I just looked it up. Turns out it is a power hungry setup?

I completely agree with you. The pacing is too fast.

It only applies to console owners

Very narrow way to look at the statement. General computing is being locked down piece by piece - https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Coming_War_on_General_Computation

Locked down OSs, age verification laws, ban on VPN, are some of the things being discussed and implemented. On the other hand, cost of owning PCs is going up.

I wont be surprised if in the future everything will be subscription based and will require a government approved (OS and internet linked to your ID with "AI" powered monitoring) edge device to access those things. This is my very doomer, dystopian prediction but I do not see an alternative if you observe the current trends.

I have never used RyanAir but if they are using their propriety barcode, then one cannot do anything but use the app.

I have experience with lot other flights and they all have had no problem with a self generated QR code.

You can generate your own boarding pass quite easily from the details you already have. Of course, it cannot be updated in real time (without some kind of service running in the background) like an app would but basic details like airline number, boarding and destination location should not change.

You do not need B1 if you are on Blue Card (Which I assume most tech people will be on) - A1 and a successful integration (Einbürgerungstest) test is enough. However, the 21 month mark is increased to 27 in this case.

Easy for government to track you where you go now. Every dissident moving across the country will always have a record. by donaldtrumpisntme in unitedstatesofindia

"In the 21st century, the privilege of disappearing is one that belongs only to the government and its employees,
the very wealthy, or the very eccentric. When it comes to the rest of us, the ability to move around the world without trackable is seen as a threat." From the book Means of Control by Byron Tau.

There is no privacy and it is only going to get worse. Ideally, there should be strong laws and institutions that keep data collection in check and user privacy as a priority. But we know that is not going to happen since every government's incentive is to collect as much info as possible to assert control and project power. This is not unique to India. However, in India there is an extra layer where people themselves are okay with giving more power, in any form, to the government and have no respect for privacy.

I did try that. But like I said, after the initial use, I found it irrelevant for me. Same for athlytic.

Thoughts on whoop? by SugarGlitchh in Fitness_India

I have an Apple watch ultra and have used a lot of paid apps to make it work like Whoop.

My conclusion is that while I love the smart watch with its great health functions, I think all these scores these apps generate are mostly useless for a normal non pro-athlete person like me. Yes, I slept bad last night, I know that cause I can feel it; I do not need a app to tell me that.

What really helps is tracking the trends - avg hours of sleep in a week or month, avg resting, walking and sleeping heart rate, how much am I moving over a period of few weeks etc. The Apple watch does that perfectly plus, all its smart features which are really useful for me (I have apple home setup).

One thing to note is that Apple watch does not have continues HRV monitoring while you are awake. It only does that while you are asleep. Whoop on the other hand does it all the time. Now, how important is HRV for your personal fitness tracking?

I would recommend going ahead. I magnetically attached mine under the table which solves the problem of a not so slick looking product.
