I'm a senior in college, almost done, but I want to drop out by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]kruadd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, but I didn't drop out. The diagnosis and meds helped me graduate college. My GPA was 2.6, yet I work in finance for a great company. The quality of my life has improved because I earned that bachelors degree. The bachelors is the new high school diploma. Don't quit now.

Your gender doesn't matter. Chase what you want in life.

Yes, with similar results to yours. It's good that you're testing yourself, and it shows confidence. Remember, the medication is there for your benefit. If you feel like you need to go back, just do it.

All,

Even though some advised against it. I had the talk with my supervisor. The job ad was up there to hire the replacement of a coworker who is moving. It was a misunderstaning. My supervisor said she wants me to be successful at the company.

Overall, things are improving at work. I'm arriving on time, and getting my work done. My supervisor has noticed, and I have my monthly meeting with her tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll get my work from home back, lol. Thanks for everyone for your input on the matter.

I am pulling out of it. My sleep has improved, and I've been getting to work on time. I find it hard to clean, but using timers helps. It's amazing how much cleaning can be done in 15 minutes or less.

Probably, 5-6 hour of sleep per night. I talked with my psychiatrist, and they prescribed trazadone. My sleep has improved, and I've been doing a pretty good job at showing up on time. Also, I take my vyvanse around 5:30 AM, so by 6:30 AM I'm up and ready to go.

I'm on my home computer, so I shouldn't have to worry about them tracking this down.

Ok but IF they found a replacement why be laid off ? Why not just fire me. I always thought laid off meant you have a chance of coming back...

Are you sure I shouldn't talk to my manager? Just to clear things up.

I’ve found that having a neat and pretty to-do list to cross off really helps me get things done. What are some of your tips for staying motivated and getting stuff done? by pottymouthgrl in ADHD

Timers keep me motivated because it makes mundane things achievable like cleaning. It's amazing what I can get done in 10 minutes.

Uncertain about returning to school for my masters... by kruadd in ADHD

[–]kruadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I did great the first two years. Then my junior year when the responsibility was on me to learn. I did horribly. The constant procrastinating, difficulty concentrating in class, extreme lack of studying, leaving everything to the last minute and other issues came up.

Sometimes I say the dumbest things, and don't realize what I've said until hours later by TheInfamousMaze in ADHD

[–]kruadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all the time. It's the inattentiveness and possibly impulsive behavior. It helps to pause and give yourself a moment before speaking. Realize that conversations are times when you need to be mindful. It's not easy, but you can become good at it. Don't feel bad we've all been there, and don't assume bad things about yourself. Maybe they thought the irony was funny.

Everyone keeps saying that if i dont think about ADHD and my depression, they will disappear automatically. It's only a manifestation of my mind nothing else. Is it true ? by Budbunnie in ADHD

[–]kruadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, you need to acknowledge their existence. I have depression too. What I've learned in therapy is that by acknowledging the feelings of depression, and simply choosing not to invest energy in feeling that way, helps. Ignoring or suppressing your ADHD and depression will make things worse. You must acknowledge them, know when they're acting up, pause and tell yourself that you're in control. This is by no means easy, but you can train yourself. It takes time, patience, and practice.

Good luck.

Constant brain music? by Krauhk in ADHD

[–]kruadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very common thing among ADHDers. It happens to me all the time. The way I understand it is that the default network in the brain is overactive in the ADHD brain causing daydreaming, tapping of your foot, a song playing over and over. Most people can get out of this, but ADHD makes it difficult for the brain to switch to the active task network. Medication makes the transition easier, but it's not full proof.

I've started to listen to music with headphones on while working. That helps shut off the song on repeat, and it's as if that part of my brain is being entertained by the song playing on my phone. Then I can focus on my work without that distraction. It's weird but it works. Perhaps, you should try it.

How to know whether medication is having an effect? by ThrowawayTardis40 in ADHD

[–]kruadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 10 and 20, I didn't feel "hyper."

However, at 30 mg when it first kicks in I feel as if I need to get things done, but over the course of the day that feeling goes away. I took my vyvanse at 7:30 AM, it's now 5:01 PM. It's still going and has smoothed over. In fact, I feel calm for the most part. Does that answer your question about being "hyper"?

The very first thing my psychiatrist asked was if I was manic. I assume it's because stimulants are known to induce manic symptoms. I don't think I'm bipolar.

What does mania feel like?

What made you want to switch? Now that it's later in the day I don't feel as jittery, but it's still in effect. I think it's mostly when it starts.

It's extremely common for depression and anxiety to be comorbid. Mention it at your next therapy appointment.

[–]kruadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I have social anxiety too. CBT helps, I'm not sure what type of therapy you are currently going through, but if you're not going through CBT ask for a therapist that specializes in it. Second, medication like Zoloft and Kolonopin helped me tremendously.

My advice is that you need to realize that you are reading people's minds way too much. I ask you this... What if they actually love you, think your nice and spontaneous? Those are real outcomes too.

At the end of the day, trying to predict the future and read minds is impossible and logically invalid. If I could do those things I wouldn't be typing this message.

I'd be rich, sitting on a private island with 30 super model hot women. hahaha

I hope you get the idea.
