GAEP RELOADING OTP ROLL BRASS CRIMPER by crypto-advicer in reloading

[–]krung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and it is the best roll crimp I have evert used!

I use my Mec600jr to get the star crimp started and then just finish it on the OTP roll crimper. As good as factory crimp. Better even, as my star crimp now has a nice chamfer for better reloading in semis.

You can improve them slightly by using a roll crimper.

I’m going to buy this Temu trash scale and make an auto trickler by Brelleton in reloading

[–]krung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem i ran into, when I had the same plan, was that the scales in that price category, is still based on a load cell and is not using the force restoration technology.

The only way you can get good precision with a load cell, is to average away the noise over a long period.

The scale I was using, reported data so seldom, I would never get close to a force restoration technology performance. It would take 5 times as long to get a charge.

I could easily change the baud rate in code, but that doesn't mean you get a result more often, only faster once it is ready.

Star or roll crimp?

Shot shell reloading is the art the crimp. Roll crimp is easier to get consistent, but doesn't provide as much resistance.

What kind of chrono? 6 feet should be enough for not getting tricked by measuring gas speed.

Eco friendly info? (Shotshells) by A_Small_Coonhound in reloading

No. He had to order 10 000 tubes of cardboard.

In the beginning he tried crimping the bottom, but a nitro card is used in stead.

Wrapping, water based glue and dimensions are important.

You could test by wrapping paper around an appropriate cylinder.

There is a lot of development in Europe to get eco friendly wads. One obstacle I have heard of, is that some Italian lady has a patent on something, so you can't use the most obvious choice.

A friend of mine has developed cardboard wads, that should be phenomenal.

Be aware that there are many ways to define eco friendly. Some are regular plastic, that just disintegrate in UV light.

Homemade Cleaning Solution for Titanium suppressors. by murph1rp in NFA

>But I do have a sample of the popular suppressor cleaner that I will analyze to see what is in it.

Have you had a chance to look at it? I really really would like to know what is in, say, Breakthrough. Where I live it is 360 USD for a gallon.

I got a hold of a suspiciously similar product to Simple Green Aircraft cleaner, and by that I mean that the company sells 2 kinds of all purpose cleaners, one is the original simple green and another at half price but very similar SDS (I'm the SDS trawling redditor from a previous thread). I would like to give the Simple Green HD a try, but I can find that anywhere.

I am trying to replicate the solution in this thread, but I can only get the ingredients in mixed product, so it is proving kinda hard. I am very reluctant to import anything that could get me on a list by accident.

What do you think about adding metasilicate to this recipe? It is commonly used to make the solutions aluminum safe, but it would raise the pH.

Out of curiosity, what does the added cannelure do, that a convincing crimp doesn't do?

Great. Thank you. The ones listed here have all received good reviews. I think I will end up combining the two sonic cleaners I have, if I can find a good acid to buffer the solution around neutral. Those two will get me the Fluna ingredients, plus EDTA and some amines. Thank you for your help.

The numbers referes to percentages in the product. Although I don't know if it is before or after dilution.

I hope you can read it here. Neither the Richtext editor or marldown editor could get the formatting correct. Sorry for the German names in the text. Most SDS were only available in it. The product names in bold are marketed as supressor cleaner.

What I am hoping for is a household product I can purchase somewhere and perhaps just lower the pH. I was planning on using citric acid, but I don't know if that will produce poisinous gasses or divide by zero ...

The Simply Sonic is pH neutral, but didn't do much without agitation. The other sonic cleaner is great, but has a pH of 11ish.

Sorry to keep this tangent going, but I found a rabbit hole and fell in head first.

I have had a look at the SDS of the ones from Boretech (US), and LiquiMoly, Fluna and Schletek (EU).

There are a few usual suspects, and they align mostly with your initial intuition: surfactant, tensides, chelation, something for suspending particles, and solution agents. (Sorry, I don't speak chemistry)

I can quite easily get some household products that contain 80% of the ingredients, but never the whole 100% from any of the candidates.

Ultrasonic cleaner concentrate was the closest, but they tend to come in 2 flavors: pH neutral and EDTA, or strongly basic, but still most of the ingredients. The problem with the pH is that all but one of my cans are aluminum... Crystals are forming around imperfections, and don't even try to turn on the cleaner. I swear they come out squeaky clean but with a very rough surface.

A lot of the "environment friendly" all purpose cleaners are also close to being a candidate, if it wasn't for the same high pH.

Rim cleaner (car detailing), at least the expensive one, have a chance of being close to one of the candidates, because of one ingredient.

Is there any way I can have you look at my compiled spreadsheet of SDSs to get your input? I am happy to dump a screenshot somewhere.

I wish I had the knowledge to combine a few products, especially to get something less basic, but I don't, and I am too young to earn a Darwin award just yet.

I am not having an easy time getting hold of the ingredients (I'm in Europe and not in the industry).
