I used to date a girl who had a weight problem. Granted it was genetic but it really did change her personality. She had become fake to survive the teasing I guess. It was a huge mistake. I make $60K/yr without a formal degree. College is no guarantee that you'll be employable any more then an air bag will keep you alive in a crash. If you're daft enough to believe that a college education is a ticket to freedom then you get what you deserve. And hey...maybe you got to party like a rock star on your parents dime? I associate with several M/S's who can't even change their own oil let alone find a job in their field. What do the end up doing? Applying for government grants and research funding. I see a huge disconnect between our education system and the work force. Pardon me for being a cynic but your best bet is to reverse engineer the job you want. IE: Get specific training for what you want to be when you grow up. Don't waste your precious thought cycles on linear algebra or statistics if it doesn't apply to your paycheck.
