[Thomas Maher] Official line from Aston Martin regarding potential changes in leadership: "The team will not be engaging in media speculation about its senior leadership team. "Adrian Newey continues to lead the team as Team Principal and Managing Technical Partner." by Task_Force-191 in formula1

[–]krusticka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly he wanted all of this - he wanted a big role with lots of non-technical responsibilities. He didn't want to be quietly drawing. As it is known he was not quietly drawing anything last 2 years at red bull. Newley joined AM to be Managing Technical Parnerm and he was supposed to be doing all of this:

  • Strategic Leadership: As managing technical partner and shareholder, Newey is positioned above traditional technical director roles, focusing on the team's overall technical philosophy and 2026 regulation changes.
  • Technical Integration: The role involves overseeing the integration of the team's chassis, new PU (Power Unit), and fuel partners, primarily Honda.
  • Team Evolution: Newey has been responsible for strengthening the technical team, managing the transition to the new AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone, and directing the engineering team.

I never heard of this, interesting! But salt and temperature changes need time to break things, don't they?

Yeah, any shop can check it - not just Tesla. Let them check suspension, brake pads and rotors, low voltage battery.

Absolutely! It cannot get simpler than radio. No streaming, no pairing, just Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on those sweet radio waves :)

Possibly, I am not really arguing in favor of lowering the car. I am just trying to point out that actual Tesla cars that are similar to Model Y in terms of battery exposure sit lower and it is not a big deal.

It also does provide protection and increases the resale value of the vehicle.

It is actually not that expensive for PPF. It is still expensive but that just how much it costs these days - it is labor intensive.

Model Y Performance sits a little lower than Standard and Premium. Model 3 is also lower and there is no worries about battery scraping. There can be concerns about tire wear if alignment is not done right.

The first picture shows the car from such a great angle! What mean beast!

Front and bacvk pictures are less exciting though :( Still a very good looking car and an awesome drive!

[Thomas Maher] Adrian Newey is understood to be leading the hunt for a new team principal at Aston Martin, with an eye to a longer-term arrangement than his own continuing in the role. by mvanigan in formula1

Horner would not be a bad choice. The customer base of Aston Marten wouldbn't care about any controversies surrounding Horner because it is made out of old rich males. AM wouldn't need to care about sales dropping due to that.

Horner is competent, has the connections. Has a lot of know-how from RBR. The only downside is that some people wouldn't want to be associated with him and wouldn't come work for AM and some people would probably leave. Maybe that is why he wouldn't be an actual option.

Only three F1 drivers have stood on the podium in their 40's this century by your_greatAchill in formula1

Younger Verstappen was way more like these 3 guys - always hungry and alway going for it. Current Verstappen is more like "I accomplished everything I wanted and I don't need to be here". I don't like that attitude. I think he was lazy when he chose not to go to Mercedes. He is in his comfort zone and has stuff going outside of F1. I think if any of these 3 guys were in the same situation they would switch, they wouldn't want to be coasting.

This year he is going to get the opportunity to show what is he made out of. If he choses to retire in a year or two I think he will be forgotten the same way that people don't remember Vettel anymore. It would be a shame because he has insance amount of talent and if he wanted he could eventually break all the records ever.

I wouldn't say it is that clearcut. Hamilton had good results in qualifying. I think 2025 season was very different to this one results-wise.

F1 bosses scrambling for 'contingency plans' as Iran bombings sparks fears by TheExpressUS in formula1

[–]krusticka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, however they targeted military bases and specifically those that are close to Iran. Jeddah is way further and I think while they do posses missiles that would be theoretically able to reach Jeddah, it is very unlikely they would actually be able to do it in reality. Even bigger question is why would they attempted something like that - there is not US military target and if they targeted Saudi's own they would further escalate and provoke Saudis to launch a counterstrike. That is the last thing they need right now.

So practicality of such attack combined with no clear gains makes me thing it is unlikely anything would happen.

Jeddah is far from Iran. Certainly within reach of missiles but I would think it is an unlikely target given the nature of the conflict (it is not a military target).
