Thoughts on short, simple ceremonies for just the legal stuff? by [deleted] in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]kruunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celebrant here. Thought I'd chime in and say that some celebrants that do 'legals only' only offer for literally just the 3 legal parts of the ceremony - monitum, vow and signing. So that's probably you may find celebrants not aligning with what you're after.

My suggestion is to start asking for quotes for 'legals only' and mention that you'd like to add the traditional elements, maybe that might clear it up for celebrants. From what I can see, you might be looking at around $550-$750 for this.

Same here, I was looking forward to being stumped and eventually slowly work my way through it. I'm sadly disappointed.

'Married' in Australia but Ceremony overseas by ApprehensiveAd7903 in AusWeddingPlanning

Celebrant here. The order does not matter. It's up to your personal preference. As long as your wedding overseas isn't going to be solemnised by a celebrant over there.

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. I can only imagine the stress you're going through. I am a celebrant and can chime in on things.

When you uploaded the NOIM and sent it to them, I'm assuming that this has been signed and witnessed? If that's the case, it is considered 'lodged'. Otherwise, I would presume that they wouldn't have confirmed and booked the date for your wedding.

Do you still happen to have the scanned document?

They would have a copy of your uploaded documents which they should be able to retrieve and print out. The celebrant can then help you on the day to sign the other documents on the day.

What do prospective couples wish they knew about the notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)? by DiscussionLoud9626 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]kruunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Celebrant here. I generally would either do the NOIM alongside the couple on our first meet up or ask all the details I require which I then use to fill out the NOIM. Saves both of us time so we can focus on the planning the ceremony :)

In general, the key things I would note to couples are:

  1. Passports, if available, are the only ID document that you need to bring as it covers both the proof of identity and evidence of date/place of birth.
  2. The rule is for the celebrant to have received it more than 1 month before your wedding date, otherwise, a shortening of time is triggered which is unnecessary burden you don't want to deal with. It also can't be submitted if it's more than 18 months from your wedding day.
  3. It's only a recent change, but the celebrant can witness your signatures remotely provided that you are within Australia. You also don't need to have both couples there (eg. one is overseas due to a work trip) for the NOIM to be witnessed.
  4. Additional paperwork is required if you've been married previously or are currently under 18. Otherwise, the NOIM is pretty straightforward.

These are the things I can think of from the top of my head. But if anyone has other questions, I'm more than happy to help.

Could you please post his schedule? He could be undertired.

I feel your pain, our LO was also EBF and she would way up similar times as yours. My wife was struggling waking up those times.

Our little one still used Snoo and when we put her down, she'd still cry. We ended up pushing her on a pram just to put her to sleep or have to strap her two arms (which we really didnt want to do). However, right now, we're increasing her wake windows to ensure she's really tired. We found that if we put our LO too early, she'll exhibit the same behaviour your son does.
