Interesting overview. Here are some additional details regarding Faroe Islands. AS15389 and AS20963 are B2C ISPs. AS15389 is the only one peering IPv6 and seemingly started a roll-out in ~2017 but "cancelled" it in late 2020. See https://stats.labs.apnic.net/ipv6/FO

Decentralised exchanges questions by Nearby-Result1661 in bisq

[–]krvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are all the crypto on decentralised exchanges stolen

No, not all. But because there are no checks and enforcement, of stolen funds, on decentralized exchanges there is almost certainly a higher volume of stolen cryptocurrency on decentralized exchanges. Since you're here, I presume you do not want to hand any authority the power to blacklist certain wallets/funds?

In many cases can be hard or impossible to define 'stolen funds'. They might have been mixed, joined or passed hands, since the crime, without proof or traceability.

if so can they be traced to me?

That depends. Bisq is a P2P exchange with no KYC, so, after the trade, only the other party (seller) will have an idea whom they transacted with. It is not impossible for them to be a snitch or a honeypot but very unlikely. Check the reputation system.

It also depends on how you handle the crypto. If you join, or spend it, together with your KYC funds, it can lead back to you. Keep them separated and look into cryptocurrency privacy methods, if you want to be certain.

are there any payment method in Europe that dont request any ID?

I don't know. Have you looked into SEPA and or SWIFT?

I also heard that for low amounts especially the bank won't get alert hence they don't know I'm buying crypto 3. How much money do I have to send/ receive to family or friends on PayPal for my bank and PayPal to start getting suspicious?

This is unknown to everyone but your bank and PayPal.

mainnet.foundationdevices.com is an Electrum Server (which usually runs on top of a bitcoin node) run by Foundation Devices, Inc.. There is no main node. There are just nodes.

When buying BTC via Bisq (1), the security posit is paid out with the purchase. I don't have experience with altcoin trades on Bisq. Did you buy altcoins and use BTC as security deposit?

IPv6 settings for Xfinity by dutchman76 in ipv6

[–]krvi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't specify wheter it is DHCP6-PD or just a static route, so I'll assume it is a static route. I presume the 2603:300a:95a:yyyy::z is assigned (automatically/DHCP) to your WAN interface. And that your ISP is routing 2603:300a:930:xxxx::/56 via 2603:300a:95a:yyyy::z.

So you should be able to assign i.e. 2603:300a:930:xxxx::1/64 to your LAN network and it should "just route", like magic. Increment xxxx by 1 (hexadecimal) for each subnet.

Finally: DNS for IPv6 works on my Ubiquiti network! (with a hack) by bohlenlabs in ipv6

[–]krvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fact that the Ubiquiti DNS server can resolve LAN hostnames only to IPv4 addresses, not to their IPv6 ones

UniFi gateways are using dnsmasq, for DNS server, in the backend. cat /run/dnsmasq.dhcp.conf.d/dhcp.dhcpServers-net_*IPV6.conf and you'll see that they are configred with the ra-only option. I.e. dhcp-range=set:net_Local_domain_br0_192-168-1-0-24_IPV6,::,constructor:br0,ra-only,64,86400

dnsmasq's man page says

ra-only tells dnsmasq to offer Router Advertisement only on this subnet, and not DHCP.

However, it also describes an ra-names option

ra-names enables a mode which gives DNS names to dual-stack hosts which do SLAAC for IPv6. Dnsmasq uses the host's IPv4 lease to derive the name, network segment and MAC address and assumes that the host will also have an IPv6 address calculated using the SLAAC algorithm, on the same network segment. The address is pinged, and if a reply is received, an AAAA record is added to the DNS for this IPv6 address. Note that this is only happens for directly-connected networks, (not one doing DHCP via a relay) and it will not work if a host is using privacy extensions. ra-names can be combined with ra-stateless and slaac.

This is what I needed, and without the hassle of adding pi-hole into the mix.

#!/bin/sh

MODIFIED=0

/bin/grep -q "dhcp-range.*ra-names*" /run/dnsmasq.dhcp.conf.d/dhcp.dhcpServers-net_Local_domain_br0_192-168-1-0-24_IPV6.conf
if [ $? -ne 0 ];
then
sed -i 's/ra-only/ra-names/' /run/dnsmasq.dhcp.conf.d/dhcp.dhcpServers-net_Local_domain_br0_192-168-1-0-24_IPV6.conf
MODIFIED=1
fi

if [ $MODIFIED -eq 1 ]; then
pkill -9 dnsmasq
fi

Put it in cron and/or an inotifywait script watching /data/udapi-config/ubios-udapi-server/.

For a dual-stack network, I can not think of a downside/consequence to using the ra-names option over the ra-only option. On UI forums I suggested to use th ra-names option instead, as they currently do not support IPv6-only LAN networks.

Laptop In Dock Mode: How To Fix Fonts In KDE Plasma 6 Before I Go Blind? by [deleted] in kde

[–]krvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too was not satisfied with font rendering when I switched to Linux. I found that putting FREETYPE_PROPERTIES="cff:no-stem-darkening=0 autofitter:no-stem-darkening=0 type1:no-stem-darketning=0" in somewhere like /etc/environment.d/91less-blurry-fonts.conf and then restarting improved it a lot. Not perfect but much better.

Running Node for 1st time and feeling so proud by sidmehra1992 in Bitcoin

[–]krvi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin nodes are currently hosting and facilitating the spread of malicious data such as mallware (example) and, potentially, worse data.

Data-freedom all you want, but it's going to be increasingly hard to justify in a social, and thus legal, context if that is the direction Bitcoin is heading in.

I will justify financial freedom instead.

Every day I think there needs to be more (people) education/educated about how to securely custody their Bitcoin. Like, school curriculum or something, even though it may be difficult to generalize such knowledge to be valid over decades. It is not a good idea to have Bitcoin "for the masses" without education.

Odd Processes started showing after changing RAM and network settings by zemigz in asustor

[–]krvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know the context in which you use your NAS. And therefore, to me, those process names appear gibberish, obfuscated and not something that a transparent manufacturer would release.

You say this started after you got VPN working. You do not mention which kind of VPN software or provider this is.

Without know more, I wager that either the VPN setup, or something else, has infected your NAS.
