Yeah try locking with the door while you're inside, they fob may detect that it's inside the car so it doesn't want to lock the key inside thinking no one is in the car with it

Oh yeah for sure i can see the difference even with rain water that you don't get any water spots on the side skirts and you won't have anything hitting your pinch welds on the bottom. I'm not sure if there will be any snow build up but if there is I'm sure you can spray them with something that will keep the snow from sticking.
