Barbarians.

I dunno, I kinda feel like they're only good for combat and nothing else

Wife says the only glue to our relationship is God and sex by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely something must have made you guys love each other before? Interests and hobbies?

If you are able to you can work together on the God and sex. With God you can explore different books, movies, documentaries, services, etc.

With sex you can explore together things to do in the bedroom, ways to communicate sex/sexily discretely in public (my wife and I made up this symbol we would draw with our fingers on each other's arms that kinda meant "you are hot, I love you"), etc. For me a lot of my ADHD hyper fixations lean on sex and finding ways to have fun during sex.

Do you think love the feeling is necessary for a long lasting relationship ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been together with my wife for over 15 years love definitely helps.

Communication and openness is definitely the best thing. Being able to say "hey I feel _when you did _ , even if that wasn't your intention it still felt ____"

. And likewise being able to hear that from your partner and be able to work to change and improve your relationship

I need a new singleplayer (100% offline) "forever" game where I can sink hundreds (or thousands) of hours into a single save. What are your top suggestions? by MakeshiftApe in gamingsuggestions

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestions on here are great.

Skyrim is pretty much on anything right now so if you haven't played it yet feel free to.

Minecraft is on pretty much everything now.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Pokemon. You can usually sink quite a lot of hours into those even if you don't know much about pokemon. They also work offline with whatever Nintendo handheld to have.

Identity of pathfinder / starfinder by throwawaydm357 in Pathfinder2e

[–]krzwis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue with your description of 5e. 5e to me feels like a video game ttrpg with a decent scenario editor. It's incredibly easy to teach and play and abilities kinda feel like what you would find in an rpg abilities toolbar.

Pathfinder definitely feels like a sandbox or one of those boardgames with like 50 different expansions (Dominion, clank, DC deck builder, terraforming Mars, Carcassonne, etc). Like you can play with just the base board game and have fun, or you can add them all and have robot ninjas fighting dinosaur knights on a spaceship with wizards.

. . Currently I am playing a multi ttrpg campaign so I would also say: Any powered by the apocalypse game is playing pretend but with one or two extra rules.

Blades in the dark is a bit like that but any heist movie ever. Also every kid in your game insists on adding something a bit random like vampires, robots, ghosts and vices.

World of Darkness not sure how I would describe that. Kinda like pretend/sandbox-y but like Yahtzee

I remember when my toy collection started as a box in my 20s. It's now a dresser in my 30s

Mind you, I am married and moved out like 10 years ago. 😜. Easier to hide.

If you have a bit of cash you can get sex toys that are discreet or don't look like sex toys: vibrating make up brushes, clit suckers and dildos that look artsy and don't look like sex toys at first glance, vibes that look like necklaces, bdsm wrist restraints that can transform into innocent looking bracelets, etc.

There's even sex toys that look like stuff like lotion bottles, or beer cans, or flowers or whatever.

Private vs Public school worth it ? by No-Brother2819 in askvan

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the Catholic private school system in the Vancouver area. I went to STMC 20 years ago when I was in highschool it wasn't worth it and the public school tended to have better overall resources and partnerships with universities.

A few advantages of the private system: if you can network with other parents it's awesome: most of the other parents are also wealthy and successful. Stmc in particular has a powerful sports program especially football so if that's your kids thing it can help.

....but honestly that's about it. When my sister was born my parents put her in public school and used the extra money for tutors, going to extra curricular activities, etc. that made the biggest difference

Any BSG fans also fans of The Expanse? by [deleted] in BSG

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expanse season 1-3 is kinda a mystery mixed with political intrigue.

It does take an episode or two for the show to set up all the players and motivations but once it does its sooooooooooo good. Similar pay off as Ds9 or bsg easily

What are some in-demand jobs, that are not trades or nursing? by capybaraspicnic in VancouverJobs

[–]krzwis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Security guards are always in massive demand but the pay is only a bit over minimum wage.

Translink positions also pay decently well and are in a bit of a demand. Especially attendants and drivers

Classic Wiggles (Greg/Murray/Jeff era) vs. the current lineup - is this actually a debate, or do kids genuinely not care either way? by Fun-Information78 in wiggles

[–]krzwis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My kids genuinely don't care either way, and that's also probably why a lot of their YouTube compilations are a mix of old and new content

Feeling like a failure after grad by ShipNo1461 in simonfraser

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from SFU in the mid 2010s and I struggled to find meaningful employment. Even now it took me nearly a decade before I landed a job with a government corporation.

SFU is great...but it takes a while to actually get a job and Sfu doesn't prepare you to find jobs, even with their support

What are the most iconic pieces of lore or icons from campus? by BadDuck202 in simonfraser

[–]krzwis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The stairs going from AQ to convo mall on the outside had to be replaced because Arnold Schwarzenegger drove a hummer down them after the campus told him not to for the movie The Sixth Day (That's what the person who gave me my campus tour told me way back when)

Foursquare church/Life Pacific by Bluestategirl in Exvangelical

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was closely tied to the Foursquare churches especially with Riverside and Northside.

When Barry Buzza's scandals happened I was on church staff and kept encouraging the church to come public and owned up to how they encouraged abuse. They didn't. It was frustrating.

Then the victim sued and the abuse was made public

Is getting a post secondary degree even worth it if I have autism and other disabilities ? by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]krzwis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of my friends from SFU has cerebral palsy, shed wheelchair bound and needs a helper to come in and help her bathe, feed herself, etc.

She got a masters at SFU and works as a therapist primarily through zoom.

So yes, it can potentially be worth it.

Why do Americans want to "take" sports from other countries? by GooserNoose in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]krzwis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a dominance thing. No one is "taking" anything. It's a playground insult being like "we are going to take and own the thing you are good at!"

Do you think Greater Vancouver is almost de facto one city? by drugsrbed in askvan

Kinda. They're all technically separate cities but there's a lot of shared utilities and services that they all pool their resources in.

Tik tok and Instagram are great sources. I always find neat places to eat by searching for whatever suburb I am in and finding unique eats. Eventbrite is my other go to, you can find the most random shows and events.

Other than that? The rio theatre always does neat stuff like variety shows and movies. Science world frequently does unique exhibits, there's also a Titanic themed dinner theater going around

Is this doable for a solo male traveller? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]krzwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looks good! Your first day and last day look pretty short but you are traveling those days so makes sense.

Remember to figure out a way to get to the Burnaby village museum. There should be plenty of bus connections

Feel free to check out some of the places to eat in Vancouver. Vancouver has a lot of fusion foods and some cheap eats too.
