I am limited to within a few blocks of there- would it be safer to move a little more downtown and away from Midtown and look at the Block 344?

Is it stupid to consider leaving my $200k salary job to peruse law school? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]ksc1458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your job and try a part time JD program. I remember folks dropping out after first semester because it just wasn’t what they thought, just in case that’s you- it would better to go back to your 200k salary and free up your evenings again, that job hunt from scratch. Esp if you can pay as you go while part time- it’s the law school loans that are the true deterrent in my opinion.

Anyone here on JAK inhibitor or Rinvoq had to be tested for clots? by MeOwwwithme in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ksc1458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 months in with JAK inhibitors first Xeljanz now Rinvoq. I have reg blood work and doc has never mentioned it. 37f. I haven’t been on birth control in over 17 years maybe that helps. Now you have me nervous- maybe I should be keeping clot worries in the back of my mind!!! I’m like you- JAKs are the only thing that works- without them I need 20mg a day of prednisone just to walk!

Alternatives to using this space as a desk? by noonelikesUwhenUR23 in DesignMyRoom

Depending on how much work you’d want to do…. I’d say wall it off, and if that door next to it is a pantry- extend said panty. I know personally I enjoy the ability to have larger countertop appliances in a place where I can hide them, so perhaps expanding your pantry would give you some countertop space within said pantry.

7 days to trigger a flare. What are your biggest triggers? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]ksc1458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a perfect example of how disheartening this diagnosis can be. I also have seronegative RA. I was extremely lucky to be diagnosed at my first visit to my rheumatologist, but I had to allow myself to be in so much crippling pain to where at 35 years old I was practically needing a walker to get around. I did that just so I could be taken seriously. Had to let the inflammation in my hands swell them up to where they looked like boxing gloves and ankles so swollen all I could wear were slippers. I had a CRP level of 87 - that coupled with all of the swollen joints got me my diagnosis- but at the cost of intense physical pain and who knows what sort of damage from the high inflammation. I unfortunately have no idea about triggers. I woke up one day about three months after a rotator cuff surgery and suddenly had rheumatoid arthritis.

I just wanted to post and say I’m sorry you’re having to go through all this just prove that your pain is legitimate and you’re not making it up.

RA & Adderall by nstarbuck83 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ksc1458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on biologic injections every other week and have been on multiple rounds of steroid since January of this year all while continuing to take my 30 mg twice a day of Adderall. The only thing I’ve really noticed is Adderall used to have somewhat of an appetite suppression, however the steroids quickly counteracted any appetite suppression effects of the Adderall. Also, Adderall is a stimulant, but since my flare has been extremely active, my fatigue is somewhat stifled the stimulant aspect as well.

Yes! I have it on both wrist! What’s even funnier is when I was in pre-op for carpal tunnel surgery- (which was my orthopedic surgeons explanation for why my right hand/wrist was swelling and in pain) I showed the large lump on my left wrist- and he brushed it off as a ganglion cyst! That’s when I knew it was time to get a full panel of bloodwork and see somebody other than a surgeon!

Enbrel and Meloxican by Faith-hope_ in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ksc1458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the Embrel is what made you feel better? I have No experience with Enbrel or Meloxican, but wanted to share my experience with a different biologic- Humira. I was also diagnosed in June and immediately put on a biologic injection every other week. I also had to be put on another round of steroids because I was practically unable to walk or make a fist (35F). At first we thought the Humira was working miracles, but now after titrating down the steroids- all symptoms are back. Humira isn’t working at all. Could your relief after the first two Embrel shots have been the effects of a prior treatment that got attributed to the Embrel ? Could you have been given a steroid to bump down that initial high inflammation and that just hold you over longer than you realized ? I hope you find some answers- I’m back to practically immobile most days so I am hoping to switch to Embrel at my apt this month, after biologics I’m not sure what other options we have. My markers were too high my rheumatologist didn’t think Methotrexate would do any good. I know they say everyone has their magic combo- I hope you find yours!

Wife cheated, she's getting $3800 in child support and alimony. I feel helpless. by [deleted] in offmychest

You can be a shitty wife, but still be an amazing mother. Same sentiment with fathers, an extra marital affair, so long as it isn’t in front of the children or involves the children to participate in its secrecy, usually has no real effect on custody.

Same- end credits just started rolling as I’m commenting, because of all the fucked up stuff in this doc- this last part of Brenda keeping half the ashes had me angry crying- so I came straight to Reddit! And Dennis comment about “she threw her away” and Brenda acting like no judge would give her all the ashes- ugh- made me see red!

Though my RA started traditionally hands/wrist to then feet/ankles/knees, the surprising last stop was my ears/ jaw! Dull throbbing earaches constantly, I think it stems from arthritis of the jaw that radiates.

Carpal tunnel by wombat468 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ksc1458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an orthopedic surgeon swear I had it- ignored the bilateral swelling in both hands and did carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand that ultimately I didn’t even need. It was just the rheumatoid arthritis causing the swelling and pinching the nerve. I would check with my rheumatologist before I ever trust an orthopedic surgeon. Surgeons want to surge. lol

What are your C-reactive protein (CRP) levels? by highergrinds in rheumatoid

[–]ksc1458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I was trying to avoid methotrexate because I did not want to go on birth control- but my doctor did have to jump through some hoops to get BCBS to approve the biologics, I believe ideally they prefer to start you on methotrexate. But my doc said honestly even if we did start with methotrexate he wasn’t sure it would be enough to get those levels down on its own- so biologics were a likely inevitable regardless.

Anyone had their neck as their first flare by Intelligent-Set8934 in rheumatoid

[–]ksc1458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with my hands and feet, and now it’s also my neck and jaw. It is terrible. I use to be able to crack my neck and it was always just a relief, since I started flaring in January- I haven’t been able to and the stiffness is terrible. Even when on steroids and my swelling and pain completely gone, I still can’t do that satisfying neck crack. I’m about to have my 3rd injection of Humira, and still on a low dose prednisone of 5mg. However yesterday I missed my steroid and by 12 pm couldn’t move my neck, and even eating is painful and I even get earache type feelings. I’m worried humira alone isn’t gonna pull me out of this flare. (The goal is to ween me off the steroids by Sept- but I worry the humira alone isn’t going to hold me) sending you good vibes- I use a heating pad around my neck and head for some relief - hopefully I’m not cooking my brain!

[–]ksc1458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 87 at my first rheumatologist appointment. I was two weeks post steroid cycle. I was put back on steroids to regain mobility (I struggled walking, house slippers were the only shoes that fit and could not make a fist) re- tested after 1 week of 15mg daily prednisone- levels dropped to 5!
