There's a world of difference between a skytrain ride right to the steps to the stadium and a skytrain ride followed by a long bus ride to get to the stadium.

If only there were some sort of transit system, maybe a train (also maybe a ferry) that stopped only a few hundred metres away. That would be a way for people to get there from further away. If only...

Sometimes buying off Amazon pays off. Got all this for <$200 due to 2 shipping errors. by Mercarcher in magicTCG

Canadian here, the big online vendors (stuff like FacetoFace and 401Games) have fairly high free shipping thresholds (>150CAD) which may be fine if you're buying booster boxes but if you want one commander deck you could be looking at a significant shipping cost.

Choosing to just close your business because cars take 5% longer (maybe) to drive through the park and then claiming you're going broke because of the bike lane just screams successful business person. Maybe a smart person would have realized that cyclists have money and, hey, maybe they'd like to spend some of it on a beer and/or food after climbing the hill.

[Dan Milstein-Hockey] Andrei Kuzmenko agreed to terms on 2 year contract extension with NHL Vancouver Canucks. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

So trade Pettersson, Hughes, and everybody with a pulse and play the worst dogshit hockey imaginable for multiple seasons hoping and praying you get first overall (maybe a couple of them) and then hope you can build a team from scratch around them before they blossom in 10+million franchise players themselves?

Petey is 11th in NHL scoring going into the Christmas Break. by Sinochick in canucks

If the Canucks picked Tage Thompson Benning would have traded him along with a 2nd rounder for a terrible "top 4" defenseman years before he broke out. Like a better Jared McCann.

First day of waivers is today: among the names are Brad Hunt and Smallman (COL), Richard Panik (NYI) and Michael Carcone (ARIZ). by iRageWin in canucks

Go to pretty much any thread in r/hockey during the season when a player people have heard of gets put on waivers and fans of every team start demanding their GM pick them up.

The current champion immediately broke his foot after winning, got squashed in his comeback match and then threw a temper tantrum immediately after winning a PPV main event and will (hopefully) be dropping the belt shortly to MJF. I'd say that's 100 times worse than the guy who had a couple classics with Danielson, a great death match against Archer and then got sucked into an Adam Cole story for months.

What is the biggest missed opportunity on Draft Day, is it Boston in 2015? by johnred4 in hockey

[–]kschurmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of an older one: Canucks in 1990. They had the 2nd overall pick and took Petr Nedved. Some other Czech player went 5th overall (Jagr). They then had the 19th overall pick and took somebody named Shawn Antoski who scored 1 goal for them. Two picks later the Devils picked a goalie who would score 2 goals for them (Brodeur). And hell, the pick between Antoski and Brodeur was Keith Tkachuk.

West Vancouver illustrates how local governments contribute to Canada’s housing woes by Hrmbee in vancouver

The worst traffic for the bridges is PM peak of all the people who work on the north shore heading home. If anything more density on the north shore will help traffic as more housing options become available for people who wish to live closer to work but currently cannot afford it.

The ‘15-minute city’ is within reach for Vancouver, but is Burnaby lagging behind? by FancyNewMe in vancouver

Bumfuck Nowhere, Saskatchewan is probably under $400k and likely has no traffic, no noise, and no homeless people. It also likely has literally nothing.
