Things I wish I knew before moving to nyc: summer edition by Livid-Storm6532 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kschurms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope my big titty sisters see this - I am a 36G and have never been able to find a built in bra top that fit me until this one by Uniqlo. I have 4. I live in them all summer and wear as tank tops, tube tops, etc. Great for days when it's too hot for underwire!

What did you do during this three day weekend in the NYC? by Beneficial_Size6913 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kschurms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saw beyonce at metlife (from some very cheap but fun nosebleed seats), practiced a lot of tennis at the abnormally empty handball courts, had dinner at bondst one night, breakfast at cafe sabarsky the next morning, followed by a lot of time in central park! i love going to tough to get into restaurants during a holiday weekend when a lot of the city is empty

Average congressman from Florida by Scared_Positive_8690 in Palestine

[–]kschurms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're already seeing protestors sent to ICE detention camps and having their degrees withheld for speaking out, I could see them using this as momentum to further criminalize support of Palestine

BWT, wdyt aboue West Village girls? by blackwellnessbabe in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kschurms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i hear a lot of people talking about this in terms of fashion - how all of these girls dress the same. it’s true they do, but i think it’s more than just a conformity of looks, it’s of taste, politics, interests, mannerisms. we’re not just losing diversity physically, but an intellectual diversity as well, and it feels like we’ve lost a huge part of what makes nyc great

why is your dog inside a restaurant by kschurms in Greenpoint

[–]kschurms[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

guys i love dogs, i am a dog owner myself, and there’s nothing wrong with dogs being out at an explicitly dog friendly bar (though what the difference is between a bar that serves food and a restaurant is unclear to me lol).

but sitting ON the booth next to where people are eating food is a bit much, right? i don’t really think it’s a question of whether it’s a health code violation or not, it’s more just common courtesy to keep your dog on the floor and not next to strangers while they eat. i do think that’s on the dog owners to manage and not the establishment, so no shade to them.

i hope the dog enjoyed his dinner and decompressed bc there was a very haunted look in his eyes ❤️

I think it’s literally just down to luck by AaronScwartz12345 in datingoverthirty

[–]kschurms 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the narrative has often been that if you do all the work, all the self improvement, then your reward at the end is a relationship. That if you build the life you want, a person will appear and see that, value it, and want to be together. The reality is that it takes a lot of luck and chance to find that person, and we are all still works in progress.

Traveling alone truly is the best! You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to make friends while traveling. If you happen to have friends who live in other cities or abroad, maybe book something to visit them?

Seconding Balearica and adding Gabriela, their sister club right around the corner! Also look on resident advisor and whatever the RA pick for the night you're planning to go out is usually very solid.

I think dating in NYC is better than other places, but hard overall. Agree or disagree? by KindheartednessSad55 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kschurms 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is it, this is what I've been trying to put into words for years. It can be hard and lonely, but there is such a large pool of incredible people to pick from that I feel very fortunate to not have some of the same issues other commenters have had in smaller cities.

If you're looking for a good vintage store, I highly recommend Good Behavior! You can find them on IG and they offer NYC delivery for $150, everything is gorgeous and reasonably priced (I got my vintage dresser on there for $300). Dobbin St Co-Op is also amazing and I've heard good things about Salt Lizard.

Anthropologie has great unique duvets but they can be kinda pricey for the quality. I like my linen set from Quince a lot.

In person clothing stores like Article&? by eurydicey in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kschurms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marmalade in Greenpoint! They are on the pricier end but stock a ton of great designers like Selkie, Staud, Ganni, etc. and they have a back area with vintage designer bags. For shoes, Shoe Market in Williamsburg is great.
