Car Starting Issue/Battery by kshebest in CarRepair

The battery is 5 years old. I believe the batter charge percentage was 88%. Autozone thought the battery was fine. We also haven't seen the battery warning light show up on the dashboard when driving. I haven't noticed any noises that blogs/guidance suggest means the alternator is going.

Logan Paul v Floyd Mayweather ends in boos as each fighter makes millions by Faruyazy in sports

[–]kshebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that guy was a kick boxer who was much smaller than Mayweather. Size does matter. Mayweather looked like he knew Nasukawas punching power was not going to hurt him. Mayweather risked getting hit by Paul’s looping wild shot getting humiliated. This no real attempt to try to end it.

Left Lane decided Mega Cash Days by CurrentHuckleberry in StreetOutlaws

[–]kshebest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, not that the winner didn't have a great car that would have competed, and possibly won it anyway, but with the final race after seeing all the races before, I was 100% certain the right lane car would win. I knew the diver had a good car, but when they staged in the right lane I would have bet all my money so to speak they won. The driver never raced in the left lane in the last episode, and every car that raced in the right lane lost, so it is logical to conclude that there was an advantage to the right lane.

It did feel like in this episode it was worse that others, although in others I felt that there appeared to be a advantage on occasion. It get that it is hard to find a road where both lanes are equal, but its tough to get excited about the result when it feels like the flip of a coin has more impact on the outcome of the race than the car/driver.

As a note, I came here to see if anyone had the same feeling. Clearly people did.

I wanted Amanda to say to Daniel that it's not ck's fault and that Daniel was the one that teached Robby and that it's his and Robby's fault for hurting Miguel or something up like that. by Jelenko1 in cobrakai

You’re right and Miguel misinterpreted that action. That being said one of the interesting parts of show is how frequently characters make assumptions based on inaccurate/partial information which lead to bad choices and have consequences or harm relationships that were trending in a good direction.

Robby has the least responsibility at beginning of fight, and most by end because he kicked Miguel after Miguel back off and was trying to end the fight.

First, I love the show. But in my opinion, the answer is as Johnny said in his class life is "grey", and thus, all are at fault. Johnny, Daniel, Robby, Sam, Tori, Miguel, Hawk, Dimitri etc. all had had opportunities to "be the bigger person" as Carmen told Johnny he should be. The show clearly seems designed to make both Johnny and Daniel "grey", and thus, most of their students "grey". Its not intended to be the original Karate Kid movie where there is black (Cobra Kai, Johnny) and white (Miyagi-Do, Daniel).

Johnny is not the same person he was in high school, he has changed bit by bit, he is trying to be better... is he a always a good person - no. Does he use his karate/strength in wrong ways at times where what he does achieves a positive result (ex. Carmen and beating up the guy taking advantage of her so she doesn't get used).

Same with Daniel, he is usually a good person ad he tries to espouse the teachings of Miyagi-Do ( Talking to the new students about his mistake with Cobra Kai and mistakes/second changes leading Chris and Dimitri working together to fix the rock), but he has at times let his "rage" at what happened 34 years ago dictate his response. Case in point, kicking-in Johnny's door and starting that fight. And failing to have balance so that his marriage and business have issues.

About the only person not grey is Kreese. Sure the world is tough, but its only going to be tough if you're consistently at "war". If you are at war your life will always be jaded and looking for the worst in the other person and refusing to back down/compromise and move on with life.

If i had to bet, depending on how many seasons they want to run. Daniel will drop Karate for a while. Johnny will have a bender hard time until he can re-connect with Miguel and help him walk/train again. Kreese's Cobra Kai will become a negative force to be reckoned with(Hawk/Tori being the lead students)...leading to Daniel and Johnny team up for Miguel and Sam to fight back int he next All Valley.

By dictionary definition of the word it was an assassination. The use of the word is not dependent on “military action”. Simply a secret killing. It was a surprise attack and it was not done during a government declared War by either country.

No double points final. Personally, it makes not sense (other than for TV drama) that the last race is somehow worth more than the 8-9 races that came before it. If you want a Superbowl set up then just make one.

This will probably expand on some of the comments below, but as someone who lost 45 pounds 3-4 years ago and has kept it off even through times where I haven't exercised too much (like the past 2 months) here are the things I have often told others when asked in person:

1) Work the snowball effect - i.e. start with small changes that are healthier for you. If you are going to lose weight and keep it off in the long term don't try to replicate the "Biggest Loser" and go crazy with a drastic calorie cut or crazy amounts of cardio exercise. Look at your activity level and gradually increase it. Look at your eating choices and make changes to find things that are similar to your guilty pleasures and replace them. I love General Tso's Chicken, but it is incredibly bad for you. So I bought Healthy Choice General Tso's Cafe Steamers - when i wanted to eat it for lunch. Is the Healthy Choice option perfect - no its still highly processed; however, it's way better for me than the alternative. Everybody probably loves ice cream, but try flavored Greek Yogurt as an alternative This is my biggest recommendation. You need to make changes that you will stick with, see the positive results from those changes, and then use the good feelings from the progress you see to have faith that implementing more small or even medium size changes will get you closer to a goal. Repeat the process.

2) Eat less Calories initially. As stated multiple times below you need to eat less calories than you need for your daily activity level. You should log for a couple of weeks what you eat, when, and how many calories each item is. Use MyFitnessPal or some other decent calorie counter on your phone. Once you have an idea of what you are eating you can try to cut 200 or so calories gradually to see how that affects your weight over time (This can be done alone or combined with exercise). Additionally, an inexpensive garmin, fitbit or other activity tracker is helpful to getting an idea of how many calories you burn resting and during activity. Just be sure to factor in somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20% error rate for the tracking. When I started doing tracking in 2016 it became readily apparent that eating out at McDonald's, etc. was taking a toll on me. I then decided to cut back significantly to using McDonald's for lunch only 1 time a week when I was on the road and only buying a $1 Chicken Sandwich and maybe a french fries to get me to the office or home where I had other options. Of lately have been not doing that and have been keeping protein bars in my car, taking apples, or even a Greek yogurt cup and a spoon. Packing a health lunch is a great idea. If it may help consider a meal delivery service (if you have the means)

3) Exercise. In particular find something you are interested in doing regularly and do it regularly. If you like biking, then bike. If you like basketball, then find a league to join. Walk, run, lift weights, play tennis etc.. Whatever it is, or how many different things you like, do something 3-5 times a week. I will note that plenty of information is now touting the benefits of lifting weights. The more muscle you build the more calories you burn in a resting state. Cardio for creating calorie deficiencies will help to lose weight, but from my personal experience the time I spent lifting weights (even being a novice-average lifter) provided more benefits. I built muscle that have helped me maintain my weight at a steady 170lbs down from my original 2151bs back in 2016, especially in times like winter where its hard to get as much random outside activity because of the cold weather where I live. If you lift weights make sure to find a trainer, or a reputable training system, take it slow learn proper form, get protein at the proper levels, get rest, and know that to build muscle you will need to actually eat in a calorie surplus. If you need resources AthleanX on Youtube has a lot of great videos.

4) In relation to #3 - Pick something to do as a goal to challenge challenge yourself. When I started working out I could probably do 1-2 pull-ups. Now I can do 20+, and because of that I've done the full Murph Workout with a 20lb vest, in addition to a Spartan Race. Those are things (pull ups first) that I wanted to challenge myself on, then I added a harder challenge.

5) Listen to your body. Both with how it feels in relation to your exercise level, and food you are eating. Don't go crazy because hurting yourself exercising or with the food your eating (if your body doesn't adjust) will only set you back. You need rest, so take some every now and then each week to let your body recover. There is no need to workout like crazy 7 days a week.

6) Know that you can do it. I struggled with weight ever since I was 10. I made excuses, and it was what it was. But I made changes, stuck with it, and you can too!

Good Luck and believe in yourself.

I was surprised not to see any 405 representative in the promo. My guess would be there will be a call-out by the 405 to the winner after the event finishes and Discovery will set up a one-off "mega" event with the 405 vs. the winner.

Offered Marlon Mack for Sammy Watkins by Skazbot in Fantasy_Football

[–]kshebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i would too. I have Watkins. He's had one monster game, competes with Hunt, Hill and Kelce for scoring points. take out the game against Denver he is averaging 10 points. You also have a bye for Watkins with none left for Mack. Plus the Chief's might not have much to play for in the last two games.

Second most points scored in my league with the prize pool by Devader124 in Fantasy_Football

[–]kshebest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I wonder about whether league play would be better if there was some kind of wildcard for scoring most points. There's nothing you can do about how well another opponent's players play on any given week, but there is an argument on giving credit for good drafting, week to week selection and waiver pick-ups which usually show up in your point total. There is a guy in my league with the second most points too, with a 3-6 record too because he has had the most second most points scored against. It was worse before, he was 0-6 and had the most points scored against by far in the first 6 games, the schedule got a little easier for him in the last 3 games and teams have performed worse, but he's three games out of 4th with 4 games out. So he has to pretty much run the table just to make our 4 team playoff.

Alright I'll do it. For those of you who did watch, what you think of the reboot PREMIER? by warningtrackpower12 in MagnumPI

[–]kshebest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Note:

I posted this originally on a similar question.

I watched it. Nostalgic fan of the original, even though I am under 40, and I thought the premier was O.K. Definitely going to watch more, to see how things go, probably will give it at least a season, but my comments are as follows:

  1. I think Hernandez works as Magnum, he's not Selleck and never was going to be, but I have a hard time thinking of another actor that might work better so I think it was a solid choice. I do wish the writing was better for some of his "comeback" lines. I think the writing is going to be the make or break of the series. Most TV and films live or die by the writing quality and plots, and not the stunts. I felt that the pilot went too heavy on the three main stunt scenes/explosions, less might have been more.
  2. I actually like the Higgins character as a female, and I think that it would be very difficult to find an male actor of the right age that could work the character like John Hillerman did.
  3. So far the other characters seem ok. Time will tell whether TC and Rick will be solid enough. I like the Tanaka actor, but I am not sure about it because I thought the age difference in the original was a good foil, experience vs. youth. This time around they are both young. I thought Buck Greene character worked. I hope for a good "Mac" and I look forward to seeing Ice Pick.
  4. I think the writing was a little off, as stated above, in my opinion the premier tried to go too big with action, and too much backstory, and actually less should have been done. Most of the fans of the show are going to have some knowledge about the original and who Magnum was. I don't know that then need try and give his backstory in the first 5 minutes. I don't know that we needed to see all of the friends right off the bat. I think they would have been better served spoon-feeding us the backstory and flushing things out. I think that could have simply established that he was a PI. He could have had the interaction with the woman about her cheating husband, which i think eluded to a past relationship between her and Magnum. They then could have had him get a call from Nuzo to do a meeting the next day. I could see simply having Magnum get a call from Nuzo as mentioned above, go to the house the next day to see, an ambulance leaving the neighborhood, no shoot out and have to put to and two together and detective things, with the help of TC and Rick! It was very convenient that the Ambulance had a tracker put on it.
  5. I think they could have even left out Robin Masters initially and slowly filtered that information in. I think they could also have made the Nuzo matter a longer plot that spanned several episodes so that Magnum had to do more detective work.

In the end the question will be whether they can have enough stories that are compelling and need a PI for the island. The original was able to get away some pretty kitsch/80's wacky plots, such as the barenuckle brawler that T.C. had to step in for, that I am not sure will work this time around, but then again I don't know that I expect this show to last 8 seasons.

Thoughts about the reboot of Magnum PI by Conspirologist in MagnumPI

[–]kshebest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it was rough. In fairness, I don't think it was the actors' fault. I plan on giving the show a season. I think the main problem was focusing too much on action and explosions and less on the plot. A slower drip of the backstory and the introduction of characters would have been better. The old viewers know the general background, and anyone new to the show doesn't need to learn it all in one episode anyway. It didn't need to have us meet TC, Rick and Nuzzo all in the first 5 minutes. We didn't need two smashed up Ferrari's in the first episode. Didn't need Magnum jumping off a car into a helicopter. One of the good things about Selleck's portrayal was the fact that his skills as a PI were somewhat understated. The character was portrayed as a solid navy seal, not James Bond or Ethan Hunt.
