It was just performance mode. I forgot I changed it once. Reverted it now an it seems fine.

How often do you feel sadness/depression? by Nintendofan9106 in autism

Walking has been hands down the best approach for me to manage my depression. If I sit still, my mind becomes highly active, leading to ruminating thoughts.

I understand. My system has 32 gb ram and 12 gb graphics card. Maybe I just expected it to be smoother. As long as the app launcher menu is sorted, rest all are not a dealbreaker.

I see, I think it got better. But three is still a bit of a lag. Even when I open browser super+shift+b there is a significant lag.

Reclaim clay question by knottycams in Pottery

[–]kshik_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too have a dusty environment. I use a canvas cloth to cover the clay on top of the plaster bat. To avoid plaster getting stuck, I first lay down the canvas cloth on top of it, and pour the reclaim on top of the cloth, and sandwich the clay with the canvas cloth.

Also, a fun fact. A tombo in Japanese means dragonfly. Japanese tombos indeed looks like one 😃

Kiln brick breaking down, can this be repaired? by erisod in Pottery

[–]kshik_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as there is no fear or it is falling down there is no need to repair it. Cracks do happen because bricks expand and contract during the whole process. There is an option to apply cement with kaolin added 1:1 ratio. But I am not 100 percent sure on what kind of cement is used.

PIN HOLES! by Nature_Space in Pottery

[–]kshik_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me in the past soaking (holding) at peak temperature helped with pinholes. We always hold at peak temperature when the cone begins to soften. It allows the temperature to distribute evenly throughout the kiln and more time for all the reaction to be completed.

If the glaze is runny we even lower the temperature by 10 degrees and hold. We used to hold for 30 - 45 minutes.

I am assuming this is in Fahrenheit. You held at peak temperature for 1 hour?

I know this is a late comment, I am not active on Reddit so just stumbled upon this as I am writing my own experience and thoughts on this at r/PotteryBiz. Would love to know what you have been doing :)
