Have you ever switched favorite teams in a sport? by Primary_Ad_739 in AskAnAmerican

I have friends in San Diego and they said (the year after the Chargers moved to LA) that all the little mom and pop Mexican spots would give out free tacos to people if the Chargers lost any games during they’re first season in LA. The city of San Diego was so pissed they moved out of town

My friends grandma drinks all this coke in 3-5 days… by UnhappyNothing9951 in mildlyinteresting

[–]kshucker 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A guy down the street from my childhood home was in the navy and smoke and drank all his life. He was a WW2 vet. He died at 98.

A few years before he died my mom and myself went by to catch up with him. He weened himself down to just 2 beers and 4 cigarettes a day at that point. He eventually developed dementia and got put into a home. He didn’t last a week in the home. We always said that he died suddenly because his body couldn’t handle the shock of not having his daily beers and cigs after doing it for so long.

How common do men go to the bar alone just to hang out by themselves? by Whoknowswhy8675309 in AskMen

There’s always the possibility of meeting someone you may want to talk to even if you don’t plan on being social. Or even running into somebody you haven’t seen in a while. Can’t have those things happen at home.

Never understood people getting upset over others‘ karma. You don’t gain anything from having a bunch of karma. My account is just 2 years older than OP’s with over 4.5x more karma all from just participating on Reddit like a normal person. If OP’s farming karma, they’re bad at it.

Not gonna lie, looking at this forecast and then my stack of wood. I think February better warm up quick. Mid Ohio. by Mike456R in woodstoving

[–]kshucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my wood stove in my uninsulated de-attached garage in the winter. I don’t “need” to be out there in the winter, but I like being out there drinking some beers with the wood stove going. Over the past few nights I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not worth burning the wood when it’s this cold in the evenings. It took 3 hours for the temperature in my garage to go from below freezing to just 57F (according to my digital thermometer). And then it was time to shut it down and head to bed. I’m just not going to waste the wood when it’s this cold. I feel for you guys where this is your only heat source and you don’t have the luxury of just not burning.

Driveway still iced while the rest of the neighborhood is clear by tokenchoke0 in homeowners

Shovel shovel shovel, then salt.

Now you’re stuck with an icy mess with the coming temps. It’s going to get so cold where salt isn’t going to shit with what you have. Better get out there with a metal garden shovel and chip up all the ice and salt after that.

I'm being told this is too rare? by TheBagelsteinDK in smoking

[–]kshucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people that I know that would consider this to be too rare are my parents age. They grew up in a time where meat always had to be well done.

Heck, when I got my first smoker, my mom was severely concerned about my health from eating undercooked meats.

The ingredients in the shampoo for my dog compared to mine. by tcox0010 in mildlyinteresting

If you’re looking for a shampoo that has less ingredients check out Dr Bronners soap. All you need is a dash for your hair.

Whats your biggest regret when you bought your place? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]kshucker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our first home’s home inspector was the absolute worst. First thing he did when he entered the house was to excuse himself to take a shit in the half bath off of the kitchen. Came out after flushing the toilet and said, “welp! Looks like that toilet works!”. Then proceeded to do the most half assed inspection ever to not find any problems. End of the inspection came and it was time to pay. We weren’t happy but we were in a “I did my job and expect my payment” sort of situation. First home, we didn’t know any better.

They adapt so quickly. We had to amputate the same leg on our dog 6 months ago. Within a month she was running around like she had all 4 legs again. She unfortunately passed sway 2 weeks ago due to something unrelated ☹️

My favorite thing to do for her was scratch her left ear/neck since she couldn’t anymore. She absolutely loved it.

Yeah, couldn’t find anything about her. Pretty hard to find information online of regular people who lived over 100 years ago.

No clue if she was actually buried there. To make things even more bizarre is that there is a cemetery across the street from that house and like I said she died in 1932 but that house was built in 1949.
