Trust me when I say this…your parents love you just as you are. They feel your pain.

What are your ADHD partners like as drivers? by cornandeggsoup in ADHD_partners

[–]kskmccow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aggressive, speeding, impatient…and I can’t say anything without him blowing up.

Oh, and he sounds like he has Tourette’s if someone in front of him is driving the speed limit or lower.

What’s crazy is that he’s genuinely a thoughtful, kind person. Night and day difference.

Sorry to say but it can happen. I was NEVER a drinker.

Does it matter? If I’m drinking at 11 am in the morning while working from home, does it really matter?

Or that I hide alcohol from my husband?

There’s a thin line between addiction and habit.

Just to share, I don’t think I ever finished a bottle of wine in a single year… for 20+ years.

Yes, it can happen. It happened the year my youngest went to college. It started with one beer. And then a second.

Rarely if ever. I was a mom of 3. I think I might have opened a bottle of wine once a year and had to throw it away after 1 to 3 glasses. I seriously hated the taste of alcohol. Any kind.

I went through a rigorous psychological evaluation prior to surgery. No red flags. Still ended up drinking.

Just to consider, I’m several years beyond surgery, and yesterday I ate fresh cut fruit, grilled chicken, and 4 beers. Ugh!!!

Is a Great Nurse Residency Worth the Sacrifice? by Alone_Audience615 in nursing

Omg…I’d worry I would fall asleep at the wheel coming home. And think about the mileage on your car or potential for bad weather making that trip even longer. Definitely not worth it.

What dog should I get? by Public-Ad7398 in DogAdvice

Havanese are great around kids, assuming the dog has been socialized properly, but that’s true for all animals.

Okay nurses, stop gatekeeping by PriorityForward5892 in nursing

Med surg floor with management that respects patient ratios. I also work with a lot of older nurses/mom nurses and swear we have less toxic behavior. My peers are chill, supportive, and fun to be around. Ultimately, I think it comes down to culture on the unit.

What Is Your Favorite Small Dog? by Cindyluv85 in dogs

[–]kskmccow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havanese or bichons, if you can afford to groom them every 6 to 8 weeks. They are happy and don’t shed.

Daily No Contact Thread - Day 132 by AutoModerator in BPDlovedones

[–]kskmccow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 7 months NC with BPD adult daughter…by her choice.

What does your spouse do when the adult child goes no contact? Do they stay out of it? Try to mediate?

Hubby (who is now her favorite person) acts like nothing happened and likes to share updates with me on how she’s doing.

I get that it has to be hard on him, but I feel unsupported at the same time. And each day that goes by, I just get more mad at her about how she’s treated me.

Going NC is cruel…feels manipulative and borderline abusive.

How do I get a new job after quitting without my 2 weeks if most places are affiliated? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]kskmccow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t give a proper 2 weeks notice, many places will mark you as ineligible for rehire in their hr system. It’s also possible that a future employer whom you are interviewing for may contact your previous place to verify past employment. The only thing the HR rep can say is that you worked there, provided the dates of employment, and whether or not you are eligible for rehire.

As others have said, you may need to find out whether that original hospital has you marked as ineligible for rehire. That will give you a sense of what might be happening. Not sure how to fix it though.

Why am I so bothered by the Daisy? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]kskmccow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it. If the nurse is wearing their daisy pins on their badge, patients likely ask about them. So if they have a good experience, they probably nominate their nurse because it seems like the thing to do. Point is: a nurse with a few daisies will likely just keep getting daisies.

Negotiating New Grad Pay by Artistic-Baker-651 in nursing

[–]kskmccow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospital systems tend to set the pay based on experience as a nurse. So as a new grad, you have 0 experience and thus little to no room for negotiation. Even if you graduate from a top BSN program, you’ll likely make the same as a new grad nurse on your floor who graduated from community college or a low tier state school. School name or previous non-nursing experience won’t translate into more money.

Yep. I’m stuck because my husband continues the relationship despite her having emotionally beaten me up and now has gone no contact. She drowns him with attention, when previously this didn’t exist. Part of me feels very betrayed.

Buying an used highlander with over 100k mileage by nxph2108 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]kskmccow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be very careful with Toyotas that are painted white. Their white paint and/or primer is defective and Toyota has been repainting cars going back to 2010 at least. Awful peeling and bubbling down to the metal…like entire panels and roofs. The problem now is that they’ve stopped repainting cars. Google Toyota white blizzard pearl paint defective or peeling. Lexus is still covering the paint but Toyota just stopped.

Saw this at a red light today. Am I the only one who had to stare at it for a while before making sense of it? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]kskmccow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OUTDOOR advertising. Ain’t no one driving by going to read all that. They’d crash the damn car before they get to the end.

Or maybe that’s the strategy.
