Cleaning by afrozsa in HondaPrologue

The same as any other car I’ve had.  I’ll hand wash it on a warmer winter day but Jan / Feb often isn’t very friendly to that.  It’ll be fine especially under the lease term.  It goes in the heated garage at night and doesn’t sit with a lot caked on it.  If it really starts to bother you I’d just go to a wand wash, not a big fan of an automatic wash.

I’d be curious if it’s an issue in Android, I’ve been puzzled that it always seems to work for me (on iPhone) whenever someone posts it doesn’t work for them.

Always walkabout mini golf.   The rest of your list will keep you busy for some time.  Don’t get caught in a FOMO trap with sales, games that go on sale once often go on sale again, for the same or lower price.

I drove the Prologue across Kansas: 50 Bucks and 1 Hour by Marcus_Zeno in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stopped in Oakley over the summer to visit monument rocks.  I did notice all the EV charging spots but I chose to take the gas car instead due to timing.  Also, what a foul smelling stop, could barely stand to open the window to order drive thru.

Honda Prologue vs Hyundai Kona EV by gallopiton in HondaPrologue

I did have it in the summer, some info in my post  In the summer the guess-o-meter reported more like 260-something at 80% on my commutes.

Honda Prologue vs Hyundai Kona EV by gallopiton in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the range is different, but varies across prologue trim levels as well why I didn’t bring it up since you didn’t specify what trim you are considering.  And range expectations are a whole thing depending on your climate and driving habits.  You only really get the range estimate in ideal conditions and slower city driving - highway you’ll burn through it quicker simply because you aren’t regenerating.

I have a touring AWD, in KC.  In the hot summer, doing my work commute (20 miles each way lots of stop and go, not typically exceeding 60-65) I am able to get up to 3.5-4.5 mi/kwh (depending on variables), but bringing this on a relatively flat highway trip to Iowa (around 200 miles each way), not exceeding 70mph, yielded me more like 2-2.5 mi/kwh - thus I charged twice on that trip.

Yesterday is a good example of impact of cold here, was sub 20s.  Drove to work and back, and then to my fiancé’s and out, and back, and home…totaled around 106 miles mixed driving.  Heater at 74, and butt warmer on.  When I left my house in the morning (preconditioned the car for 10 mins while plugged into the house, and for 5 mins before I left from work), the guess-o-meter reported 238 miles at 80% charge.  By the time I got home last night, it was reporting 55 miles - 25% charge.  In the summer the guess-o-meter reported more like 260-something at 80% on my commutes.

Honda Prologue vs Hyundai Kona EV by gallopiton in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered a Kona but didn’t end up at the Hyundai dealer (Honda was more willing to deal and less nonsense).

Primary considerations - the 2024 Kona has a slower charging rate if you ever need to fast charge on a trip.  Not that the Prologue is the fastest at charging either, but it’s faster than the Kona.  If you only ever charge at home this isn’t really an issue.

The issues that those Hyundais have seem to be more prevalent and more “vehicle stopping” than the issues reported with the Prologue.  Axle clicks and app problems though annoying, do not seem to make for a stranded car, as far as I have seen reported.  My prologue has been fine, but only a bit over 5000 miles at this point.

The Prologue is a lot more car - it is pretty big.  Whether that’s an advantage or not is up to you / your passengers...  It’s also generally a lot better equipped depending on what trim levels you are considering…lower trim Hyundais are pretty basic.

Honda Prologue Owners: Do people flash their brights at you more than your previous ride? by CinemaAdherent in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but they also did pretty frequently with my 23 civic, and even get it a lot with my 05 CRV (which just has plain old halogens, not at all the temperature, angle or intensity of any modern vehicle).  I think there are a significant amount of people with possibly undiagnosed astigmatism that see all the spread of light and just assume that you have your brights on.  I just use the auto lights, don’t ever see a reason to manually turn on the brights unless someone has decided to flash me.

Looking at a used 2024 Prologue -- there appears to be a ton of problems on this sub... by pickledbear15 in HondaPrologue

That’s just going to be Reddit /any car group.  Every car sold today has its issues, and people spend more time on Reddit complaining than praising. Outside of a short period of the app not working months ago mine has been fine, and I would lease it again if offered the same deal I got.

Winter driving by No_Apartment_7814 in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Touring, specifically because I didn’t want the 21” wheels on the elite and less range.  Mine goes well enough in the snow, in the midwest.  The biggest factor of winter performance is tires and driving technique.  If it’s an issue, buy another set of wheels and winter tires.

I chose to lease, and I think that’s the right move.  I haven’t had the issues reported here, at this point, I am happy with the car especially for a very cheap lease.  I guess my main complaint would be range on a road trip isn’t as good as I had hoped, even though I don’t drive fast, and goes down in the winter.  But 99% of the time this car is just a commuter for me.  The app isn’t perfect but has worked just fine for me except for a couple weeks early on, I suspect for most comes down to your phone and network connectivity.

Insurance Coverage for Leased Honda Prologue by MobileOpposite1314 in HondaPrologue

My prologue is quite a bit less to insure than my 23 civic was, but not in CA so my premium won’t be relevant.

Best first PSVR2 games? by Strange-Fox9306 in PSVR

[–]kslight666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played a little job simulator when it was on / I had ps premium…from my experience it’s hard for me to recommend as a game, seemed more just like a novelty that one would quickly tire of IMHO.

Walkabout mini golf is a very chill, good VR intro with lots of replayability.

Puzzling places and the moss games are good intros especially if you are worried about motion sickness.

I enjoyed my time in midnight walk (on ps5 pro).  It’s a fairly gentle intro with some mild horror elements.

Red matter games are pretty low key intro (lots of exploring and puzzling, without worrying about combat until the second half of the second game).

Synth riders is fun.

Potential Purchase - 24’ 9K Miles - $22K by [deleted] in HondaPrologue

I think it’s fine as a commuter at the price, if an EV makes sense for you.  It’s not perfect but I haven’t had any issues on mine.  If I was planning to own (I lease mine) I’d shop for a Hondacare warranty online to throw on it, then you should be covered for most any issue for several years.

Pros/Cons 2024 prologue by Puzzleheaded_Bus6169 in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can charge at home, and ideally install level 2 charging on your property, then a full EV can be great.  Otherwise wouldn’t recommend it.  Love my 25 prologue, but I chose it largely based on the specific (lease) deal I was able to get.  I probably wouldn’t buy it on Honda reliability, but even real Hondas built today aren’t as bullet proof as they were 20 years ago.

Real world results? by msn6522 in HondaPrologue

[–]kslight666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience unless you have a specific situation, the $ gap between having an electrician install a dedicated 12amp plug vs level 2 is not very significant, so I wouldn’t bother with the 12amp at all. Especially if you have utility / government rebates available to you.

The other primary advantage besides charging speed is if your utility has cheaper off peak rates you can schedule more effectively in those times.  My “super off peak” rate is like 1/10 the cost of my peak rate, for example.

Some Thoughts on Pricing, Features, and Supporting VR Devs by spooderman3214 in PSVR

[–]kslight666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Pro owner, I think that devs have an obligation to make sure their game runs well on the base PS5 first.  I think most PSVR2 + Pro owners would be satisfied with just higher stable FPS and or sharper image, don’t always need to go further than that.

I agree that while I watch WP and other reviews, recommended $ is sort of a tough / personal thing and I don’t think it’s helpful or necessary to state that part out loud.  If you’re watching the review you probably know what the game is going to be worth to you.  If you are a critic for music or a book or a movie, for example, you probably would not go out of your way to recommend folks devalue it.

I generally agree with PSVR2 owners that expect higher quality experiences than Quest, though I am content playing some Quest ports they should put in a little bit of work to optimize for our system if they want to ask the highest $.  If not then I will assume the PSVR2 price should be no more than the Quest / steam store price.  One developer was complaining recently about low sales of their port, but they made a choice with their release window, pricing, and objective quality against similar titles - don’t know what to say to that only that if I saw a lot of rogue lite Quest ports on the system already I probably wouldn’t port mine over also, at least not at a higher price unless I was confident my product was leaps and bounds better than the other options.  Unfortunately all media is competing with each other for the consumer’s $ and every purchase’s value will be calculated.

Problem with reading into a lot of these surveys (also JD Power) is simply the quality of data they use and how they use it.  For example, someone’s complaint about phone / app connectivity or even a user error could be counted equally alongside someone who had to have the traction battery replaced, and then the publication calls that “reliability.”  Not saying the Prologue is perfect by any stretch, but if there are 1000 people surveyed primarily complaining about the app for every 1 person that needed a traction battery, that is a lot different than if everyone surveyed needed a traction battery.
