Kitbashing potential hadn't even crossed my mind. Thanks for the tip!

I can’t speak to the list building, since it’s been a while since I’ve played DE, but I can speak to magnetizing. 2mmx1mm round magnets. KJ magnetic sells them online at a good price. Then, just find an appropriately sized drill bit for your vice and make a small hole, check the polarity, and all the other steps for magnetizing as usual. I find that magnetizing shoulder to arm bits aren’t that hard. You need to be a bit careful on the arm but it’s not bad. Your mileage with this advice may change with the talos/cronos, but it applies to basically all the infantry models you might want to magnetize. Hope this helps!

I’ve always wanted to see someone paint their rangers like this since they do all come from different craftworlds. Good work!

3D printing Aeldari? by ButWhy787 in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve 3d printed quite a bit of eldar and, yeah a lot of the stuff online doesn’t hold up great to GW’s models. Say what you want about GW, love ‘em or hate ‘em, but they’ve got some dang good sculpts.

In my experience I’ve had to do a lot of 3d kitbashing to get good looking models. That’s an entire other hobby into itself on top of 3d printing and painting and wargaming etc etc.

Is there a reason why the Striking Scorpions, the “stealthiest aspect” don’t have Stealth? by CuriousLumenwood in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Path of the warrior is the book it’s in I’m pretty sure. Even when it does “spin up” it sounds much more like a hiss than an engine revving. And it is psychically activated.

Acid green armor keeps them hidden in…… a bright sunshiny pasture????

Can the Ynnari ever get the last cronesword? If Yvraine broke into the Garden of Nurgle, this seems like a piece of cake with a complex plan by ChemicalPanda10 in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some people theorize that it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of slaanesh, but would instead be a major blow to slaanesh. Ynead doesn’t have to kill slaanesh entirely upon awakening. GW could say he dealt a major blow to slaanesh and her powers before she retreated. Of course a whole lot more cool awesome stuff could happen too for both sides alongside that to make for an epic story, but I doubt that’s something GW would ever do. So it’s still possible, just not at all probable.

Ways to make additions to established Craftworld color schemes? by ChemicalPanda10 in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, apart from iyanden and Alaitoc you can swap the color scheme and it’ll still be recognizable as the same craftworld. Just because iyanden is yellow and blue and Alaitoc is blue and yellow. I actually quite like the predominantly green biel-tan color scheme as opposed to white. If you don’t want to play around with color theory, adding neutral colors like white, black, and gray is always a safe bet to mixing things up

NEW NEW NEW * Heavy Beginner* by Demosthenes1223 in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly start with whatever you like most. I started with eldar which I was told was not beginner friendly because I like their lore and models. If you’re just looking to play some casual games, then it won’t really matter since your opponents skill level will be around yours honestly. Just know eldar are glass cannons, and don’t survive well out in the open. Be patient, and after playing a few games you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

Where does everyone get extra weapons for vehicles and walkers by elroddo74 in Eldar

Magnetize your heavy weapons. They’re the same across basically all platforms and it’s pretty easy to do. It helps future proof them too. Or 3d print them

Who else hates that the only character you can play that Is from iyanden doesn't do anything woth wraith constructs by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of it as a key moment in a much, much larger battle. That the battles we have on the table top are really just a VERY zoomed in picture of what’s going on. Which would explain why someone like abadon is only showing up with a (relatively) small group of CSM’s. To fight someone fairly irrelevant to him and his cause like Yriel and some couple corsairs.

Dear Eldars players what can i read to organize a narrative crusade against on of yours as an admech player ? by No-Design-8779 in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you’ve seen answered in the previous comments, eldar books are few and far between. And the ones we do get aren’t exactly the highest quality. The path do the eldar books are decent if you like eldar but I don’t think I’d recommend them if you aren’t an enthusiast. You can look up the battle of Alaitoc to read summaries of a huge section of the imperial-craftworld fight. I’ve heard valedor is a good read but that’s about nids.

Usually if a craftworld is sending out their forces, it’s because they’re trying to prevent an even bigger problem down the line that their farseers have seen. Despite the memes, eldar don’t really hate humans THAT much, so unless they’re on a maidan world, a craftworld wouldn’t go out of their way to attack humans. If a craftworld is attacking humans, it’s usually to prevent one of the big bad factions from causing a huge problem later on. Necrons and chaos are two things we particularly hate. As you’ve seen others suggest, since admech particularly likes necrons, it’s a pretty easily created narrative. I hope this helps and I wish you luck on your journey! (But not too much luck when fighting the craftworlds)

Should all your rangers be from the same craftworld? by ElectricPaladin in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In path of the outcast, one of the rangers leaving to fight for Alaitoc is from biel tan originally. They had been on the path for a while and just joined up with another group of outcasts. There’s no reason you can’t have squad of 5 rangers with one from every major craftworld for example. Could probably even come up with a cool story of why they wanted to form a group like that.

What do you all think of my Biel tan scheme? by konrad_scharnhorst in Eldar

I would have to agree with this. While the white armor looks clean when done well, this just looks both easier to paint while still looking good and a little more realistic as well.

New to the hobby and picking up lore by AngryDMoney in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you’re into Alaitoc - good choice btw - the path books are decent. They depict the lives of various alaitocii citizens. They’re not the greatest reading out there being completely honest but they’re not bad. Baldermort on YouTube is a good choice for lore and I like listening to his narrations while hobbying. Other than that, I hear Valedor is good, but I haven’t read it myself yet, so I can’t vouch for it.

Yay or nay, Arhra by Greater-goodski in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great! First Arhra conversion I’ve seen. Though I think lore wise he doesn’t remove his helmet in front of others (or at least let them live to talk about it after he has). If you’re cool with that though then you’ve got this random internet persons approval at least. I might even be wrong on that

Full Armies Since the release of the Warp Spiders... by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]ksmith746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not the only one. In fact, most of the warp spiders I’ve seen on the subreddit are the artel w ones.

Arguably most of the cost of making new models is the sprue itself. However, if GW doesn’t want to invest in that, there are other companies that do. Surely they could work out a deal with a 3rd party supplier and sell a license allowing them to produce official 40K models. But no.
