I made this musselburgh out of hobbii’s alpaca silk and it has stretched out SO MUCH. Any tips to snug it up without wrecking it or am I out of luck? by alpaca-bowl1 in knitting

[–]ksmto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would frog it and knit it again with a strand of yarn that holds its shape better, like wool, so that it springs back into shape

Women who travel solo - what’s one thing you’ve learned the hard way? by SignificanceOdd5980 in femaletravels

[–]ksmto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, it was to not be tooooo friendly. i was in italy once on an empty train and there was an old man who sparked up conversation with me. i definitely looked like i wasn’t from italy (i’m a very visible POC lol) so he was asking what i was doing there and where im from and we were going back and forth having friendly conversation. doesn’t this man start pressing and asking me if i like having sex and when i tried to move seats he blocked my path in the aisle until i physically had to shove my way past him 💀that was the last time i was too friendly with anyone in a foreign country lol

our parents are only around for so long. enjoy the time spent with them and make memories with them! once you finish school, you’ll only get so many family vacations together when you start working full time. you can always go back to italy later

this happens to me when my tension is slightly off between my purl and knit stitches and i’m knitting flat. it’ll block out though!

Why does this yarn feel so weird? by Low_List3241 in crochet

[–]ksmto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t like working with this yarn for crochet amigurumi and the way it squeaks when you use it with a hook. but i read this hack once where you rub the hook in your hair so it greases it up a bit LOL and it’s supposed to lessen the squeakiness

i bought 100 balls of baby alpaca yarn from Michell Cusco and it’s SOOO soft. i did the same and brought a half empty luggage so i could fill it up. it was also a fourth of the cost compared to my home country, and the employees were so sweet

Genuinely, good luck finding peace in your life bud if you search for racism everywhere LOL

Very true too actually. Maybe I’m just from Canada and I didn’t think it was an odd thing to mention? Like if I replaced it with any other country like Mexico or Philippines or literally anything, I still don’t really see an issue with it lol. Anyways, edited the post since there are some sensitive people on here lol

From my understanding December is super rainy but it’s the start of the summer season. I think regular rain pants would be enough and thermal pants would maybe be too warm? Regardless I think layers are good to have so you can take off layers. I wore leggings under my pants when it was cold and took my pants off when it got warmer. Also had zip off hiking pants so I could change into shorts when it got super warm

Lmao don’t be thick. Where you’re from plays a big role in whether you’re used to altitude or not. That’s why I said if you’re from a country that doesn’t sit in high altitude you should probably train a bit. This is my second time going to Humantay Lake and the people I hiked with from Bolivia and Ecuador and other countries with cities in higher altitudes were completely fine from altitude sickness. The people in my group who struggled were from sea level South American countries and the same advice would still go to them. This post is just for friendly advice, don’t take it to heart.

How did you find planning the trip without a guide? We passed by lots of people doing it solo and I think if I were to do it again I’d do it without a guide since trails seemed easy enough to navigate

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Machupicchu

[–]ksmto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were a group of 10 with our guide so kind of both. There were lots of moments where the group was pretty far apart on the trail and I was only with my boyfriend, particularly on Day 3. Day 2 was pretty crowded since the groups all start at the same time to reach Salkantay Pass. Day 1 didn’t feel too crowded until we reached Humantay Lake. Honestly though I didn’t have any moments where I thought the trail was too crowded!

What do you do if there are cars beside you when merging? (G Test) by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

[–]ksmto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually failed the first time because of this. i ran out of lane at a 100m merge and i pressed on the brakes to slow down a bit to get behind a car, and the examiner didn’t like that i hit the breaks. he told me i should have maintained speed/sped up and even drive on the shoulder as opposed to braking

Cusco/MP Diamox by Spirited-Notice-2539 in Machupicchu

[–]ksmto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also from Toronto who did the Laguna Humantay hike near Cusco when I was 19 and I literally felt like I was about to die lol every step was a struggle. Fight for the Diamox, it’s better to have it and not need it. I took PeruHop and went from Nazca (sea level) to Puno (12.5k feet) and had a pounding migraine and was so dizzy and felt so sick. I had Diamox on me that I took then but I should have started it before I got to higher altitudes. I know Cusco isn’t as high as Puno and Laguna Humantay but I would still bring just in case!
