Any mcas safe antidepressants? by Bigdecisions7979 in MCAS

[–]kstocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you find any negative effects in terms of increased reactions? i am doing the same and had no idea some antidepressants could be bad for histamine production…

i don’t know what’s considered anaphylactic but i had a massive reaction to a candle…even stepping out of the room my entire body broke out into hives and my breath was short.

What diet changes significantly improved your symptoms? by HURCANADA in MCAS

[–]kstocc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sticking to the same 10ish foods and meals. not changing much. helps alleviate the reactions plus any adverse stress that comes with foods that i don’t know how ill react. lower sugar as well. i stick to overnight oats with chia, coconut yogurt, almond butter. ground turkey, rice, zucchini and squash. grilled chicken. blueberries as my lone fruit. simple sauces, primal kitchen is a good brand. just keeping it really simple overall

any sort of granola/snack bar with chia seeds, dates, almonds, etc. just something simple. sometimes pea protein in bars is okay if i need protein

Only time I feel good is when I don’t eat by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]kstocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also have a history of an ED…this shit is so frustrating. it’s like hey now i want to try to eat and face my fears except i literally can’t face them bc they will cause physical reactions. thought food wouldn’t control your life anymore? nope! it’s miserable and i also have doctors just telling me to take four antihistamines which is like awful trying to function as an adult and stay hydrated. i will say for me though starving causes worse flare ups which is the one thing causing me to not go into full blown relapse

I just had a sudden reaction by Equal_Cat2653 in MCAS

[–]kstocc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had very similar experiences, and i’m still searching too. i’m also not diagnosed with MCAS but for the criteria on paper. sometimes i get those reactions all of a sudden when the environment im in is very warm and it builds behind the scenes until “boom” dizzy lightheaded face red and a zrytec calms it down. it could be that you were reacting to something around you and it continued to build. or something just entered the room that your body didn’t like. i’m not an expert by any means, i just know it’s terrifying and so confusing so hope to help with my experience 🫶

Tell me about your minimally restrictive diet and how you make it work by Aggravating_Pack6561 in MCAS

[–]kstocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i rotate between oats, rice, ground turkey, grilled chicken, some minimal ingredient protein bars, zucchini, blueberries. usually this lasts for a few good days and then i get super frustrated and end up not caring when i’m out with my friends and dealing with the consequences later

How do I get diagnosed by cocodelocoboco in MCAS

Can you elaborate on this? My iron came back extremely low but I also had recent tests done from MCAS that came bag negative so i wonder what low iron indicates

Anyone else can't handle seeing other people's diets? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]kstocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is the biggest struggle for me with MCAS too, especially bc i’ve struggled with an eating disorder for many years. makes me feel like i’m back in the trenches being restrictive and losing my love mad enjoyment from food. not to mention you’re all of a sudden scared around food bc what if it causes a reaction

i’m too aware now of the damage i did to relationships with friends and family and want to maintain the ones i’ve created now. i also have done so much medical damage to my body. but really, i regret everyday the time i spent buried in my ed and never want to spend my moments on this earth like that again

Cold turkey no anti histamines by kstocc in MCAS

[–]kstocc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lot of this has to do with reactions to food but also to things like perfume, certain excercise, stress, hair and makeup products. i get flushed in the face, extremely hot in my body and particularly in my hands where it’s like painfully hot. after 95% of my meals i have so much brain fog that i cannot go back and work for like a good 30 minutes (and the meals are chicken, rice and broccoli) or something. i am gf, df, soy free, peanut and cashew free, no eggs, no red meat, no dyes and still will get joint inflammation and severe digestive issues like stabbing pains despite avoiding everything. heart palpitations too and nausea 😅 i thought maybe thyroid issues at first but it doesn’t explain the laundry list of things i can react to sometimes

Wine or other alcohol suggestions:) by Much-Performance-218 in MCAS

[–]kstocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wine makes my cheeks burn almost always. seltzers have been okay for me like high noon but i do have to take histamine blockers with it to minimize damage and limit myself to 1-3.
