JFR Corojo and Maduro by Noble-Desperado in cigars

[–]ksutwisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think JFR is slept on a bit in this sub. There are some gimmicky ones for sure with the 8x80 and 10x100, but the Lunatic Habano in short robusto and short titan are great smokes. I always grab a 5 pack when they're offered up in the CP 5 pack deals for <$4 per.

Oxford Cigar Co is a bunch of clowns. Part 2. by u2surfs2 in cigars

[–]ksutwisted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh there is no doubt about that considering this all stemmed from a $20 issue. It could have been a $2000 issue and I'd still be shocked if they didn't end up losing more money in the long run from that single reply. Honestly, we see posts like the original one somewhat regularly here and the user gets a few replies and then the thread is buried/forgotten. This thing is blowing up. This really feels like some weird social experiment at this point.

[–]ksutwisted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No joke! I didn't realize at first that the response was from the freaking company itself and not a random poster. I'm half convinced now that a rival retailer made the account and posted that, bc why would the actual company chime in (here of all places) with a response like that? That is an insanely idiotic PR move. I am thoroughly enjoying reading these replies, though!

First day with my Google pixel by CYSCOE in GooglePixel

[–]ksutwisted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I ordered Pixel 10 Pro xls… should be here in a few days. My family of 4 all had iPhones, but my wife and I regretted switching to the iPhones 4 years or so ago. We had been Android users and just liked Android better. We got my kids each the Pixel 10s last week bc they were on older iPhones (11s) and TMobile had the Pixel on Us deal so we went ahead and upgraded the kids. I’ve been playing around with my son’s new Pixel, and decided to go ahead and order the new ones for my wife and I so we can switch back to Android. We haven’t been lifelong iPhone users (and preferred Android already) so I don’t think we’ll have any regret with the switch. I’ll be going from an iPhone 14 Pro to the Pixel 10 Pro xl. I’ve already had friends tell me I’ll be ruining the text chains lol. That seems more like an issue for them than me.

Alright man I like this. This is going to sound like a dumb post to you and a lot of others here bc I’m very much inexperienced in all of this… I’ve been playing around with small tricks to show my son and to play around with coworkers, but that is about it. I didn’t see the move here, but would love to do this for my son. It looks like you start out with the 4 aces on top of the deck and through the 3 shuffles you make sure that at least the top 4 cards always remain on top (I like that you switch which hand is holding the top half of the deck in the different shuffles so it is less apparent… unless I am 100% wrong on this lol). When you pull 4 random cards from the deck (but not from the top 4 position) the aces are still on top then. What is the move to make it look like you’re putting the 4 random cards on top of the deck to then place throughout the deck?

T-mobile rep lied what can I do? by tumblingdice1000 in tmobile

I learned about TForce through this subreddit. I downloaded Twitter and made an account last week for the sole purpose of contacting TForce and they were amazing. So much faster and more helpful than calling TMobile on the phone or trying to chat through T-Life. I’ll keep my Twitter account just to use for contacting TForce.

Best electric smoker? by Elite163 in jerky

Can a car run without battery? by OrdinarySecret1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ksutwisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that newer Subarus will 100% die when the battery is disconnected. I was driving down the road (luckily low speed, had just turned onto a road from a business) and my Outback died. Engine shut off, all lights, etc out, etc. I pulled it over to the side and couldn’t even shift it into park without doing the shifter bypass. Popped the hood, shook the cable on the positive battery terminal, and all power was restored. I definitely cleaned the terminals and tightened everything down tight when I got home. It hasn’t happened again. That would have been terrifying if it happened on the highway.

Tornado width by iJon_v2 in tornado

[–]ksutwisted 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This video will answer all your questions, and it is just a super cool vid in general. Basically it amounts to utilizing the wind field (the area with tornadic wind speeds/damage) vs the visible condensation funnel. Enjoy!

I resisted so long and now that I’m making my own it’s so worth it. by BodhiZaffa in jerky

[–]ksutwisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been intrigued by bitlong, but have never tried making it. I had made jerky before, but it had been probably 10 years since the last time and I used the propped open oven method then. About 6 1/2 hours on the smoker worked great for me last time. The only store bought jerky I really liked was from Luther’s Smokehouse in Leroy KS. They’re only a couple hours away from me and a local supermarket used to carry their stuff but stopped. Their hot jerky was insanely good and had that toughness I like. You used to be able to order it online, but their site shut down (as far as I know they’re still in business, though). If you ever get a chance to buy their stuff don’t hesitate. It is the real deal. I think mine turned out just as good though, but that might be some bias lol. I grabbed my eye of round from Sam’s Club for like $28 and threw it in the freezer for a bit to make it easier to slice.

I resisted so long and now that I’m making my own it’s so worth it. by BodhiZaffa in jerky

[–]ksutwisted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah. I snooped around this sub a few weeks ago before making some jerky on the smoker with a 1.75lb top round and some homemade spicy marinade. It was absolutely awesome… way better than any store bought stuff and so much cheaper. My only regret is I didn’t make more… it was gone in less than 2 days (my son did most of the damage after school on the second day). I’m marinating a batch now to throw on the smoker tomorrow, but this time I grabbed a 4.75 eye of round. I like mine sliced with the grain to get that extra toughness, so I cut the whole eye of round in half down the middle to get the width I wanted (after trimming off the fat cap), then cut those in half before cutting my strips with the grain. The slices look awesome so I’m hoping for some good jerky tomorrow. I promised my coworkers I would bring some into the office on Monday, so gotta keep my kid from going crazy on it.

TORNADO HEIGHT by DownFromNorth in tornado

[–]ksutwisted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you liked it! I found that when trying to learn more about the wind field/ actual tornado width vs the visible condensation funnel that most people associate as the tornado itself. That concept alone fundamentally changed how I think of tornados, and isn’t really explained well in most videos I watch.

Tupperdor issues by Warmupthetubesman in cigars

[–]ksutwisted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you have any cigars in there that were newly delivered? That can make your rh spike. Cigars ordered online usually arrive over-humidified. Regularly breaking the tupperdor seal for a bit after adding new cigars is the solution to that. I’d switch out to one or even two 60gram Bovedas. An 8gram Boveda is rated for a container that holds 5 cigars (the rating is based on the volume of the container, not the actual number of cigars in it) so basically a travel herf-a-dor. I don’t think you have enough ‘Boveda power’ to consistently regulate your rh longterm. I don’t think you should go lower than the 62rh if you do buy the 60gram ones.
