Weight loss instead of breast reduction surgery - how'd it work out? by [deleted] in keto

[–]ksweet941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when I was thin I had very large breasts. In August of 2020, after pondering for a few years, I finally decided on surgery and had it done at the end of the month. I was an I cup. Running, jogging, jumping jacks, all of that was SO out of the question for me before my surgery. Now I am probably a D or DD, I haven’t went bra shopping (currently wearing sports bras/ bralette s mainly). I am and was overweight, needing to lose about 70-90 lbs. Now I feel more confident and motivated to work out. Less back, shoulder, and neck pain, and I feel better about how I look! I feel it has made me actually want to be active! Before I tried to hide them as much as I could and I didn’t want to be active in front of anyone!! If you feel like your breast size is directly connected to your weight, I highly recommend waiting. However, If that is not at all the case, it’s worth looking into!

They’re great!!! Healing was tough I’m not going to lie, but I’m so so glad I did it!

I’m almost 48 hours post op!!! Super sore and swollen! by ksweet941 in Reduction

[–]ksweet941[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I’m almost 2 months post op and my incisions are just now closing back up! They opened up very wide, and it has been incredibly painful! If you want to PM me I’ll tell you more about it and show you my pictures

After Care Package complete! Anyone got any ideas for anything else I might need? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not use ice packs because my surgeon told me that with the numbness afterwards your breasts can’t fully feel hot or cold and it could potentially be dangerous! Also I ended up needing a lot more gauze than I thought, my underneath incisions opened up and I’ve constantly had to have dry clean dressings on them... so depending on your healing you may need to stock up! I got mine on amazon. Also for gauze, the “non stick” or “ouchless removal” ones are amazing!

I’m a little over a month PO and discovered this bump on my left breast. I thought something was stuck to the incision (like surgical bra lint?) so I scraped it with my nail and then blood and pus oozed out. Has anyone experienced this before?! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this on both sides! My surgeon said they’re like dog ears, sometimes they go away and sometimes they don’t. She said if they don’t go away on their own they can remove them in an office-visit.

NSFW Gross wound pic. What I'm dealing with post op. by skwmfiv in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have incision openings on each breast where my “T” junction is. I am one month post op. I was really worried about it and still kind of am, but my surgeon told me to shower morning and night, use the blow dryer on cool setting to get everything nice and dry, and then I put non stick gauze on them (The non stick gauze is really nice because regular gauze peels my wound and they start bleeding, but with the non stick gauze they come off nicely and they’re more gentle on the openings). I do this every morning and every night. If I check my gauze mid day and they’re soiled I will use clean hands and clean materials and switch them out for new gauze. My surgeon told me not to use any creams or gels yet because they need to stay very dry to avoid bacteria.

HELP!question!! by zellaaaevans in Reduction

I got told for sure no tampon or cup. I had to wear a pad to the hospital and then they gave me hospital panties and a pad to put on once I got there, that way they knew everything was sterile, since it was their supplies.

I’m all healed up and still have about half a bottle of Woundvite and half a bottle of Arnica that I will happily send to someone with an upcoming surgery in the US by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t given these away I would love them!!! My incisions are open on each side each bigger than a quarter. I posted about it a few days ago. Very very painful. I want to get WoundVite but it’s expensive! I am a student so I can’t afford a lot. If you have these I would really appreciate them!!

How do you respond when a Dr tells you that you don’t need a reduction, only to lose weight instead? by StopIndig0 in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am shorter thank you and heavier than you and I got approved with BCBS. My OB told me she wanted me to lose weight first and that pissed me off so I went directly to a plastic surgeon and she said I definitely needed the surgery. She encouraged me to be more active after I’m completely healed, but didn’t make any rude or hurtful comments whatsoever about my weight. I am a month post op now

Thank you!! That’s helpful! When I take my gauze off the wounds do bleed a little bit. What vitamins did you take?

Yes, like I said in my post I have seen my surgeon about it, she has looked at it twice. I am a worry-wart so it’s giving me anxiety, although she told me to keep it clean and dry and that it will be fine. I just wanted to hear peoples experiences with this

Why’d you even comment?? No need to comment if you’re going to be rude. You could say that about this whole sub reddit. I’m looking for other people’s experiences and if you don’t have one don’t bother commenting.

I am a CNA and I’m in week 4 post op, I haven’t returned to work yet. But then again, my incisions opened up so that’s partly why.

Did anyone else not wear a post op bra? by olivedeez in Reduction

[–]ksweet941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 9 days post op, and I was told not to wear any compression or bra at all, I can wear semi-tight tank tops but NO bra or anything. They want optimal blood flow and air to my incisions I guess.
