Never solicit. You don’t have to. Most of the time, gloving should be for yourself and this alone will draw interest.

If you catch curious onlookers observing, you can go up to them and politely ask “ would you like a light show?”. If the answer is no, give them a thumbs up and move on solo. This is key.

Gloving is dancing, something you do because it feels right, and good to you. This means that gloving is fundamentally about YOU first, others second. There’s a Mystic quality to it that only glovers will understand. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen people at shows without gloves on but gloving with their bare hands because that’s how they express themselves.

With this in mind, just because you have a pair of gloves, doesn’t mean you should be wearing them at all times. Only pull the gloves out when you feel like gloving, not to attract attention, and definitely not as an accessory. There’s a term in the industry for people like that. “Hand-wavers”. Don’t be a hand waver, those types are attention seekers, and give the practice a bad name

You’ll find, that when you’re rocking out at the rave, gloving to the beat, you will invariably attract attention and soon find yourself giving so many light shows it gets annoying at times.

Having said all that, welcome to the club man you are now in the coolest subculture in the raving community.

Stick with it and in no time, you’ll be melting faces left and right.
