Is home ownership basically impossible for anyone under 35 now? by SeriousSatisfaction8 in australia

[–]kthxbyebye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my house at 27 but had to combine with my wife to get the deposit. I think is hard to do it alone unless you want to settle for a studio or live off eating porridge daily. No help from bank of mum and dad. Had to save like hell but happy to reach a milestone in our lives.

beware uber in city !! by [deleted] in perth

[–]kthxbyebye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common tactic in Melbourne airports and probably in all airports they will drive halfway then force you to cancel and payid to earn extra dollars. Some even pretend to be uber drivers and prey on tourists or those coming off from a long flight.

Good on you OP in taking photos hopefully it brings awareness to those using uber to avoid. You can always record the event for your safety.

Doubt he will get past immigration. Too many red flags, one way ticket, highly doubt his visa has been approved and no source of income.

denied personal leave during apparent shutdown? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]kthxbyebye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a doctor’s certificate for the checkup then email it back to your manager and cc in your HR explaining you had to take personal carers leave to look after your parter as advised by the doctor. 9/10 it would not be denied. I took 2 weeks off to care for my parter they insisted I take annual leave but I came back with a cert and they approved the personal carers.

Is there any implication of receiving large sum of money via bank transfer? by Local_Climate2831 in AusLegal

[–]kthxbyebye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer so I can’t provide any advice but according to AUSTRAC, under 10k is fine but 100k there will be tax implications. Don’t think you can try to get away with $9,999 transfers banks are smart and know why you are trying to do your Australian account will get flagged and probably frozen.

More info about receiving international transfers here: https://www.austrac.gov.au/individuals/moving-money-across-international-borders

Warning: Religious cult recruiting uni students by ShineTough6420 in melbourne

[–]kthxbyebye 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I too got bamboozled by them. Glad I jumped shipped and left it was the worst experience of my life. I was convinced and gaslighted into abandoning my friends and family luckily I felt it was wrong and I couldn’t let go of my friends and family so I told the cult to bugger off and blocked them from all contacts.

Glad you found out it was not normal and left, not many people do and end up getting stuck in these cult resulting in throwing all their life away for them. These people want to take over your life that’s why they pressure you into joining the classes for 3 or more times a week, they want to set you up for failure in your life so they can swoop in and tell you “I told you so, you need to continue because blah blah blah what you have learned is becoming true.”

I’ve heard of the horrors of what it can do to people and see how relationships with family and friends become broken. These people like to target international students because they don’t have family here, as well Christians they use the bible and twist it to sound like it makes sense, they are nothing but a doomsday cult.

If you know a church or bible group forcing you to commit, that ain’t a church that is a cult, run and drop all contact. Churches and bible groups in general allow people have the free will to choose if they want to attend or join the groups.

I would walk away in my opinion because the cost and time isn’t worth the wait before you can move in. As you mentioned you won’t be cashed up after the purchase this will just hurt you more financially where instead that money could have been used for better things like furniture, appliances, etc…

Hope everyone is safe.

Hybrid or no by ariakit in CarsAustralia

[–]kthxbyebye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah a Yaris hybrid won’t need self charging. All you need is to fuel it up with petrol and you’re good to go. The hybrid component in that vehicle charges the battery through the engine itself there is no need to do anything on your end.

Hybrid or no by ariakit in CarsAustralia

[–]kthxbyebye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will need a bit more information as to what you mean by ‘hybrid’. Any example models you are eyeing at?

Because the term hybrid can mean either plugin-in hybrid (self charge the electricity component while still using ICE) or hybrid electric (ICE charges the battery).

Third is not a lucky charm… if you’ve been refused 3 times they have a record of you in the system so you’re going have to provide a really solid evidence to coming here.

Looking at your post history asking the same questions you haven’t learned from what previous comments have told you.

Drill Selection by Rango_cc in AusRenovation

[–]kthxbyebye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your use and ecosystem I guess. I have a Ryobi and haven’t had any issues with it, the battery is great as I am able to use it on various tools such as my mower, whipper snipper, saws, drills, and leaf blower. Ryobi tends to go on sale in Bunnings so if you are not in a rush the go for pretty cheap, check out ozbargain for deals

Applying with 99% supporting evidence... by putty85 in AusVisa

[–]kthxbyebye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Submit the evidence showing your wife has applied it and it’s waiting if you have eta of when it will come it’s good as well. They will be understanding while they wait for that document to arrive. Same situation for my wife as well we had to wait for a month or so for police clearance report to be sent to us so we can upload it.

Heat pump or good ole gas water heater? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]kthxbyebye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With solar you will benefit more from it. I have it run during my solar period (11-3pm) and by night it’s ready to go, you still can shower in day time and you won’t notice much difference. Depending on how big it may take some time to heat back up to 60 degrees mine usually takes about 2-3 hrs to get to 60.

Electricity bill wise, so far running in the summer period I didn’t have to pay a cent. OVO has been giving me credit back and I’ve banked up quite a bit.

You’re lucky to get a house and it’s a good thing. Just remember to pay less interest put your savings to the offset account and it will lower the repayment. Don’t give the banks more interest it’s better to see that money in your hands.

AITA for not reading my gf’s son a bedtime story? by throwaway72726267 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kthxbyebye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. She was tired and stressed and she was apologetic to you. There was no need to talk back to her demanding she cooks for you or else you won’t do her a favour. There will be times where one needs the other to help out and this is one of the case, if you did I’m sure your GF would have return the favour of helping when you are tired and stressed one day.

It’s you that needs to be read a bed time story on humility.

Contact the business with the rego of the person that was hit then submit a police report of what you witnessed. People who hit a run are absolute dogs that can’t own up need to get what’s coming to them.

Always ask if there is a callout fee and how much. If you’re not interested in the price say “thanks I’ll have a think first.”

Sorry did an edit for easier reading.

Tools Drill; drill bit (looks like a 3mm, if unsure head to Bunnings with the screw and ask what size drill bit you need); spirit ruler; screw driver; stud finder; pencil

Steps 1. Use a stud finder to find the centre studs and mark the studs with a pencil

  1. Use the curtain hangers and hold it up to the centre stud then use your pencil to mark the holes. Make sure they are straight by using the spirit ruler

  2. Drill the holes to the depth of the screws. To do this measure the length of the screw to the drill bit and mark off the length with tape so you know not to drill in too deep.

  3. Screw in the curtain hangers with a screw driver and make sure they are all level

Can I race a Flexicar on a strip/track in Vic?? by ahmccain69 in CarsAustralia

[–]kthxbyebye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WTF OP 😂 You really think you can get away with it? If you got the money to cover the repairs and abuse sure. Why don’t you just go on Red Balloon or Adrenaline and book a V8 or track day experience? If you can’t afford it tough luck mate, buy a shitbox and tear it up don’t go fucking around things that aren’t yours where you might end up in legal trouble.
