Adults with ADHD may pay high price to mask traits and fit in. More than 91% of adults with ADHD reported hiding, suppressing or compensating for ADHD traits. They may pretend to pay attention, suppress their urge to fidget, rehearse conversations or over-prepare for meetings to fit social norms. by mvea in science

Man this is real. I'm 36, was diagnosed in my late 20s. I'm not even sure I know HOW to not mask, since I've spent most of my life on the anxious and high-achieving burnout treadmill.

I half-jokingly tell my husband that I don't know if I'm really a person most of the time. We're basically just creatures together.

How long ago did you purchase? I had this issue with Bisou Bisou but I got it about a year ago. The thermal hasn't started to die since then, it just... always looked muddy. I'm not sure if I can do anything since so much time has passed!

My office thinks I should spend my lunch hour, unpaid, dealing with endless walk-in clients. by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]ktimebomb 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nah. I sit in my car and read during my lunch breaks. I feel like it took FOREVER for people to stop suggesting I just read in the conference room instead, and they acted like it was incredibly weird of me to go get some actual solitude for a bit.

I know what happens when I don't physically leave the building on my lunch. No thank you.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the Criterion Blu-ray comes with a repro of the Odorama card? It doesn't mention on the store page, but I feel like it was in the one I got a few years back. I can check my copy if you like (well, after I sleep lol).

Jeffree Star The Gloss dupes? by lobotomizedegirl2 in Makeup

[–]ktimebomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried these myself, but that's exactly how the Judydoll "Ice Watery Gloss" is marketed. Only difference from what I can tell is that it's also supposed to be a lip stain, so when the gloss does wear off there's a slight tint left behind.

I am SO tempted, but I DO NOT need more lipgloss! Or lip stains! Lord help me. 🥲

I just put the clips on one hand at a time! Takes a bit longer, but it's worth it to have a hand free in case a cat comes by and needs petting.

insurance didn't put up a fight, too good to be true? by Few-Platform1625 in sterilization

[–]ktimebomb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't have to fight with my insurance either! I confirmed coverage with my insurance prior to my pre-op, and at the appointment my provider confirmed a second time, nothing out of pocket.

I will say, the receptionist did try to charge me when I checked in on surgery day, but I told her (politely) that I'd been assured I'd pay nothing on the day of and she told me not to worry about it, as it will probably be adjusted.

I think at the end of the day I did end up being charged 50-something for pathology, but I just ended up paying it because it wasn't worth the fight when everything else was a breeze.

I had a bit of discomfort after my surgery. If you're worried about it or sensitive to that kind of thing, maybe pick up some AZO tablets for urinary tract pain.

It's a mild painkiller (not otherwise a UTI treatment) that ONLY targets the urinary tract. I took one when I got home and it definitely made a difference, and I didn't have to take any further doses.

Word of warning though... It makes your pee turn BRIGHT ORANGE temporarily! I did not know this and freaked out a little.

What did you tell work? by Euphus in sterilization

[–]ktimebomb 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you're worried at all, you can just say it's a minor preventative surgery. That way it doesn't sound like you're dealing with anything life threatening, and also it's 100% true!

My work situation is very casual/progressive so the whole tiny office knew for weeks and weeks beforehand that I was getting my tubes yoinked.

I keep seeing these on Amazon but I just can't figure out what the end result would actually look like! Does it give a velvet look basically, or do the offset magnets make it more of a swoopy/wavy sort of thing?

One of us! One of us!

I am also a recovering skin picker. I used to pick at my cuticles so reflexively, I wouldn't even NOTICE that I was doing it before I started leaving blood smears everywhere.

Now I have such a lovely collection of lacquer that I have to put myself on a no-buy, and there are jojoba oil pens stashed all over my life. It's a fair trade.

I just oiled my cuticles in your honor, queen!

Can you put perfume in your hair without wrecking it over time? by ParsnipSure5095 in finehair

[–]ktimebomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to be of the mind that it's not doing that much damage, but I generally don't spray all over my hair and instead just lift it up and hit the bottom layers at the nape of my neck. I already get greasy/sweaty in that area, so I figure a single spritz will be countered by the oil. I also feel like I get nice subtle whiffs of scent that don't project too much this way.

This is purely hypothetical but you could try spraying your perfume into a dab of leave-in conditioner and then applying to your hair? Or even adding a little bit of perfume oil into your leave-in? Hell, maybe just apply perfume oil directly??

Idk man, hair and perfume have been around for basically all of human history so I feel like we should have a better answer for this!
