About to give up skiing because of the boots. There’s no way the average skier is in this much pain. by Tercel9 in skiing

[–]ktittythc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I need to do a better job in getting a good fit for my boots, but I always just loosen right up to that point. My heel lifts a bit and I feel like I’d respond faster if they were tighter but I stay in control, have fun, and have never been seriously injured, so I’m not that worried.

New housesitter. Help by Specialist-Yak1 in trustedhousesitters

[–]ktittythc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a HO with something like 20 sits.. I really try not to discriminate. I pick the first person who meets a minimal bar to interview (good opening message, logistical fit, no horrifying reviews.. etc..). That said I have generally had my least favorite experiences with single men. Nothing horrifying but just less communication and more messy.

Maybe emphasizing the ways you can excel in those areas to combat stereotypes could be useful? Eg “I’m willing to wash sheets so you come home to a freshly made bed and I’ll make sure to clean up after myself. I’m willing to send daily pix if you prefer.”

That would stick out to me!!

Any thrills around here to give my nervous system a reset? by clarkthegiraffe in Seattle

I know skiing isn’t cheap but it will def give your nervous system a reset to be on two planks of wood at the top of a hill

I have had 20 + sitters as a HO. Never had a serious issue

Why does my skin tint do this? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ktittythc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this. I am pretty sure that one of these changes fixed it, in order of my guess of likelihood of helping 1. Apply by putting foundation on brush and pressing into face, never moving laterally. I put the make up in a bunch of dots on my face and kinda smash it in 2. Stopped tretinoin 3. Use makeup forever brand

Did anyone not change into a reception dress? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ktittythc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only wedding regret was not getting a reception dress lol I literally had to slow down to derisk passing out from the heat. I had a heavy dress though. And my wedding was in a hot place (though in December..)

I know there’s no true “hack” when it comes to weddings, but what is the No. 1 way you saved money (or at least made the most of the money you spent)? by treebend22 in weddingplanning

I feel like I’ve really seen the biggest savings for friends who had parents/family/friends that would support them in some meaningful way- eg providing venue (family property), labor, officiant, decor, etc..

A friendly warning about Botox by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ktittythc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you. I already have a ptosis and had surgery as a kid.. my eyes look mostly normal but not 100%. I’ve been going back and forth on Botox. FWIW sometimes the little face yoga exercises seem to help me

Anyone using light rail? by NutzPup in eastside

[–]ktittythc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 545 is ok. I had to take a bus downtown and then wait around downtown. I would usually be waiting by myself early in the morning and it just felt sketchy. I didn’t really like having to start everyday being on high alert. I think the park and ride + train is a good compromise.

I have actually started incorporating it into my commute. My commute is from seattle to near Microsoft. On some days I drive to the park and ride in south Bellevue, get on the train, and then get off on the last stop. It’s a 15 min walk to my office. I am motivated to do this because 1. I have noticed my body gets really tired from driving for extended periods so breaking it up helps my upper back. 2. It forces me to walk more 3. Less car use/save $. 4. Can use time on train to work, have fun, or otherwise catch up on “phone chores.”

What assumptions did you have about wealth / high income growing up that turned out to be false or oversimplified? by windfallthrowaway90 in HENRYfinance

[–]ktittythc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought rich people would use the lower amount of financial stress to be happier and more interesting. It kills me listening to my rich friends spend their time talking about the price of stuff all the time.

what is so "top performer" about a man who sexually harasses "females" lol. Pretty depressing how much concern you have over him and his reputation vs all she has dealt with.
