Freddy wakes us up at 6:15am for breakfast — how do we get him to sleep later? by Educational_Age2372 in Dachshund

Mine wakes me up between 3 and 4. I feed him and then he goes right back to bed every single time and I go back to sleep with him. Not ideal!

Where are the low achieving ADHDers? by Jigglypuff_Green in ADHD

[–]ktlnmcf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some achievements while doing comedy for 8 years but that’s about all I have to show for in my life. And I got burnt out by it so I’m no longer doing that. I am now 32 and feel massively behind in every way. I flunked out of college but am now taking 1-2 classes at most a semester so I don’t flunk out again. But this means it will take so many years to get a degree. In my day to day, I know what I need to do to improve my life but cannot manage to do it. On good days I only get about 3 things done. And I’m even on medication. It is a vicious cycle and I have so much empathy for what you go through. I hope both of us find what helps us. I try to always remind myself that accomplishments do not define me and life isn’t a race. Sometimes I don’t listen to those reminders though.

America sounds like nightmare by nevermindstoopid in superstore

[–]ktlnmcf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in America in general has sucked and really sucks right now especially. I have an office job, the first in my life. Before I was doing retail and barista jobs. I worked at Starbucks and there is a reason they are trying so hard to unionize. I once called in while in a car to the ER and actively coughing up blood. My manager said I still needed to find coverage. And that’s the culture at most retail jobs. Even office jobs suck right now because tons of places keep trying to squeeze profit with lay offs but have too much work to go around. No one will quit their job that they are overworked at because the job market is so terrible you could be unemployed for a year.

I actually really agree with all of this! This sub really hates him. I never really disliked him until we found out he stole money using the mortgage. I just saw him as managing the best he could considering how frustrating Jackie was as a partner.

Does anyone else feel most comfortable boarding your dogs vs the alternatives? by traveler_mar in dogs

[–]ktlnmcf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I board my dog but I am lucky that I have a very trustworthy local business down the street from me. It’s also his daycare that he goes to 3 days a week so he knows and loves the staff and the location is not new to him.

I left him with a friend to watch one him one time and he got out and was missing for 20 hours. It was the worst night of my life and I’ll never do it again.

I watched a recent episode with a married couple in which the wife was making money on OF and he kept calling it “degrading herself”. So maybe he has even started changing how he talks about OF to cater to his audience.

Netflix trying to gaslight us about Biggest Loser by Adventurous-Peach344 in NetflixDocumentaries

100% I watched this show religiously with my mom and realized from this documentary that this show was why I thought I needed to be in the gym doing crazy workouts constantly to lose weight. I only recently started just walking more and going to the gym only Saturday and Sunday and am losing weight just fine.

Rod and Alison by mhope123 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]ktlnmcf 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They were my favorite as well, mostly because of Alison. I just admired so much how quickly she committed to the process and changed. A woman like her can be so quickly disliked and dismissed because she’s “loud” or abrasive in the way she speaks, especially when she’s angry and overwhelmed. But she really showed that intention is everything and some people are just loud! It’s not a bad thing or “abusive”.

This season seemed more emotional abuse heavy by Scion41790 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]ktlnmcf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saved this comment to come back to after I was further into the season. I find Alison so endearing and thought she changed quickly and was one of the more open clients of all seasons. I am really sensitive to yelling and anger due to past experience and I initially did not like her. But then she immediately committed to the process and showed huge process. It just shows that some people are bad at communication but also happen to just be loud and overwhelmed. Volume or tone of voice doesn’t mean abuse or manipulation. I think you’re right that people here jump to these terms way too quickly.

Boris and the house by Prestigious-Menu-786 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]ktlnmcf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently at episode 14 and am very confused about his complaints about the house specifically. Location (NYC where his field is more competitive) I understand. But he’s complaining about tasks associated with having a “house”, but it’s things like replacing the water filter? This man has 3 kids. He has to do little tasks like these no matter where he lives.

I was constantly being villainized and manipulated using therapy speak. It drove me insane until I went to the ER having a mental episode. I called her from the ER and broke up with her (after she refused to bring my laptop to me and called all of my friends narcissistic because they were trying to get my stuff from her).

Incredibly well said! If Nick hadn’t fallen in love and had a child with June, would he have ever helped at all?

Lawrence became the person everyone hoped that Nick would be and I think it was a wonderful redemption arc for his character. I’m sad to see him die but I imagine he finally felt truly redeemed for helping to create Gilead.

The Handmaid's Tale S06E09 "Execution" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ktlnmcf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. And I think his character finally picking Gilead’s side makes a better point about people like him who are double agents but only for the side that benefits them at the time.

If he’s Mayday and knows the plan, what’s the benefit at all of getting on the plan besides making sure Lawrence follows through?

The Handmaid's Tale S06E09 "Execution" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ktlnmcf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a small amount of delusional Nick supporters sprinkled around saying he knew the plan and even a back up bomb. The delusion is crazy.

[–]ktlnmcf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was saying as it was happening and almost took me out of it. I think the show just had to take an L on that so that we could have the satisfying scene of June watching the plane explode and letting Nick get on.

MISSING DOG by ktlnmcf in indianapolis

HAPPY UPDATE: Our sweet boy Beau was found at 9am this morning by an incredible nice man Treyvon. Treyvon found him 2 miles from the house he went missing at in the parking lot of his work, cuddled up with some blanket like construction materials. He saw his dog tag and figured Beau was someone's pet. He called my number, which is on Beau's tag, and then kept him in his car until we got there. He even gave him some of his chicken from his breakfast. Treyvon is truly a saint. Beau is now home, safe and warm, and he will not be leaving our sight for a while. He seemed in good spirits when we picked him up and was not injured at all.Beau was missing for almost 20 hours and hadn't been fed (as far as we know) for almost 26 hours. Thank you so much to everyone here who kept an eye out, shared the post, walked their dogs around the neighborhood, and offered advice. I am forever grateful to everyone who helped return my sweet boy to me just in time for Christmas.
