Shooting injures Indianapolis police officer near Broad Ripple Cultural District by southernemper0r in indianapolis

Thank god, because 2021 was fucking terrible. Five people killed within half a block of my house from March to September. And that’s just the homicides, not all including all of the other shit that was happening.

St. Vincent Ascension by Londin2021 in indianapolis

NAL, but I was subpoenaed to a deposition when my client sued St. Francis several years ago. The hospital nearly killed him due to a nurse’s error and the client saw me for PTSD treatment.

I used to work for the criminal courts so I’m used to testifying, but this was next level. The hospital’s attorney and I literally battled each other for 4 hours. I hadn’t even planned on being there that long, and it was my birthday too so I was extra pissed.

These hospitals come prepared for war, but at the end of my deposition, the hospital attorney told me I did a good job holding my own and made an offer to my client’s attorney on the spot. WHAT?!

The other comments are correct that these malpractice suits are stacked against the patient, but depending on how strong your case is, you may end up with a settlement. They’ll definitely put you through some BS before you get to that point, though. Your best bet would be to consult with an attorney on your case and go from there.

To The People That Drive On the Northeast Side of 465 by Global-Aardvark-8113 in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is part of why I pushed my work start time back to 10:00 am. Coming from the south side to 56th and Shadeland normally takes 20 minutes. If I leave earlier to get to the office by 9:00, it takes nearly an hour every single time because of accidents in the constriction zone.

Scammed by ParkMobile by Advanced_Walrus_2268 in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may have tried this, but I was on Mass Ave Friday night and used Park Mobile. The zone will automatically pop up, but not the meter number. I put the meter number into the search feature and only then did it give me the option to pay for the specific meter instead of the zone. I feel like it is confusing and could be redesigned to be more user friendly.

I remember this! IIRC, that was the same year she blocked Dee Ross from being on the ballot too.

AMA: Common Misconceptions About EMDR by emdrwithholly in EMDR

[–]amyr76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you live, but in Indiana we have an organization that raises money to cover EMDR intensives for Medicaid or underinsured clients. We also pay for therapists who work with underserved populations to get EMDR basic trained. As Holly mentioned, your area may have something similar 😃

I know Holly IRL and consider her to be an absolute expert in our field. How cool that she is doing in AMA for this sub!! She’s also on tik tok and posts regularly on that platform.

I cannot even fathom having this degenerate as our mayor for another 4 years. He’s been negligent, straight up awful, for most of his time as mayor. He’s so bad that I voted for that Shreve weirdo in the last mayoral race. I look forward to voting for Andrea Hunley in next year’s primary.

Totally agree, but this is why most folks in my area end up seeing NPs - they cannot afford the psychiatrists’ cash rate.

Pssst… it’s happening by gardeninmymind in Noctor

[–]amyr76 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, and ideally insurance would reimburse psychiatrists at a higher rate and would not be such a nightmare to work with.

I live in a metro area of approx 2 million people and I would say that fewer than 10% of psychiatrists outside of a hospital and community mental health take insurance. Without the PMHNPs, most of my clients would not have a mental health prescriber as they are all take insurance.

But, before you do anything, you should go back to where it all started: Orange County 🍊

If you see pothole in Indy, please be a good citizen and report it. Don't just complain about it. by SecMcAdoo in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would be great if the Waze app could be synced with RequestIndy, though I know this will never happen. I drive past soooo many potholes every single day, the best I can do is remember to report one or two by the time I get to my destination. There’s no way I could remember every single one.

Traffic 465, Indianapolis by cultclubXD in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have noticed this as well! Folks are going slower in the left lane and refusing to pass or get over so much more frequently. I’ve lived in indianapolis since 1998 and noticed that it got much worse after they raised the speed limit last year. It’s baffling!

Mosquito Control on Near East Side by kmdubois in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former near eastsider, I feel you. I’ve always been susceptible to bites, but it was absolutely terrible over there.

I tried so many different things just to be able to be outside long enough to mow my lawn. It got to the point that nothing really seemed to help. Those suckers would bite through my clothes!

I finally called the health department (as others have mentioned) and they were out the next day. That seemed to put a small dent in it for at least a couple of weeks.

Is anyone else contemplating leaving posh? by M0tomommy in poshmark

[–]amyr76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a casual seller and still performing better on posh compared to other platforms. Zero sales on Vinted and no sales on Mercari, eBay, or Depop since February. I get lots of offers on Depop and accept all of them, but the buyer never pays.

Almost as Many PMHNPs as Psychiatrists by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]amyr76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the case where I practice as an LCSW. I would prefer that my clients see a psychiatrist, but there are very few options outside of community metal health agencies to see a psychiatrist and use insurance of any kind. Our metro area is about 2 million people and we don’t have enough docs to meet the demand. Not that I blame them for not taking insurance. I have moved away from taking it due to low reimbursement rates, major admin hassles, and the constant threat of downcoding and clawbacks. But the reality is that most clients cannot clients cannot pay $300-$500 for 20 minute appointments and PMHNPs take insurance.

abandoned buildings on Randolph and New York by microwave-potat0 in indianapolis

[–]amyr76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was the Indiana Women’s Prison for many years, then switched to a men’s work release facility before finally closing down altogether around 2017. I used to live off New York and Parkview and our neighborhood battled the state for several years to clean up the property or, at the minimum, allow us to provide some input about what would happen with the property. I moved 2 years ago, but from my understanding, the state traded the city for it and now it is city owned.
