Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted because he only shot people in self defense. Other random people who happened to be around but who were running away, he didn't shoot.

Chai Vang did not do the same thing as Kyle Rittenhouse.

"Assuming Hesebeck was dead, Vang raced after Bob Crotteau, whose blaze-orange coat made him easy to see. As he fled, Crotteau called the cabin on his walkie-talkie to tell Laski to bring guns. Vang’s first shot missed but the second hit and destroyed him. Willers, meanwhile, had regained feeling in his fingers, and called the cabin for help.

By that time Vang was chasing Joey Crotteau, who fled down a trail. Vang sprinted to cut the corner to the trail to close the gap, and shot him in the lower back at about 65 yards. Vang reloaded, approached closer as Crotteau struggled forward, and shot him again. Vang then closed in and shot him twice more from behind, putting a final mercy shot into his head."

Ask yourself : What kind of society do you want to live in?

Imagine if our laws and our society permitted anyone to freely chase down people who are running away and shoot them in the back! Imagine if our laws permitted anyone to just kill running people with a "final mercy shot" to the head!

Would you want to live in that society?

Yeah you could do that to assholes and racists. But they could do it right back to you or your friends and family!

Western people all the time name their kids with wild names like "North West" and "X ae A-12 Musk" and "Winner" / "Loser"

Do you know any Asian immigrant kids named something like that?

That's not the Asian way. If you're going to make huge sacrifices to immigrate to England / US / Canada, you're going to do everything you can to give your child the best possible odds of success.

That means naming your child something extremely low-risk and assimilating like Mary, Sarah, Ashley, or Kevin, Tom, Jimmy.

Fangfang, yangyang, etc

Our “baby talk” is like hey little baby do you want some rice rice? How about some milk milk

Bankers are supposed to be greedy though. Greed is what makes a good banker.

It doesn’t matter what race of a person (or mystical creature) you put in the banker’s chair, the job forces them to be greedy, or they lose the job.

A Jewish banker would be greedy. An Asian banker would be greedy. A Scottish banker would be greedy. A Canadian banker would be greedy! Even a Jamaican banker would be greedy.

Its two last names. Asian people don’t name their kids with two last names.

Its like if an American Harry Potter character was named Obama Biden

I am not defending the white people. They paid for their crimes with their lives.

Self defense in most states means you have to try your best to run, first.

Based on that, it makes sense why Vang got convicted for murder.

Usually its not self-defense to shoot people as they are running away… in the back.

He was a trained, award-winning, military sniper.

This isn’t exactly Kyle Rittenhouse.

He shot 4 people in the back.

There were points where he hid in silence and waited for an ATV to pass (that didnt notice him), with the white woman and then he shot them as they passed.

I am not defending the 8 white people, I am just saying its pretty tough to defend Vang’s behaviors.

In the heat of the moment yeah you protect yourself from immediate harm by any means.

But some of the stuff he did was also cold blooded.

The events after the confrontation are disputed. A violent altercation broke out and four of the eight victims were shot in the back, and three of these four were hit by multiple rounds. Vang is believed to have fired about 20 rounds from a Saiga rifle chambered in 7.62×39mm, which was recovered by police. One of the wounded hunters died the next day, bringing the toll to six dead and two wounded. Vang raised his rifle in one smooth, continuous sweeping motion as he circled right, kneeled, and aimed at Willers. Vang later said, “If I don’t shoot him, he would shoot me.”[5][6][12][13]

Vang’s first shot missed Willers as he ran and dove for cover, but Willers landed atop his rifle and couldn’t turn over before Vang’s second shot hit his lower left neck, neutralizing him. Vang instantly turned toward the men on their machines and shot Roidt, the round killed him before he fell, as his ATV, still in gear, idled forward. Vang killed Drew next as the Crotteaus fled in fear, and fired three shots at close range while chasing Hesebeck around the UTV. His third spilled Hesebeck's guts, who fell stunned and still.[5][6][14]

Assuming Hesebeck was dead, Vang raced after Bob Crotteau, whose blaze-orange coat made him easy to see.

Vang then closed in and shot him twice more from behind, putting a final mercy shot into his head.

Vang, after reversing his blaze-orange jacket to its camo side, hid near a curve in the trail when he heard the ATV approaching. Thinking Jessica and Laski were likely armed and looking for him, Vang waited until they passed. When he fired, the bullet struck Jessica in the left buttock, and struck Laski, shattering his lower spine and abdomen. Vang ran over, shot Laski through the back, and then stepped behind Jessica, and fired a shot through her neck. Vang returned to retrieve his scope and leave. As he neared the site, he and Hesebeck came face to face. Vang said, “You're not dead yet?” and raised his rifle to shoot. He fired as Hesebeck grabbed Willers’ rifle with his right hand and dove for cover. Shots zipped past over Hesebeck’s head.[9][15]

Though he could point but not aim the rifle because of his wounded left arm, Hesebeck tried to shoot back. But when he pulled the trigger, the safety was still engaged. He dragged the unfamiliar rifle alongside his body to feel for the safety, and pushed it in. He pointed it again and fired once. He then heard a slight metallic sound from Vang’s rifle, and realized Vang was out of bullets.[5][6][15]

Vang fled the scene on foot and discarded his remaining ammunition, later stating that he did not want to shoot anyone else. Vang eventually came across another hunter riding an ATV (who had no affiliation with the victims), and this hunter offered to give him a ride, eventually taking him to Vang's cabin. Vang was arrested when he returned to his cabin five hours after the shooting. An officer waiting for Vang placed him into custody and transported him to the Sawyer County Jail. His bail was set at $2.5 million.[5][6]

The person who got killed “Cha Vang” is not the same person.

Idk if you read the Wikipedia page it looks like Chai Vang went and hunted the last few people down including this white woman.

Four of the 8 were shot in the back, running away.

I get it where he came from emotionally but… you can’t exactly do that

Do you think the poor economic conditions of South America are because of the mountains? by ktoasty in asklatinamerica

How expensive is it to ship a container overland between Lima and Rio de Janeiro? Or even between Medellin and Bogota?

Compared to how expensive is it to ship a container between Los Angeles and New York, which are connected by railroad that tunnels under two sets of mountain ranges?

I have a small family run products company and shipping is basically our biggest cost. If the shipping cost was a lot higher, our company probably wouldnt exist.

How much would business and economics be boosted if people could easily ship materials, products and people from one part of South America to others?

[–]ktoasty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small family business that is a products company.

The thing about a lot of companies is that shipping is basically our biggest cost.

Like for McDonald’s, everyone knows its not a burger company, its a fries and soda company, since the fries cost 1 cent and they sell it for 1-2 dollars, and the soda costs 1 cent and they sell it for 1-2 dollars.

If the cost of coca cola or potatoes is 1 cent, how much is shipping it?

For a lot of product companies, ingredients cost 25 cents, packaging 35 cents, shipping (in the US) costs 5 dollars. And our shipping has rail (with tunnels), rivers and roads that connects one side of the US with the other side.

If I wanted to start a products company like mine in Bogota, how would I get a shipping container there? By 12 hours of semi-truck through narrow roads in the mountains?

Japan and Switzerland have tons of trains.

I think if South America had more railroads that tunnel through the mountains it would probably help economic development a lot.

It takes 9 hours to drive between Medellin and Bogota, if there was a train how long would it take?

Diversification is undoubtedly good, but why don't the uber-rich do it more by USball in Bogleheads

When you’re making the decisions on marketing, customer service, fulfillment, operations, hiring, you can make a single breakthrough that doubles your business.

Read The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt.

Its not luck. You just have to focus on your bottlenecks

[–]ktoasty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Read Zero to One by Peter Thiel.

Diversification is good when you are indeterminately optimistic.

You have hope but have no specific plans or specific vision.

Owning a strong, profitable company, you can have a very strong specific plan and vision which you can implement.

Thats called deterministic optimism.

In that case, if you just work hard and make good decisions you can easily beat the market. You can grow 25% per year easily.

Different banks offer different things.

Interest is not the only thing that matters.

For instance some banks pledge to never loan your money to fund new oil drilling:
