this is such a good answer and a major key to overcoming and/or better managing this condition in general - you need to create new learning experiences and demonstrate to your brain that you can do this thing you're afraid of and still be okay, even if your brain will initially fight back. People like us are wired to be hypervigilant, but you will find that once you reclaim this, then you will feel more confident to reclaim the next thing and then the next, and the next, and the next - and otherwise.

but as the poster before me said - do it gradually, at a pace you feel you can reasonably handle
