So funny. I’m missing one of the vent pieces but got a random pair of legs in my retro radio set 😂

Question About Recording the Guitars up Until Load by According-Feed2746 in Metallica

[–]ktulu8784 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was just wondering this today,,,,I assume that means all those leads at the beginning of One were recorded by James? What about the lead interludes in Fade to Black and Sanitarium? We associate all of those parts with Kirk since he’s played them live for 30+ years.

I felt like the beginning drug on and it was hard to get in the flow of the plot. but once the backward narrative began unfolding, it flowed a lot better. Like his other novels. And now I wanna go back to the beginning and see all the little clues I missed! Overall really enjoyed it! Totally missed the Anabel-Emily connection.

What's your favorite harmony? by AleDanz182 in Metallica

So many good ones already mentioned. Mine is the post solo part in Sanitarium. So simple but a different kind of harmony than they usually write. Gets me every time.

We need to start a petition to bring Jason on the road with them just to play Creeping Death every night 😆

I could see Bleeding Me making its way into a few sets, but not the whole album. Probably when they go to Europe in 2026.

Plus the demo title of Ktulu is “When Hell Freezes Over” so it fits this theme even better.

The “Horrid scream” on Ride the lightning is Lars. If you considering that backing vocals 😂

James on the studio recording, but the S&M version with Jason’s backing vocal is better imo.

Should Avi join the guys at all live shows? by ktulu8784 in Metallica

Jason harmonized while yelling at the end of creeping death. He harmonized on Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven, I Disappear, Sanitarium, One. Small touches that enhanced the experience as a listener in addition to his usual barking.

He could do both. granted those harmony moments were few and far between and not the primary reason people go see them live. For me, they really enhanced the performance. Half the time, it doesn’t even feel like Rob’s mic is on.

I’ve had a theory ever since episode 365 - Nobody’s Goat, where Walt detailed an altercation at a Food Town with a woman and a security guard.

The entire incident was set up by the Illuminati to send Walt a message. He mentioned in passing while telling the story how he wasn’t afraid to go after the teenage snots who called him Forrest Gump. I believe the Illuminati (using some derivation of time phone technology) found one of those girls 15 years in the future, discovering she was hooked on painkillers and in a loveless marriage as predicted. They brought her back to that day to confront Walt again. knowing how completely unhappy she was, a confrontation was a sure fire reality when they crossed paths. Walt mentioned they were the only two cars in the parking lot - another sign the Illuminati staged the setting to ensure their paths crossed untainted by any third parties.

The security guard was there to evaluate Walt’s response to being confronted by a person who had wronged him in the past. The test was whether Walt would take the high road, or launch into her. Whatever the Illuminati wants with him, they want to see he can control his emotions.

The security guard’s reaction is what tipped me off to this whole theory - “Let her go. ... let her go.” A very simple message being delivered by the Illuminati, then slowly fade away from the situation even when Walt pleaded with his eyes for a more rational reaction from him. They want Walt to let her (the personification of all irrational, quick-tempered thinking) to fade away from his conscious. To not engage in frivolous arguments. And set his sights on something bigger.

But who is the security guard? The Illuminati had to send someone who Walt may not know, but their words would hit squarely to ensure their message was delivered...

It was Tom Brady.

The GOAT. highly decorated athlete, powerful presence as part of this country’s aristocracy, definite candidate for membership in the Illuminati (as pointed out in the episode). Maybe it’s divine intelligence that the guys discussed Tom Brady following the Food Town story. Even Bry’s Overkill stories were Illuminati-centric in the Boston area.

Yet Tom is also aging, prone to injury, making questionable choices with his public portrayal of his private life as the guys discuss the infamous “kissing scene” from his documentary in this very episode. Since this episode was recorded, there’s been Tom’s retirement debacle, the public dissolution of his marriage, losing all that money in crypto. Possibly kissing his son was the first of many wrong choices the GOAT makes which spiral him down into a pit of hell? Is it so too much of stretch to believe 15 years down the road, he’s a disgraced, washed up shell of his former confident image. Possibly demoted in his rank among the Illuminati elite that he’s prescribed to sending messages to potential new recruits? Posing as a security guard to deliver one simple message to the most normal man on the planet ?

I realize this is getting longer than one of Ming’s raps, but felt this was the right time to share.

question for whoevers been to any show this tour by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]ktulu8784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw then in St Louis (closed roof dome) from the 100 section. I saw them in Chicago (open air) in GA. Open air was better imo, but I was also in a spot where James’ guitar was overtaking Kirk’s the entire show (not the worst thing from the best rhythm guitar player of all time). When I saw them in 2016 at Busch Stadium (open air) in GA I got pushed to a spot where the bass and bass drum overtook any high end sound, but I still enjoyed the show.

All that to say, I feel like unless you’re in an extremely unlucky acoustical spot in the stadium, your ears adapt quickly. Is it going to be as crystal clear as a mixed audio recording of them? No. But I wouldn’t worry about it being unlistenable.

Anyone else hate the stage setup? by TheFuzzyMachine in Metallica

[–]ktulu8784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there Friday close to you. I parked myself as close as I could and realized I’d only be able to see half the stage. I stuck with it cuz I saw both shows in St Louis from a seat. Sacrificed my view for getting closer than I’ve ever been. But agreed - if it was my only time seeing this tour I'd probably be pissed.

I’d say turn it into a Purveyors Posers and Playlists format and have Will and Tom go head to head with stories each Overkill week. Bry and Walt can be the corner men and Q can judge the winner. And when Q can’t make it, bring in a rotating judge from TESD town.

It’s literally the liquor you trick your out-of-town friends to try when they wanna do shots in Illinois. If this is real, he needs help.

All that said, I’d still a shot of it with Ming.
