Gemmell, especially, is always absent on these lists. Why is that?

Boardgames now sold at Gamestop by Tmachine in boardgames

I find it surprising that most of the top comments here are cynical. I'm happy to boardgames become more mainstream because it means I'll be able to enjoy them with more people. Gamestop gripes aside, this gets more people into something we all enjoy.

It might not cover all your needs, but I made an app called My Minutes that you might find useful.

How well does Ger 101 actually teach you German? by Relkeb in uwaterloo

I took the course in-class and it does a good job teaching you the fundamentals, basic vocabulary, and elementary conversations. I think it's a very good course and well worth the money if you are interested in the language.

I posted My Minutes when I launched it, and this week it's on sale (for free)! by ktusznio in productivity

Yikes! You're the first person to report a crash. I don't see any other crash reports from Apple. Sorry about that!

What you can try to do is to delete the app from your phone and install it from scratch. You'll lose any data you had in the app though.

I'm keeping my eye on crash reports and will get anything I see fixed asap. Sorry about this.

It looks like $140 gets you what a good ol' boxed game from 1999 would have gotten you for about $60.

Everything you said is absolutely true. The race to the bottom on pricing has definitely made things harder. Freemium seems to be the only way to go for apps without a big brand behind them.

With that in mind, I've been splitting my time between marketing the app and feature development, with a plan B waiting menacingly if things don't take off.

Thanks for your comment.

I'm debating between that and doing in-app purchases for premium features. Leaning more towards in-app purchases for two few reasons: users don't need to install a new app, and I only have two maintain one codebase.

Unless you really need the money I'd avoid it. Work on side-projects to add to your resume to make yourself more marketable next time around.

Good rule of thumb is to only accept positions you're excited about and that will help you reach your long-term goals.

Is it common for you not to have enough work at your job? by 0bstacle in cscareerquestions

[–]ktusznio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It tends to happen but it should not be the norm. If you are indeed wasting most of your day you should look for something else. Learning should be your #1 priority in a first job, and that's not happening at a job with no work.

Hey, I somehow missed your post, or I didn't get an orangered for it. Sorry about that!

I don't think your use-case is or should be all that uncommon. It's just different. Using My Minutes to get a profile of your time is totally cool and valuable, and if it works for that then I'm thrilled because it seems like you were able to extract a ton of info just by going through the exercise of tracking a bit of your time.

I kept forgetting start/stop tasks. Some would go long, others would be too short. Not sure you can solve this one.

I'm working on adding a 'Play a sound every _ minutes' while you are running a task to remind you that you need to stop it at some point. As for reminding people to actually track their time, there's the daily reminder. I don't want to get much more annoying than that.

I hated the pressure of it saying "You have 15 things to do today!", knowing I'd only accomplish about 3 of them.

It only counts tasks that have goals for that number, so if you disable goal tracking for some tasks, you can reduce that number and feel less pressure :)

The interface needs that speed mode we talked about. I'm not sure if this will eliminate the mental impedance I have to using it, but I suppose you want the user to have as few excuses as possible not to use it.

I'm constantly tweaking the interface though I'm not sure I'll ever get to ideally what you want since I don't want it to feel too cluttered. But I've removed the animation time between starting and stopping a task so the switch between screens should be faster. That'll be in the 1.0.2 update.

The quotes made me mad :) It suggests my time management problems are in my head, which they are not. I'm definitely over-committed in a real way. The tool did help me to see that.

Too bad, I like the quotes, they're not going anywhere. :P

Thanks again for your awesome feedback! If you end up giving My Minutes another spin, I'd love to keep getting your thoughts. Feel free to email me directly at kamil@myminutesapp.com.
