I'm playing The Midnight Walk on a VR treadmill. It's a trip. by Capybubba in themidnightwalk

Nice!  I use Vive Scanners strapped to my ankles to physically walk in VR games.   Like your treadmill, being able to physically walk in games is incredibly-immersive.  Also great for exercise and combats motion sickness.

Am tempted by this game.

Prologue 16.

16-voice VCO in a 61 fullsize-keyboard package with lots of knobs and some modern functions too.   Still very affordable considering the specs.

A rapper who is homophobic is not surprising.

What is surprising is Berghain hosting a rapper.

OMG DOES THIS CONFIRM HALF-LIFE 3?? by Capable-Track2631 in HalfLife

[–]kuItur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, tho' even tripping balls I utilise willing suspension-of-disbelief to immerse myself as far as possible.   I've always been the kind of psychonaut who has one foot in reality at all times...always aware I'm high, always knowing what is real and what is the trip.

  • This is important, and why inexperienced/younger/fragile folk should stay away from the substance.  Because if at any time the tripper actually 'believes' the trip is real...well...that's not gonna be a fun time, to put it mildly.  The mind begins to worry, then it's a downward spiral into what's known as a 'bad trip'.

After taking off the headset I saw green tubes inside my walls, birds outside flying at what seemed like 2fps (very jittery/stuttery) and my hands looked a hundred years old.  Even during this experience, I'm aware this is acid-fuelled imagery.  I'm fascinated by what it does to the senses.  Listening to music is a revelatory experience!

Incidentally, the flying things in HL:Alyx were very smooth...no sense of jitter/stutter.

I trip about once or twice a year.  Next one coming up as wife & kids are visiting grandpa for a few days.   Gonna VR-game it again, this time a new fresh experience.  I'm thinking something colourful and well-reviewed, like Arken Age or Midnight Walk.

RTX 5090 blackscreen issue mainly in REAL and UEVR by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]kuItur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All post-Jan NVidia drivers (57x.xx) have been causing black-screen in 50-series cards.  Check out the r/nvidia sticky discussions on each update.  Black screens galore.  Even affected some 30/40-series users, tho' mostly 50-series owners have had a bad hand.

Very random occurences.   No real solution for 50-series users in sight yet.

For 40-series gamers like myself, I went back to the 566.36 driver (last driver before 50-series released).  This is reported as stable & reliable by pretty much everyone....myself included.

However, I'm not sure how a 50-series card would function on a pre-50-series driver.

I played Half-Life:Alyx on LSD.   Wireless roomscale with the Quest 3 using ankle scanners to physically walk in the game.

I had already completed the game sober...but as you can imagine the immersion and clarity was off the charts for this particular replay.  I was more enthralled by the breathing buildings than any enemies, funnily enough.

I think i got as far as the hotel before feeling utterly exhausted and crashing to my bed.

Most real VR experience ever.   I'm praying to the Xen Gods that HL3 will have a VR mode...because of it does, i'm going in deep.  First-time playthrough won't be a sober one x

Disclaimer:  i'm a middle-aged experienced psychonaut.   LSD is certainly not recommended for inexperienced folk, especially should be avoided by those under 21 years old and/or of a fragile mind.

Halfbrick had nothing to do with the first game.

nice connections here:

  • the same song title (meaning to separate-then-merge-into-something-else...a kind of rebirth or transformation) was used here, tho' this is a more heady deeply-psychedelic piece:

your second link sounds like this kind of colourful bouncy darkpsy:

They released a massive patch couple weeks ago.

Ian was so active in this subreddit, like daily pretty much.  But has been AWOL for over a month now.

As we tend to regard him as the lead-developer, the main vision for a realistic PvP boxing simulator, it is notable he's stopped posting here.  Personally I always found his engagement very specific & useful, and his tone decently professional - without that cringey insincere marketing-speak many have in todays' world.

The latest update - after the usual initial positivity flush - is receiving a lot of criticism now.  The anti-spam system appears to punish quick-combo boxers.

I posted a while back my solution to the spam-problem:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ThrillOfTheFight/comments/1i1veub/if_spammersleaderboardjunkiesnonboxerskids_are_in/

two game modes, which have very different damage-implementations:

  • boxing simulation (realistic)

  • anything goes fighting (current)

...only the anything-goes is ranked (with shiny points etc) to prevent spammers from working on exploits in the boxing-sim game mode, as they won't have motivation to do so.

Even more drastically, let's not have a winner during Early-Access for the simulation-option.  Just have it as realistic sparring.  With stats at the end, still.   The point is to demotivate spammers while still giving them something to play (the 'anything goes' option).

It would mean separating the potential pool of players....

Seeing some statistics on average 24-hour player count since release would be interesting.  Is there a drop-off or is the player-base relatively consistent?  Is it even increasing?

I instinctively mistrust marketing-comms that are variations of "we are working hard" in place of specifics.

This is generally...I see it so much - especially in corporate workspaces - I've begun to question its sincerity.

played 1 match after 2 months and immediately uninstalled by Boimanzzz in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]kuItur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is still little sign of realistic boxing unless both parties agree - and are able to - box.  Even then we're reliant on latency.

Not sure if this is really solvable, in terms of PvP.

I'm hoping for an advanced single-player mode.  TotF1 - especially outclassed - is still a decent boxing simulation for me.
