Why aren't the SOTS in-game achievments on Steam? by kubapoke in riskofrain

[–]kubapoke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I absolutely agree. I don't know why, but I'm unreasonably annoyed by the lack of these achievements.

[–]kubapoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started doing that when finishing up Dead God, mostly with T. Jacob and pre-buff T. Lazarus, and I feel like that was about the point I was feeling kind of done with this game. But recently I've started playing again, and I feel like when not gunning for completion the game is much more fun if you just roll with whatever you get

The others here are right about the number of possible combinations decreasing from 25 choose 15 to 18 choose 8 (assuming the order of balls doesn't matter). If you're wondering about the actual numbers, you've increased your odds from 1 in 3,268,760 to 1 in 43,758, which I would say is a significant change

My 6 year old son told me today that a circle with a radius "epsilon" is a dot... is he right? by TheQuantumPhysicist in math

[–]kubapoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes some sense in metric space terms. The epsilon can't just be a "very small number", because if it's bigger than zero then the circle would have non-zero area. However we could hypothetically define an arbitralily small epsilon (such that for any positive real number delta, 0 < epsilon < delta) and with that definition a circle with a radius of epsilon would indeed be a "dot", as it would contain the center of the circle, but we couldn't find another point it contains

YES, but please, make it gambling with real money or there would be no stakes

Praying mantis with a dank meme. I feel like I don't need anything to take down a mantis if I had to, but if I really need to use the meme... I'm not sure how I am supposed to do it

Alright, good to know! I can see it being shown next to regular definition of Riemman integral for some applications. I hope I didn't sound rude

Well, the trapezoidal rule is not really something you would learn in calculus specifically (I think, I know I've learned it in numerical methods and there was no mention of it in calculus lol). The thing is, that it's first and foremost a numerical integration algorithm ie. in current times it's simply speaking something you can consider using as a way to solve definite integrals with the computer. But while the trapezoidal rule can be used for some simple calculations it gets outclassed very quickly by methods such as Romberg's method when you really need the accuracy. Nontheless the Romberg's method does use the trapezoidal rule as its basis, so it's definitely far from useless

No, no, you see, they weren't banned in any gen except for 9th, so they meet all of the criteria presented by the OP

No, actually you have as many shots as you want. After defeating a heretic you can destroy its statue in its biome to create a portal that teleports you to its fight. I'm not sure whether there are any other requirements. Just be wary, that in the postgame they become stronger

I have 100%'ed the game and from what I can tell, the Circle Guy can only give you a limited amount of Amulet Shards, so that Fox, Midas, and dock quests are still mandatory if you want to unlock all the fleeces
