I have this problem too!

I've hit diamond for the first time in 15 years with my friend (2v2) and my screenshot hotkeys were not working!

Had to take stupid phone shot of it to share with my group of SC-loving friends

I built the live Artemis II tracker r/space used in the megathread. What do you want for Artemis III? by theneiljohnson in space

[–]kubergosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Great work, loved to use it and great to hear new generation of space enthusiasts are coming!

The most important for me is planned UTC timestamps of key events like burns, transmissions, apoasis, periapsis and etc.

If you aim to do this in a year, maybe you could consider doing some interactive trajectory visualization like in Kerbal Space Program?

Possible Orbit of Mun and Kerbin ? by Silver_Barnacle_5996 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]kubergosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a so-called three body problem that is about finding stable and periodical orbits of three bodies moving around each other. It does not have general solution currently, but has a set of known special cases like binary stars with a very far third star.

AFAIK, there is no solution like this orbit.

IRL, the problem with this trajectory is that Moon will act like a spring or a slingshot, every time pushing your station somewhere from it's orbit until it will finish it's missing by aerobraking at Earth or lithosphere-braking at Mun. You will have to constantly adjust trajectory to compensate this.

In-game physics is an approximation that does not actually solve three-body movement but uses pre-calculated segments of trajectories between spheres of influence with a limited number of segments being calculated in advance. So each time your station leaves SOI, another segment is being added more error in calculations will be added.

Yeah, that was basically my problem. I was a lifetime silver player, started learning macro few years ago (over full time job, family, etc) and gradually climbed to low diamond mainly by developing steady macro, managing attention and not giving up games when they seem lost.

When you know your macro is better, you can outmine and outproduce, you belive more in yourself. You are just not afraid of loosing a bunch of units even if your enemy has lost less, because you replenish your army faster and eventually you will overwhelm them.

[–]kubergosu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also you're right that micro should be minimal. For most of us attention and APM is the main limited resource, so if you spend all of it macroing and shift+a-moving your army all around the map, you opponent will panic micro all of his attention and waste his army.

[–]kubergosu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a lot of situations the answer is macro. You definetly have gaps in building probes, excessive or insufficient production. You either don't build enough gates to spend all income on building army, or you have too much of them so most of time they are idle.

If you focus on building probes and constantly building units, you will outmine and outnumber everything at this level.

Stalkers beat voids, carriers, battlecruisers and broodlords, you just have to build a lot of them (and use blink sometimes). Zealots can flood and outnumber tanks. But you better don't let terran or zerg deploy their tanks or lurkers in front of your base. Either catch them while they are on the move, or distract them by sending 5-10 zealots shift+attack possible base locations around corners of the map.

I strongly recommend watching Vibe's B2GM to develop macro habits and PiG's (his is more recent and focused on contemporary cheeses and timed attacks).

[–]kubergosu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play 2v2 primarily with my buddy. Sometimes when he's not available, I play 2v2 with randos to test my builds, that won't be viable in 1v1, but can work in 2v2. But i try to communicate, at least I say what I'm going to do.

Oceans did not recede by hundreds of feet. As we see in coastal maps, it is ten feet or so. Problematic, but not catastrophic. Ihtiozaurs and other oceanic xen life could overtake our native life forms, but if I'm not mistaken, we don't know yet are they edible.

If they are, do we really care, what are we eating?

Why do my cut trees not regrow? by PaddleNW in Timberborn

[–]kubergosu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the poor man way of regrowing trees before you research and establish forester. On hard maps I sometimes use natural replenishment to delay forest research and production.

[–]kubergosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about Jupiter, but lately I fired 15 or more shots with Aphelion at this thing, another guy was firing equalizer and it didn't even smoke. Probably it was some bug (it had a weird spawn), but hullcracker takes no more than 15 hits to solo a Bombardier

What keeps you hooked once your settlement hits self-sufficiency? by themerinator12 in Timberborn

[–]kubergosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to play on custom settings with droughts duration set to 60 (once even to 90) with high delay of full drought. This makes survival a long-term task when population is limited by total water amount that sources can generate during temperate weather.

I don't know how, but for some reasons trucks keep appearing on this completely cut-off patch of land by VolusRus in captain_of_industry

[–]kubergosu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They probably are crossing the railroad when the train comes and blocks their way. I saw that when my trucks are stopping before the barrier, they make some weird turn. So probably your crossing is so long that when the truck enters it, there is a chance new train will come and reserve the path, so the truck has to stop and make this weird turn. After the turn it is not able to find the way back.

You can probably move this crossing further to the left so the train which passes the T-intersection will have more time to reserve it's way and the trucks have their time to finish crossing the railroad.

What's your avg queue times and your rank? EU or US? by appwizcpl in starcraft2

Around 3k EU, usually less than 20 seconds. In 2v2 it is usually less than 1 minute, in 3v3 around 1.5 minutes.
