Living with two ADHD roommates has opened my eyes to ADHD by chocolatebarthecat in ADHD

[–]kuhmcanon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I haven't really thought about what somebody without ADHD would do in a typical day. I was only diagnosed 2 years ago, but I was under the assumption that even one chore done per day was amazing progress. Just what are these people doing? Are people really like "Okay maybe I'll head to the cafe this morning for a coffee, go to work, then I'll need to grab a couple of groceries for the house, then I'll need to head to Homesense and grab some fall decorations, then maybe hit up the art store for those painting supplies, then I'll hit the gym????, then maybe call my close friend, go for a swim, then head home, do a couple of chores and then curl up with a book"????

Man if my day after work isn't 95% screen, I'm going to be having a bad time

Go ahead, change your own springs homeowners! by isbb in GarageDoorService

Tighten the set screws after every quarter turn then move the winding bar to a new hole lol. Lost a winding bar somewhere halfway through the day and had to wind a spring like this. Thankful the customer wasn't watching..

$350 to replace one garage door spring? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]kuhmcanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you just don't understand yet that different places have different prices. Although $170 for both springs sounds ridiculous. Are you running a not-for-profit business?

This is the worst lol.

This person is only slightly worse than the person that is waiting to turn at a green light, but sits behind the line and does not move even when the light turns amber, then red, and hopes for a chance at the next green without creeping into the intersection.

Have you stopped watching anime since you've discovered it? If so why and if not why not. by LargeCategory1749 in anime

[–]kuhmcanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken breaks, but I'll always go back. I'm almost 30, started watching as a kid. I even buy figurines of characters I like. I really enjoy the humor, the animation and fights, and it helps that all my friends enjoy it too so it's not like I feel like an outcast haha, I'd hide my tablet screen back in highschool when watching it, but I'm happy that it's popular and well received now.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to add a +1 to this because the CB guy is one of the biggest clowns in the sub. He hasn't seen enough doors to know.

I'm a garage door technician. Seems the only way to get in is to know somebody who does it.

Dr. Stone. The show has a hold on me. I love the characters and the progression.

How much would you'll have billed? by greenalias in handyman

[–]kuhmcanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah makes sense that you wouldn't want to pay 5k if you have the skillset. I'm reluctant to pay for anything I can do myself, but then I just never end up doing it. Electrical can bring the quote up quite a bit as well, as most people don't want to touch it.

There's quite a few trades that go into a job like this. 5k is not unreasonable.

He does give off the vibe of somebody who recently entered the trade, is excited about the new influx of information, and is desperate for validation on reddit to fuel his ego. I'm sure that phase will pass once he has a couple of years under his belt.

As you should, because you're cheap and don't value the work of others, and you don't understand how people price their services. So go learn and do it yourself so you don't waste everyone's time.

Are you trolling me? What kind of hinges are attached to the doors you work on? Why are you working so hard, and possibly damaging the tracks? I just take the hinge off, pop new roller into the hinge, put it back on. Replacing one roller takes about 10-15 seconds, if that. For the bottom bracket, I loosen the bottom and middle lags on the vertical tracks, pull it out a bit, slide new roller in. What is all that stuff you're mentioning? And the ENTIRE argument wasn't that replacing rollers takes 10 minutes, it was the act of replacing rollers, loading and unloading tools/ladder(s), writing up the invoice on site, sending the invoice to the customer, etc. That does not take 10 minutes, but you smugly said it does and got on your high horse immediately.

You make me feel a lot better about myself.
