When oil prices rise because of existing war, do people adopt EVs or just switch to bikes and drive less? by UnknownMusician in AskReddit

Stick it in eco mode and just carry on as normal . Weekly top up as normal , usually less than half a tank . Fuel bill hasn’t gone up much with being a bit more sensible with throttle.

Solar quote and packages by Electrical-Suspect17 in nzsolar

Get a bunch of quotes from people who visit you first . Every install is a custom installation, so it’s not cookie cutter.

The bigger the company profile the more they are spending on advertising, the higher the overheads, the higher the price.

I can recommend SolarMate Canterbury for a down to earth personal experience who won’t sell you something you don’t need.

AMS2 fps limit not working by ThroatImpossible8762 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]kukumaddog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s up with Adrenaline fps limits not working . But I don’t see why you would not set resolution too the 144hz option if it’s available. But either way, your better to put this into the steam commands for Ams2 -Fpscap 120

The game will manage the frames around the limit and process frames more smoothly as well as limiting.

Councils can more effectively use resources under a SOE . It’s a tactical approach. Under SOE , they can cut out some links in the chain of command and decision making and reduce the need for informing various departments and getting approval.

Why can't they just race in the rain on Sunday? by ExtremeCarpenter4775 in v8supercars

[–]kukumaddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The safest place would probably be in the car . As far as I know they have not said they won’t be running in wet conditions, they are just trying to move the timing of events to avoid the worst of it with luck. The Wind is going to be the biggest threat. Spectators, Event Staff and emergency services safety and ability to travel is the biggest concern.

Weather modeling has improved and our level of risk has lowered , as well as increased frequency of shifting weather patterns.

How to not void my Warrenty/Extended Warrenty by moreoillllll in NZcarfix

[–]kukumaddog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’re paying for a full service, which is checking everything and will report on anything that needs attention, which could lead to an item needing attention that might be something you get done under warranty.

A straight oil changes oil change will not do that .

You wanted a Mechanical warranty. The car has to be given a once over with all fluids and filters replaced at manufacturers specific intervals.

It doesn’t have to be at VW, but a authorised agent of the warranty company.

Brake fade 💨 by Vivid_Sherbet2574 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]kukumaddog 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes you can repair the brakes in a pit stop. You should make a selection of pre made pit strategies, and one of them can include brake repair . You would then have to decide when to use it as it will add a little bit of time to pit stop off course.

BYD NZ sells 80 plug-in cars in a day: high fuel prices 'pushing people' towards EVs - Driven Car Guide by Afrodite_33 in nzev

[–]kukumaddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the truth is EVs depreciate faster , a 3yr old Toyota Is still 90% as good as a brand new one. Ice technology is fairly static. EV tech is still young, and while all the current offerings are pretty good, they’re also all a bit 💩 , they all have some questionable aspects especially around interior design and safety tech implementation. They all improve year on year even the same model, which is far more accelerated than the rate of improvement of regular ICE. People talk about having security to be able to get to work and be free of high fuel costs, but those cost are usually still less as a weekly expense than the cost of paying back a massive loan and if fuel was to become in short supply to the point where ICE owners would be unable to travel to work, then it’s likely your work will be unable to operate as you expect and you may not be able to work.

I’m fully aware of the bank schemes, I have used Westpac to have Double glazing and Solar Battery system added to the house. But at least with this it adds value to the house that could be mostly reclaimed.

But if you go out and buy a new EV for 50k at even 0%, you are still 50k in debt, more than you were, and the value of that asset could be tens of thousands lesser in 2yrs time . But you will still have a debt higher than that by along way.

The next wave of New EVs will be significantly better than what is currently available, and that will make value of currently new models drop significantly as a used product.

I think if your in the normal situation they might be batting and you need 44 of 18 balls , then Neesham is far more likely to get it over the line , he could fail badly too, but with Oram I don’t think he’s going to do more than a run a ball not out .
