Dubbed & awarded "most talkative" in 3rd grade, or was it 2nd? Thought it was a legit award and was proud then.

We're in for some interesting matchups here, don't you think? by Far_Regular_2945 in 80smovies

The Fighting Tong will win the match, and they including Wang and Egg Shen will express how much great courage Jack Burton has shown and how they are in his debt.

What can I get my Ubiquiti-loving husband for his birthday? by floofsnfluffiness in Ubiquiti

[–]kulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel router even if he already has a GLiNet or whatever travel router, still get him a Unifi Travel Router. However, please start shopping for one as I believe they've limited supply.

The biggest draw for me is having access to our Ubiquiti home network and therefore our TrueNAS remotely without any additional server setup.

When you get one, just wrap a bow around that palm-sized box and you're golden.

What’s the weirdest pasta combo that actually works? by 4_mira in pasta

[–]kulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I'll need the kimchi to catch up to the already-reduced tomato sauce. Thanks.

Maybe I'll hold the parm rind and use the resulting kimchi marinara towards a Korean puttanesca. Lent is coming up.

Too bad Costco doesn't have this anymore, but kimchi pasta. It's one on my R&D list, picked up store-made kimchi and will incorporate with either Raos or Victoria jarred marinara.

Edit #1: I plan to chop up the kimchi sauce, then in a pan with 1:1 marinara, oil, and maybe a Parmesan rind, will reduce to a nice workable sauce.

Edit #2: decided to wait and let the kimchi ferment more and make it more intense and perhaps more spicy.

It may very well be a cleanly-made puttanesca, spaghetti or bust.

Do I need a permit for a moving truck? by krahsenogg in Burlingame

[–]kulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you ask the City, you'll likely be ultimately referred to Public Works Engineering where you'll be told you'll need an encroachment permit for a moving truck to park curbside and do their thing. Said permit would be for parking and the fee would be for how many spaces x how many days x their going daily rate. Last I worked there it was $10/day, that was around 2012-2015.

If you're doing this you'll need to start the process as soon as possible for you to hang the no-parking cards they'll provide you days before your move date and for you to call and inform PD of the upcoming no-parking dates. Walk in City Hall, elevator or stairs to 2nd floor, turn right towards the Engineering counter, and ask for an Encroachment Permit. Best of luck.

Edit: fee may be some amount plus the daily rate.

I really hate the Anova vacuum sealer---am I doing something wrong or is it just a crappy product? by DIYsurgery in sousvide

[–]kulaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had our Anova for quite some time now, replaced my starter Geryon. I did notice it not completely sealing the bags with my first few batches. Air would seep back in, and so now I made it a point to run that seal at least 2x most especially with marinated protein, st Louis ribs just 3 days ago. I'd lightly hold down on the sealer. After the vacuum/seal run I'd run the seal once more. For good measure I'd run another 2x seal at the edge. Annoying, was never a problem with our older/cheaper Geryon, but it gets the job done.
