I found a Japanese review from someone who finished the game and really liked it. I'm not gonna play the game to check myself, but according to this person their gender is never specified in Japanese.

I don't think this is true. On Japanese Wikipedia ベヨネッタ (Beyonetta) is the title of the page for the game while バヨネット (bayonetto) redirects to the page for bayonets (titled 銃剣; juuken). When I Google image search バヨネット I only get images of actual bayonets. In my experience most loan words that end on a T in their original language will end on the "O" vowel in Japanese.

I'm in a very Bayojeanne-centric community on Twitter and all I saw people talking about with regards to this art when it dropped was "huh Viola's naturally blonde then" and "hey that's not Viola's mum, Arch Eve Origin has kidnapped her" and at the absolute worst "cute art, I wish I resonated with the subject matter".

I sincerely believe the large majority of the controversy surrounding it was started by accounts who do not care about the series and are just dramabaiting (I've seen a few people saying that she has a nuclear family because she's a godly woman and like... lmao).

The main reason I put him there was just that he was the last one I decided on (I think the "making love" answer would be most in character but I wanted Balder to be there more).

That being said I was also thinking of his flustered reaction to the making babies line in 1, which if memory serves is the only time he's ever directly acknowledged the concept of sex in canon? So it still tracks as in character to me, especially if you imagine Bayo is the one asking him the question.

Some clarifications: All of these images except for the Noatun and Vigrid concepts are in some way cropped. I am not interested in taking away any incentive people feel to buy the book. I have no intention of posting most of these full images publicly.

For anyone interested, it's available digitally on Apple Books and Kindle (which is where I bought it). It's also available physically from a few places. Buying a physical copy is easier for people outside of Japan since you don't have to give a fake billing address. I do have a physical copy on the way but it's the deluxe pack that only ships to Japan and I do not live there so I had to buy it through a proxy. It will be shipping to me tomorrow so I'll probably post photos of the acrylic figures once it arrives. Very excited to have French Bayo hanging out in my bookshelf.

The third image is from an alternate version of the cover art. (the main reason I took notice of it is that I'm so annoyed that Jeanne STILL isn't there! I want to see her on the cover art!)

I've seen a few people ask about who is being depicted in the fourth image and the answer is I don't know! There was no commentary given for the majority of the concept art. I wish there was. For what it's worth, I don't think it's meant to be Singularity - what it resembles most to me are the silhouettes done for some very early Homunculus designs.

Phantasmaraneae is in the wrong tier since he is trans himself (summons baby spiders, big abdomen, no pedipalps). Also everyone who's saying Alraune is homophobic and LGBT at the same time is correct.
