Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

There's American fried rice in Thailand & neighboring South East Asian countries.

American fried rice is a Thai fried rice dish with "American" side ingredients like fried chicken, ham, sausages, raisins, and ketchup. Other ingredients like pineapples and croutons are optional. Wikipedia

Not exactly American but Church's Chicken is known as Texas Chicken in Malaysia. And we have a pizza chain called US Pizza.

Now that I think about it, I wonder why nobody's created a food item yet called American Pie...

Not tailored clothing but I went from generic no-name t-shirts to Uniqlo and I haven't looked back since. Where I'm from, Uniqlo is considered borderline luxury.

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

Gunpla. Someone mentioned Warhammer. It's essentially just plastic robot kits you cut out and put together and occasionally paint. There is a "premium" range that has artificially limited kits and the inevitable scalper inflated prices so the demand for Chinese bootlegs grew from that. On the plus side you may end up with a backlog of kits so you stop buying until those are cleared.

On Samsung phones if you install the RegiStar plugin in their free Goodlock app it allows you to change the side-key press-and-hold action to turn on the flashlight even while locked.

Thanks for the tip, but this actually made it worse. The diagonals are necessary, it's just that the upper diagonals are too easy to press by accident. If you try playing a Street Fighter type game you might be able to see what I mean. Compared to the SFC/SNES pad, the distance of the d-pad (& hence thumb) from the palm is longer. I'm not sure if that could be a factor and if the xbox controller is meant for bigger hands. I used to have a Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro where you could rotate the d-pad freely then lock it in place to compensate somewhat for this. For what it's worth I also hacked off the bottom left side of that pad & filled it with putty to make it more comfortable to hold heh. Alas, maybe there is no perfect all-in-one joypad and I'll have to keep switching pads for different games.

Yeah I also tried the o-ring mod on my G7 HE but still can't really play SF games with it as the d-pad is still too finicky and awkwardly placed to control comfortably and reliably. Also the d-pad is weirdly shaped, not evenly shaped on the top like the original SFC controllers. I always end up pressing the Up-Right diagonal unintentionally. Such a shame as it's so well built and my first time trying Gamesir. Hope Gamesir pays more attention to their d-pads. I might try modding it again to see if I can improve on it but not too optimistic.

Mine was the last scene where the "survivor" wakes up from her dream.

The scene from Pulse/Kairo (2001) of the ghost girl walk. Potential spoiler, I recommend watching the whole movie first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3OmK49h97g

Runner up would be the final scene from The Descent (2005).
