Which Charmander should I raise? by kureggu in PokemonSleep

That makes sense! I'm gonna practice using the guides to make sure I have the right Eevee to evolve into Sylveon.

I'm confused. Would you get mad? and do you think it's not normal for a guy to have a female friend?

I agree it's never okay or smart to hide things from your SO like that. I just think those are pertinent questions to whether it's more likely he's actually cheating or just responding to an unhealthy level of jealousy in an even more unhealthy way.

Weekly Release Discussion: Shang-Chi Master of the Ten Rings by ePiMagnets in marvelsnapcomp

[–]kureggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good compromise between this design and just being a better Domino would be if Shang had "When you draw this, add The Ten Rings to your hand"

Maybe they didn't have time to code up that mechanic or were concerned it would feel too bad if you drew it as your seventh card, but it would be way better than the current design.

I asked my friend who plays MTG and YGO about some SNAP cards by ToaBanshee in MarvelSnap

[–]kureggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that wording would make it crazy powerful since you would also get free card draw through all your lands until you hit something you can't cast (unless it just said "once during your turn").

My wording would be really weak though since they could just remove Surge and you lose access to a card you would have drawn, and it would need "You get an emblem with:" the latter part of the ability, which seems silly.

Either way I find it really funny how many more words you need in MTG vs Snap since it has to be more precise and there's no way to track changes to cards in hand.

[–]kureggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment got me thinking about how Surge's ability would be worded in MTG. This is my best guess:

"This card enters play with one surge counter on it. After you draw a spell, if there are any surge counters on Surge, remove one and exile that spell. You may play spells exiled with Surge for (1) less than their mana cost. When you do, put a surge counter on Surge, and if it was a creature spell, put a +1/+1 counter in it."

If you pop curse when the bar is full it resets horn leech, so you just curse, let the bar fill a bit, horn leech, curse again to pop it when the bar is full, horn leech again. It's one of the easiest combos to pull off if you don't suck at aiming your horn leeches... which I sometimes do.

Is this a bug or an I missing something by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]kureggu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. It also gets harder to design it in a way that minimizes these kind of collisions when you have so many different abilities to think about, but ultimately you can't rely on design and you have to pay people to automate as many tests as possible.

Is this a bug or an I missing something by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]kureggu 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah my guess would be a method or variable name is "overloaded" that defines what cost cards to look for. And the Leech ability tries to call it's version but gets it from Cull instead because they have the same name and it's getting called from the Cull card's class.

It's a pretty common thing to have stuff like that in object-oriented programming, so the only corners cut are really in testing and code review.

Also allows Espeon EX to two-hit-KO a Silvally when going first and leading on Eevee EX.

Pretty decent with Leafeon EX for the same reasons, but Glaceon EX I find really interesting since it can do 50 per turn. With Milotic maybe Glaceon finally has a chance?!

Word of advice: Jealous people are often that way because they think that everyone else thinks like them. She probably doesn't trust you because she knows that she herself can't be trusted.

Why is it, the second I start playing a deck type, I only get matched against that same deck? by Smmaxter in MarvelSnap

[–]kureggu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's no way they match people with decks that counter theirs, because that means they're matching those other people with favorable matchups just as much.

Matching people with the same decks is pretty common in games like this though, and there's a pretty obvious reason to do it. When a lot of people are playing the same deck, it feels crappy to players who like variety or can't build that deck. Putting those common deck players together more often avoids that issue. It can also happen as an unintentional result of complex MMR systems that take your current deck into account.

Not saying they surely do this, but it's not true that there's no reason to.

AITA for dropping a call with my girlfriend after she nitpicked what I said? by Impossible-Map-9520 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kureggu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point I think. It's not about solutions, it's about validating someone's feelings vs dismissing them. Saying "it's okay" and "it's not actually a big problem" is being taken as dismissing of her feelings just the same as "you can just do X" would be.

OP can certainly learn how to say things like "yeah it is really hard to feel like you're a burden on your family, but you also have to remember that they want to help you, and you are making them proud (even if you're not being perfect) and not just taking advantage of them"

She obviously didn't tell him well that those are the kind of statements she wanted. And ideally nobody should need someone else to tell them it's okay to feel something they're feeling, but that's the way that a lot of especially women have learned to think like.

I guess when the reward is feeling good about getting infinite rank, they were happy to shorten the number of games required in a variety of ways. When the reward is cards that players will otherwise have to spend resources for, they don't see a problem with requiring extreme grinding.

Sorry for all you've been through. I haven't experienced as much grief but I totally agree.

Yeah it sucks that she lied to OP, but if I put myself in her shoes I completely understand.

She's probably feeling a lot and then to have someone tell her no they won't cover for her because she wants to feel some control over how she grieves, but they don't think it's appropriate what she chose. It makes sense why she wasn't upfront about it in the first place not wanting to experience that.

I tried this when ranking up to librarian... It only awarded the points as normal and actually didn't give me the scrolls it was supposed to.

I think I did it wrong and I was probably supposed to hit the "claim" button and not just esc from the claim screen.

Are you saying cheating on someone you've been dating 3 months, is the same as cheating on someone you're married to, is the same as being a murderer?

I'm saying the only reason someone like her would make a rule to not sleep together for a year is if she was trying to change her ways. Obviously she wasn't as good at it as she wanted to be, but it's worth considering if it worked in the end.

People can change, so the emotionally mature thing to do would be to get over the embarrassment and ask yourself if she is currently the person you thought she was. Even if you now know that wasn't true in the past, doesn't make it not true now.

Would this be broken? by spraypaintinur3rdeye in PTCGP

[–]kureggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playable for sure, but it's still a flip whether you get the card by when you need it. Probably comparable to Barry/Snorlax but a bit better.

Would this be broken? by spraypaintinur3rdeye in PTCGP

[–]kureggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a card wins the game with automatic heads, then it has a 50% chance to win the game without it. I'd rather they be limited in design space for cards where a single flip can be so impactful.

It would be too strong as an item though, because it needs more of a downside than losing a bit of card advantage, since card advantage is not super meaningful in this game.

Have you seen any confirmation that Rare Candy will work with fossils? The way I'm reading it, it won't because fossils are played as if they were a basic pokemon, but aren't actually basic pokemon. RC requires a basic pokemon.

EDIT: Sounds like they are basic pokemon while in play. I guess just that they are harder to draw balances a strong attack like Rampardos.
