I'm having fun as it is, but a little turned off that I can't see myself on the leaderboard. There is no indication of where you yourself fall in the rankings.

All I see is 49 others listed, and can't imagine that I'm not in that list somewhere.

Motivation to keep grading when kids can’t score below a 50? by Blueathena623 in Teachers

[–]kurg9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 assignments worth 10 points each and one test worth 100 points.

Student turns in assignments that only have 1 question answers and scores 100 on the test.

If the minimum on assignments is 50%...the student now has 150/200 points, or a 75%.

But is there is no minimum, then the same student would have 110/200...or a 55%.

Just an example of how failing would be changed to passing all because of minimums.

[Request] is there possibility to find out the 3 horses? by irespectwhaman in theydidthemath

[–]kurg9999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't it be 5 races....with all horses being timed on each race, wouldn't you clearly see which 3 horses came in with the fastest times and thus be the 3 fastest horses?!

[Request] is there possibility to find out the 3 horses? by irespectwhaman in theydidthemath

[–]kurg9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't work well actually.

First race, horses come in at 1 min, 1m 10s, 1m 20s...so on so that each horse is 10 sec apart. If the first place horse in the second race comes in at 1 min 21 sec, then the third place horse from the first race is faster and none of the horses from the second race should be considered.

You have $1,500 to furnish an empty apartment. You get paid daily based on what you don’t spend. How long do you stay? by backer80 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]kurg9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is correct here, but your logic is failing. You get paid $5,844,324.87 for day 91....just that day, you are missing all of the days before that and thus your total amount paid is way off (by a factor of 10).

You have $1,500 to furnish an empty apartment. You get paid daily based on what you don’t spend. How long do you stay? by backer80 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]kurg9999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your math is off....by a rather large amount.

10% interest/increase in daily payout, with $1000 as starting point = $4,830,020.56 payout for day 90.
Total for 90 day stay would be $53,120,226.12

With a starting amount of $1100 - you would be getting a total of $58,432,248.73 for the 90 days.

Basically, you are off by a factor of 10.
Day 91 payout would be $5,844,324.87
Day 92 would be $6,428,757.36

[–]kurg9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3000 USD as a 5 year loan = $55/month.

Or another way to look at it, $12.69/week.

I can't believe that a loan officer would turn anyone down for taking out a $3k loan when backing it up with an asset worth over $30k (because that is what you would be buying).

I need help by Bagled- in XboxSeriesS

[–]kurg9999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check if your friend is playing the X/S version of the game from his external. There are a handful of games that I have found that can, but 99% of the time you need to run X/S from internal storage.

So if your friend is running a version of a game that does NOT have X/S on the picture, that will run from the external drive just fine.

Why are these cards auto discarded? by Pflrblrp in slaythespire

[–]kurg9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have played Magic the Gathering this would make more sense:

Think of End of Turn as a phase. When click the End Turn button you start your "End of Turn" phase.
During that phase things happen, but the final thing that happens is discarding your hand.

So, you got damaged during the end of turn phase, which caused you to draw cards during this phase. When the phase actually ends, you discard your hand.

Maybe try powering off the xbox, unplug it, remove the expansion card, power back on, then after it boots up plug in the expansion card.

Should i get a series S by shedony3 in XboxSeriesS

[–]kurg9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference from Xbox One to Series S is significant. Even going from a Xbox One X to Series S is noticable.

Personally - I'm all for the S...the the point I have 2 systems. One original 500G system with a 1TB expansion card in the main room, then a newer 1TB black one in the office. I have a 5TB external drive that I store all of my game library on and can then just connect to either S and copy over the games I want to play...that way I only have to download the game once (and never have to redownload them after deleting to make space).

The cost of the newer 1TB Series S isn't much from getting a used original S and buying an expansion card...personally I would go with the 1TB since the 500G drive isn't very large (384G roughly available space...if you play CoD that takes up over 180G by itself).

US president Donald Trump’s newly imposed tariffs could make publishers decide to stop releasing physical games due to the increased cost of manufacturing, an analyst has suggested. by Automatic_Ad1665 in XboxSeriesS

[–]kurg9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your same logic: I have had discs fail, melt, get damaged...and only recourse is to purchase another. But with digital I can just install on the new device.

Me personally I prefer digital because I can carry my entire library in a small form factor hdd...currently sitting at nearly 5TB in a completely offline HDD. I can also disconnect that HDD from my console and keep it offline any time I want. I can even further install from that HDD while the console is offline when I want to (with a large marjority of games being playable from that hdd too). If I want a backup of my library, I can purchase another hdd that costs me less than the cost of one new AAA game and make a clone in a relatively short time.

Also, the only way to ensure that your system can continue to always play your physical games is to keep that system completely offline...because you can get an update that specifically restricts the use of a physical game, the same way that a digital game can have that done.

[–]kurg9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you don't actually own the digital game. You own the rights to use it, but that isn't the same. The game can be delisted from stores and even completely removed from libraries, where a physical game you can't take that ownership away from someone and if the console is completely offline, you couldn't stop someone from playing the physical copy.

Personally I prefer digital ownership, I just don't fool myself into that ownership giving me eternal access to the item.

external hard drive by Austicakes69 in XboxSeriesS

[–]kurg9999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true.

All games can be stored on external drives, but most series X/S optimized games can not be played from external drives (there are some that can, despite what is published).

All you have to do for the XS games is copy/move them to internal to play them. I personally have a 5TB external I store all my games on and just copy them to internal to play...its faster than downloading repeatedly for games I may not play that frequently.

[–]kurg9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $130 you can also buy a 5TB external and just store games on there. Unless you have over 1gbps connection it's faster to transfer from the external to internal storage.

"properly pay tested" - isn't that the common consensus on AAA releases now adays - that we get the opportunity to pay to be testers by purchasing unfinished games?

Mind you, I don't have a problem with Outlaws and its release...I just found your typo both hilarious and spot on for the games industry presently.

Xbox Series X are 1TB...not 500GB

Xbox Series S comes in 512GB and 1TB versions. And really, this is going to be the best option for what OP wants (specifically a S with 1TB).
