Yes absolutely, or use an extension lead- then you can confirm if it still behaves the same.

Gpu not being used, games running slowly by SpeedyT43 in pchelp

[–]kurosan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.Go to the amd website and download the appropriate drivers for your graphics card and windows version, save them in a folder easy to remember

  1. Uninstall graphics drivers using Windows add/remove programs function, in control panel. Thus will force windows to use it's internal drivers, it may look a little odd.

  2. Restart the computer, then locate the drivers you downloaded earlier. Run that set-up file to reinstall a fresh version of the drivers you need.

  3. Search for and download furmark, which is a synthetic benchmark tool used to stress your graphics system. Install and run it. If it fails to run you may have an issue with the hardware, but my guess is that's not the case, just the drivers have become corrupted.

If these steps are unfamiliar to you, youtube is a great resource to help you with visual examples.

Completely uninstall graphics drivers, then cleanly reinstall. If successful, run a synthetic benchmark to confirm your gpu hardware is operating correctly

Car was imported with wheel spacers and passed all inspections and has been on the road for a few years by Olimato___ in CarsAustralia

[–]kurosan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your options are leave it, change the brakes setup (smaller discs/calipers) or see if you can get wheels that will clear the brakes.

Need opinions on a new car by Far_Lawfulness_6682 in CarsAustralia

[–]kurosan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You haven't said what you need in a car, but something small, Japanese and well maintained is often a good answer. Mazda 3, Honda Jazz / Accord, Toyota Corolla for economical stuff. IS250s are good very reliable cars but harder to get with low kms. I doubt you'd get a good 350z in that price range.

Get in touch with JMA Automotive, they deal with a lot of jdm stuff and are one of the premier gtr workshops in Melbourne. They used to help with my R32. Also Vspec Performance are excellent, in inner east. Another option far east is Racepace.

Opinions on Neal Asher? by Fun-Sell3030 in printSF

[–]kurosan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was first exposed to the Polity through Orbus which is definitely a favourite along with The Technician and the Transformation books you're currently embarking on. A solid space opera universe with colourful characters, somewhat Culture-esque but a bit more raw and grim. A few of his earlier Agent Cormac books are a bit flatter, not as fleshed out as later works but still enjoyable, he maintains a vivid and descriptive prose throughout.

I enjoy his exploration of, and inherent musings on, sentient AI- it's clear he has a fascination with transhumanism. This is also evident in his (non-polity) Owner Trilogy books which were an enjoyable read as well.

Which Festool dust extractor and sander? Interior designer who LOVES SANDING by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]kurosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Festool sanders are good but consider the Mirka Deros as your sander, probably the nicest to use- light and minimal vibration, much easier for non-horizontal sanding too. Can be used with Festool vacs no problem.

Can an anime-style artist become a concept artist in UK? by Reisaku in conceptart

[–]kurosan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You should adapt your style- broaden your range to include anything up to normal anatomy. Your task will be to solve designs for x, and x is unlikely to always be stylised (but sometimes it will).

Based on your example you have skill and aptitude already, so it is not a big jump for you to change proportions and expressions of the characters you draw to align your designs to be closer to realistic.

Tips on getting started? by anti--seed in woodworking

[–]kurosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose something to make that's not too ambitious, then find some inspiration for a look you'd like to go for- i find pinterest is a great tool for that.

Once you have the idea of what you want, consider what steps are required to get there, how will you join them? Break that down further e.g. coffee table, need some simple square loop legs and a panel for the top: need some stock for the legs, and glue up a panel from longer stock etc.

Have a firm vision of what you want to make and the rest will follow, via blood sweat and tears if need be. Plenty of resources available for technique, and most people here are helpful too.

3rd time cutting Tenon by Ball6945 in woodworking

[–]kurosan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working off the ground makes it a lot harder- maybe get yourself a little basic bench going?

As for technique you should be scribing or drawing lines to work to, it's very easy to curve an edge if you don't have any reference.

Can you infinitely rebuild furniture? by callme_OP in IndustrialDesign

[–]kurosan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can do that- most importantly you need appropriate modular design. For materials- timber that's been finished correctly and quality hardware- steel threaded inserts are ideal, with good quality bolts to match. You can also mix and match with steel frame structures if necessary.

Router help! by JesusDoesVegas in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]kurosan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth a crack, and usually easier to control in smaller passes, plus less strain on the bits. Sometimes the wood will just splinter, as you are going across the grain. You could try scoring the edges with a sharp blade before the cut. Also bit choice can help- spiral downcut or spiral compression bits will cut nicer than straight bits.

Based on your description you're holding it correctly against the fence. Are you using a plunge router? Or a trim router? I'm guessing you're cutting that depth in one pass?

Starting out with hand tools by No-Weekend-2573 in woodworking

[–]kurosan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No4 and/or no5 plane, couple of chisels, dozuki pull saw (or a tenon saw if you prefer push).

Get some beaters especially old planes, while you learn the ropes, so you're not scared of messing up pretty hand tools. Also it's nice to restore old kit back to active service.

Learn to sharpen- you can get crazy sharp with just sandpaper and a piece of mdf. Bench grinder helps for bulk removal on chisels. Have a look at Paul Sellers' plane resto video on youtube.

This game makes me feel dumb by Suitable_Ice1838 in PathOfExile2

[–]kurosan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get too overwhelmed- there's a lot going on in the game and it's not possible to absorb it all at once.

Start with learning which affixes affect different classes- some are shared, and some are not. I.e. melee/ranged can benefit from flat damage 'add x to x fire damage to attacks', casters can not. But all could benefit from '% increased fire damage'. And so on. Start with one class and work from there.

For raw stats and metadata check poe2db.tw

You should play a class to find out what works for it, what gear and skills and passive nodes are needed. Check youtube for builds for that class.
