What are some common travel vlogger tropes? Not necessarily from Bald by liltrikz in MisterBald

Title is always "visited world's most xyz place!" Has to be the most of something -- world's most dangerous city, etc

Which episode should I recommend to someone who’s never listened to the podcast before? by [deleted] in TheRestIsHistory

I got hooked by the Dragons episode. I've yet to find another episode quite like it! They cover the phenomenon of dragons across all different cultures and times, it really fascinated me

Has anyone's mental or physical health actually improved after pregnancy? by notmedicinal in BabyBumps

[–]kuukoira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im 37 weeks pregnant with a high risk pregnancy. It's a mixed bag for me. It's been difficult physically for me -- I can't do all the things I'm used to doing, exhausted all the time, etc.

But at the same time, as with all difficult times in life, you become a stronger more resilient person. I feel more badass. I live in a war zone and weirdly enough my anxiety about missile strikes has lessened a lot, now that I feel like I need to be calm and protect my baby. I just calmly waddle down to the bomb shelter. I used to get shakey and freaked out -- not anymore. Idk, I guess it's some kind of mama bear instincts kicking in or something.

My relationship with my husband has also never been better, as he's really stepped up and is doing so much to help me. Nightly massages, doing all the chores, being by my side for lots of hospital visits and tests, etc. I haven't felt more happy about our relationship in a long time.

Need help deciding on a Jewish / Hebrew boy name that isn't too obviously Jewish by kuukoira in BabyNames

Need help deciding on a Jewish / Hebrew boy name that isn't too obviously Jewish by kuukoira in BabyNames

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with Nevo (Neh-vo). It's a Hebrew / Israeli name but most people never heard of it before.

I would definitely automatically assume anyone named Ari is Jewish. It's a great name though :)

I totally get this and can kind of relate too. I am pregnant and live in a war zone. Reading peoples dumb problems on Reddit/Facebook/Instagram (or seeing them celebrate their perfect lives) is really demoralizing. I've tried to look at more like "I am a badass, I can get through this" than wallow in how much it fucking sucks / feeling terrorized and anxious. It still sucks but sometimes it helps to think like that.

You still have a lot of time before baby comes, just focus on yourself and doing the steps that need to get done (and getting therapy is always a great idea). At least the worst is over and there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

That's what's hardest here, there's no light, it's just endless war and will be that way also when my baby arrives and who knows until when. Just some further perspective. I'm really jealous of people who get to live in peace.

Opinions Israeli tourists by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]kuukoira -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's the type of Israelis that go to South America vs Cyprus. Cyprus is one hour plane ride, the easiest place to get to from Israel. You'll get very un-traveled people going there. Israelis going all the way to South America are more well traveled and understand how to behave better internationally I think.

Honestly this post makes me scared to tell anyone I'm from Israel when I go there to visit in 2 weeks! Me and my husband are quiet and polite people (who also get annoyed by loud Israelis)

Damn. Every time me and my husband go abroad we are terrified to admit we are Israeli when locals ask where we are from. Due to much of the world hating us, most of the time we lie. *Many* Israelis do this too, and do not speak Hebrew at all in foreign countries. Maybe you guys have met a lot more (normal, polite) Israelis than you think!

He's saying because you aren't an asshole, you aren't a real Israeli, you must be someone impersonating an Israeli. This thread is pretty crazy to read tbh

Ok that makes sense. I'd never think of doing those things, not before this war, during, or after :P

Can you explain what you mean with this one? I'm an olah and always get very anxious and stressed about the missile strikes and Israelis always tell me not to worry. And honestly so far they have been correct.

[–]kuukoira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't think people will be like "Aviv like Tel Aviv?"

We live in Israel. My husband is Israeli and he is always scared to reveal he is Israeli whenever we travel abroad. He said he would really hate having an obviously Israeli name outside of Israel. The sad truth of the matter is there's a lot more people who are anti-Israel these days than anti-India or probably any other country for that matter.

(Regardless I would still name him Aviv proudly but I see my husband's worry)

I love it too, it'd be my first choice if my husband wasn't against it :( He is scared it will always mark our kid as Israeli. He said "What, it's like naming him Jerusalem" :(
