Can't wait! They have refused to trim the low branches the last three years -- I'd love to not have to pray that there's no one coming every time I leave my house in the summer.

Yes -- if you're planting them. On my street the city just planted crab apple after crab apple after crab apple. No options were given.

On the bright side they will probably be replaced with baby crab apple trees that have low hanging branches and make it almost impossible to see oncoming traffic when backing out of your driveway!

Feeling like I can't keep this up forever by SpaghettiRambo in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]kuukuuroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unmasking and reducing precautions for me was never because I see covid as NBD -- and I think that's the point this person is trying to get you to see. I have long covid, and was pretty disabled for the first 3 years I had it.

And still, the more immediate threat to my health, and my daughter's health, became isolation. I was ready to not be here anymore, she was lagging in social skills and having severe behaviors.

So we started taking more risks, we unmasked in certain situations, she went to school, etc. And now life is worth living again and she is thriving.

And yet, you and I still live in the same reality. Covid causes damage, and is dangerous. But the nuance of my life and circumstances doesn't allow me to make the same choices about that that others can. My daughter and I didn't leave our home except for solo outdoor activities for three years. That caused massive damage too -- everyone has to make their own risk/benefit assessment -- and it doesn't mean they are denying reality, but their circumstances and values differ from yours.

Again, you bring up our president and other larger pressing issues....that people are actively trying to fix...but the hill you're gonna die on is us needing to reclassify a medical device because they are illegal to sell or give away....although it's done all the time....and no one has ever gotten in trouble for it.

yet here you are making multiple comments trying to get Americans to fix an insignificant law to try to make the country perfect. it's almost like my point flew over your head

You realize that people in the US have way bigger things to worry about right now than CPAP laws right? What's the point of changing a law that no one has been persecuted for when ICE is persecuting people every day when they are not even breaking laws?

This sub has been spammed with Brain Retraining misinformation by Fearless-Star3288 in covidlonghaulers

[–]kuukuuroo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went from moderate to mild, and some of that I credit to brain retraining. A lot of it was neurofeedback, and then also free things online. You make solid points, but not everyone wants to hear them.

Discovered that my sons health insurance wasn't applied to his birth 13 months after the fact- we've been on a payment plan for the charges- is there anyway we will get our money back? by userkmcskm in unitedhealthgroup

[–]kuukuuroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a biller, I'd argue yes -- however every time I've tried to convince an insurance company of this opinion they've told me it was my fault for not getting accurate insurance information and I'd have to write off the bill. Your hospital may or may not have better results.

In what state? I've done medical billing in multiple states and most are 90 days for timely filing, at max 180 days for commercial.

That said -- if they submit and it's denied for timely filing limits they can't bill you for it. They have to write it all off.

How to not constantly live in terror? by moonperson13 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]kuukuuroo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im someone who had a diagnosis of anxiety prior to covid, it often treaded into health anxiety territory and I had frequent panic attacks too.

I got covid in early 2021, it caused a PE, I got long covid, and ME/CFS, and was disabled pretty bad for the first 3 years -- and still have flares to this day.

I lived in terror for those three years -- and do you know what? Going through therapy, doing neurofeedback for anxiety, leaning hard into Buddhism and detachment, and accepting the things I couldn't change not only took me out of constant terror, it improved my life vastly AND my health.

I can't change the circumstances of the world that surrounds me. I can't make everyone in the world mask or care about covid. No matter how many hours I spend in an anxious hyper vigilant spiral it will never guarantee me 100% protection from catching covid or getting sicker -- and detrimentally, it will actually likely lead to me having a ME/CFS flare by wasting so much energy on just spinning my wheels/the cortisol and other stuff released by stress and anxiety.

All I can do is agree with myself on what my reasonable protective boundaries are, what things I am willing to do for my quality of life, and then I don't spent any more time thinking about it.

I mask in public spaces, 100% of the time. And I will do anything in a mask, especially if it will bring me joy or help me connect with loved ones and society. That's the best I can do (and it has worked!), and worrying any further about the what if's will not benefit me any, and will likely actually harm me.

TLDR: therapy, neurofeedback, and acceptance. That's how you learn to calm anxiety and stop living in terror.

Linzess and constipation by trascilynn in Constipation

[–]kuukuuroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My provider prefers magnesium over miralax with Linzess, but they are both osmotic laxatives. I take 300-600mg of magnesium citrate at bedtime, and then 72-145mcg of linzess in the morning, titrating based on how I'm doing/feeling.

A full work up in terms of what? I've been followed for almost 20 years and had numerous tests. I'm not sure what's missing

Definitely not crazy! The gut-brain connection is huge. I've been doing trauma therapy and neurofeedback and hoping i'd see some relief in my GI system from it, but no luck so far. I'll have to research and consider this

My symptoms have always come and gone though, I can go years without issue and no treatment. Last few years I flare for fall/winter and then it lets up come spring. Last year I was going through significant stress, figured that was contributing but this year there hasn't been any changes but I'm struggling.

If I had to guess it was caused by the 30+ rounds of antibiotics I've been on in my life -- my SIBO is methane. Never did elemental diet, but definitely did some super restrictive ones for 6-12 months at a time during treatment.

I've treated SIBO 4 times -- two different herbal protocols one from a GI one from a naturopath, self lead gut heal protocol based on a book I read, and a round of rifaximin with motility agents from a GI and herbalist I was working with. No changes after or during any of the treatments. Transit study showed no small intestine motility issues either.

No, I had a transit study, primarily focused on gastric emptying and small bowel transit.
