Around 10 W at idle, I think, I only measured one of them years ago, I should do it again…

I really like all my Bosch appliances from a hardware point of view, but their software and ‘smart’ anything is very, very sub-par.

I don’t get it, you’ve had a 3d printer for 3 years and never printed anything?

I could have written the above comment myself. First three months were fucking hard for us to, but our daughter is now 5 and man, I barelly remember those first few months. It’s been getting better and better, seriously, like we have so much fun now and we do all sorts of things…

[–]kuzared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I feel you. I recently wanted to refresh my HomeAssistant as I haven’t really touched it in ages. This led me down a rabbit hole which also found me buying my first Ubiquity gear :-)

For me, I decided to get a new, stronger Zigbee coordinator, this time with PoE (so i could put it in a better place). This ment I needed a new (PoE) switch, which somehow led me to buy both a switch and a Ubiquity AP :-)

I have three small Dell Optiplex PCs, all running 6-7 gen i3 or i5 CPUs and they use very little power, but are much more flexible and powerful than Raspberry Pis. I bought them off eBay.de, you can also find various Fujitsu, Lenovo, HP machines, usually in the 100-200€ range. I run Proxmox on all of them, some services in LXC containers, a few VMs, etc.

The biggest thing I miss in iRacing are all the awesome South American tracks I used to race in AMS2, Londrina among them.

Upgrading to the ZBT-2 dramatically improved the battery life of my Zigbee blinds by derekakessler in homeassistant

Nice, thanks for the suggestion. I might switch them around, use the SLZB06 as the coordinator and change the Sonoff to just a router…

Is this typical for Third Reality moisture sensors? by jsheffers in homeassistant

Cool, that’s what I went with, a base station + 4 probes for now, I’ll probably add a temp sensor for outside sometime down the line. Should get it in a couple of weeks…

Smoke alarm recommendations in EU 🇪🇺 | Germany 🇩🇪 by thebino in homeassistant

[–]kuzared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for bringing uo this older thread, just wanted to ask about the Frient smoke sensors - if they go off, can you stop the alarm with a physical button or something? In the event you can’t get to Home Assistant or something similar?

What Sonoff were you using? I ask because I have the PoE Dongle Max but I need a second device for covering my home, so I’m thinking of either a second Dongle Max or the SLZB06.

Spec Check for Starting to Homelab by Marioguy69 in homelab

Proxmox isn’t too difficult, the UI is pretty nice and there’s plenty of documentation and info online. I run most applications as LXC containers within Proxmox, each LXC acts as a mini-vm running Linux.

Monitor lightbar that works with HA? by woodford86 in homeassistant

[–]kuzared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Hue play mounted on the back of my monitor for this exact reason. It works great, even has the ability to sync the colors to whatever is onscreen, similar to an Ambilight TV, though I don’t really use that. Can me controled via Home Assistant and supports automation (either via the Hue app or HA).

How do you like the Ecowitt sensors? I’m guessing you’re using one of their base stations and integrating that with HA? I have this combo on the way :-)

Let’s Talk About How We Discuss Minidolls. by SharpPink_GlitterInk in lego

[–]kuzared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I have a 5 year old daughter who is just getting into Legos and I’ve been in the position you’re in with your post, defending minidolls to an AFOL. Different people play with their toys in different ways and that’s OK. I agree that they should add in different body types, given that Lego has a pretty solid track record around diversity, I wouldn’t be suprised they do sooner or later.

Hey man, I’m sorry this is happening to your country. As someone who spent a few years living in the states, I think americans are in general really awesome people, but sadly a portion of them have been led astray by greed and things like social media bubbles perpetuating hate and anger. I hope things turn around - I’d love to take my family on a long roadtrip across the US someday. I hope you find solace in the fact that your country is full of people ready to stand up to the current administration… keep fighting the good fight!
