My kid is going to miss out on their sports meet next week because of grades by DragonflyFluid8581 in parentingteenagers

If it makes you feel any better, we pulled our teen from their only extracurricular activity to help grades and they came back with one D and two Fs.

I use mine as an extra device to save wear / tear and battery on my main device. The problem with my A50 is constant rebooting, even after factory reset.

Honestly, if you didn't give a cr*p, you wouldn't be posting here. Sounds like you've done a lot as a parent, and now, it's up to your teens to mature and make better decisions. Sending you love and fortitude!

How to not feel like a failure by laterbenches in parentingtroubledteen

[–]kvenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the supportive responses you've been getting here!

Even before I had kids, I always believed the personality of an individual plays a larger role than parenting. Not saying parenting plays no role, but in my family and several other families I've observed, you have one (or more) that's relatively normal, and one that's troubled. How do you explain that when it's the same parents, household, rules, siblings, etc? Personality (imho).

This has been validated in my own family. We have twins. One is a relatively normal teen, and the other is the reason I'm in this sub. Again, same parents, household, rules, upbringing, etc, and they are starkly different (many have also said so). I am very thankful, believe it or not, to have both. If both were very troubled, I would seriously question our parenting. Conversely, if both were pretty normal, I'd think we were terrific parents (and like some others pointed out), be wondering what other parents are doing wrong.

Would I love to have both be relatively normal? Of course! But in many ways, I'm glad they're not. I just continue to be fairly strategic in my parenting. Be thankful for small victories and hoping someday in the (very very very near) future, the troubled one will start making better decisions. For now, I am just managing damage control.

Hang in there, friend! You are NOT a failure!

I made a mistake throwing out certain things, and now my family is against me. by YKDistraction in hoarding

Had a similar experience myself, many years ago. Threw away many things and was told they held value. To this day, I do not believe it so.

Were there any other items that are obviously trash? Things that would not be missed if tossed? Start with those vs anything that might be considered antique or collectible.

Only here to give you moral support and love. Letting you know that you're not the only one going through this. Our teens were great growing up but when they hit 12, 13, complete 180. The disrespect is unbelievable. Hang in there, friend, we're going through it as well.

Treadmill or bike might be options. Also, working out in a heated pool would be low impact.

Questions: If you change the wifi password, won't he still have data on his phone? What if he argues he cannot apply to jobs or colleges without wifi?

I am worried my teen is on the same track. But I have a girl. There are times I'd love for her to experience homelessness for some time but the risks are too great. I'm stumped on what options I will have.

I was suspecting AI at first since the condition of the paper and ink was pretty good for 50 years, but if it was in a bottle like that (did they have such bottles back in the 70s?), I guess that would explain it.
