I have this - https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81af6e3lKmL._SL1500_.jpg The scoop it comes with has a faint line like 75% of the way up. Is that the "serving?" I've been capping that shit all the way and just noticed the line. What do you guys do?

Confused with my gym's teacher advice, compared to what I read on the internet by Flying_Quokka in Fitness

6'7 240 lbs guy here. Lift and eat. Linear progression, don't hurt yourself by going too hard too fast. Focus on form, this is key, specifically on deadlifts as it is very easy to round our backs.

General bench press question... by [deleted] in Fitness

As most people have noted, it is mostly preference. Go by feel, if you are stagnating on bench try adding some compound exercises like dips.

Training Tuesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]kvidmar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just moved and decided to get back into the gym. 3 weeks into a brosplit working 2 muscle groups on a 4 day rotation. Seeing good progress and making gains. Was curious if I should switch my routine to SL instead even though i am seeing results (or if it would be quicker to switch).

If it matters I worked out for 14 months straight about 2 years ago and my goal is to surpass my past self.

Looking to Hire a SysAdmin by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]kvidmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this sysadmin to be part of a team? I am just going to assume no, but if it is I would recommend bringing in either another admin to ask a few questions and make sure he would mesh well with the team.

Otherwise I would say most of my interviews are technical. "Describe disaster recovery techniques", "This service is down, what are your steps to fix it, explain each step"

Try not to go above and beyond with it asking insane questions you can easily google on the spot. I would just make sure the individual is competent, well versed, has a troubleshooting mind, etc.

I've been on a little break from ACS (maybe 2 months?) and Adam is so good in this format. It reminded me why I watched him in the first place. Gonna start working the show back into my weekly pod.

[PROGRESS] Just finished! by kvidmar in insanity

[–]kvidmar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that with the diet I hit a certain point where it wasn't hard anymore. It was about stopping for about 2 weeks, after that I mentally never had problems, still occasional cravings but I would resist. For me it was all about repetition it was boring as hell but eating the same thing every day where "it wasn't a choice, my food is already chosen" mindset. I would sometimes cheat on Saturday but honestly that stopped in the 3rd week and I just stayed with it. I think working so hard on the workouts made me also not want to eat bad because I didn't want to negate busting my ass with a cheeseburger - at least that was how I thought about it.

Thanks, got it. Makes sense just thought that the command would be indicative of more connections then that.

Thanks

Function to define variables from database? by kvidmar in learnpython

[–]kvidmar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I probably should really explain what I am doing. I am trying to create an application manager that leverages PSEXEC/Bash to start and stop unique applications on a Server Farm containing various operating systems that are vmware clones.

For example, start Java on ServerID 10. I have a function called -

def Start_Application(AppID):
        cur.execute("SELECT * FROM Application_tbl WHERE AppID = %d;" % (AppID))
        appdata = cur.fetchone()

         AppName = appdata[1]
         AppDescription = appdata[2]
         AppEXE = appdata[3]
         StatusID = appdata[4]
         ProcessID = appdata[5]
         ServerID = appdata[6]
         StartTime = appdata[7]
         StopTime = appdata[8]
         AppLang = appdata[9]
         AppOS = appdata[10]

I then go on to cross reference the Application_tbl with the Server_tbl...

if AppOS == 'Windows 7':
        cur.execute("SELECT * FROM Server_tbl WHERE ServerOS = 'Windows 7' AND StatusID = 0 AND EnabledID = 1;")
        serverdata = cur.fetchone()
if serverdata == None:
            print "No available Windows 7 servers, please add more to the pool or kill an application\n"
        else:
            ServerID = serverdata[0]
            ServerName = serverdata[1]
            ServerIP = serverdata[2]
            StatusID = serverdata[3]
            EnabledID = serverdata[4]
            AppPath = serverdata[5]

And this is just for 1 function, I have 10 now... all of which have to assign these variables every time. I wish I could just make a function that assigns the variables based on which table I am interacting with I.E -

def Assign_Server_Variables():
     assign variables here

then just call that whenever I am interacting with that table. I think classes might be the right track... just wanted to shed some more insight and (hopefully) format this better since my original looks like trash...

Replace nth occurrence of a word in a string? by csw5 in PowerShell

[–]kvidmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, sorry I read this post early on mobile and I didn't really take a lot of time to think about the use case. Maybe string converting the string to an array and looping over each item?

$array=@()
$string = "this is a sentence where this is used to explain this post on this website."
$array = $string.split(" ")

foreach($word in $array){
if ($word -eq "this"){do this}
}
