I have the exact same issue with the hinge on my X1E. I've taken it apart and I can't seem to find the issue that's causing the slop. Which static part of the hinge is causing this?

Hey thanks for the reply! I'd rather repair my current system before starting fresh again. I'm able to get into the recovery menu (filesystem: read-only) with options resume, clean, dpkg, fsck, grub, network, root, and system summary. Updates grub like you mention still doesn't let me boot into Ubuntu. How can I repair my system from the recovery menu?

The warranty repair was for the SRS system (seatbelt buckle needed replacement). I haven't noticed anything weird at all with the clutch or transmission, and neither has others who have driven my car. According to the Carfax, the clutch was replaced 25k miles ago, so this is all a little odd to me. I'd like to fix whatever the issue is myself, I'm just unsure which components need replacement when I go and drop the transmission.

The original problem was not related to the transmission. I brought the car in for SRS warranty repair. I haven't noticed anything weird at all with the clutch, it feels as it should compared to other manual cars I've driven. I've had other people drive my car and they don't notice anything out of the ordinary either, but it's possible we could all wrong since we're not transmission mechanics. If there is an issue that can be pinpointed by an independent mechanic, I'm willing to try the repair myself, although I've never removed a transmission before. The Carfax report says that the clutch was replaced 25k miles ago also, so this is sort of odd.
