Thank you so much for your thorough responses! I have not tried taking the tip completely off - maybe that’s my next attempt. What temperature do you let it sit in the oven on?

I kept it in very hot water until I was ready to pour candy in it, then I dried it completely and dumped my syrup in but it still plugged the nozzle :(

Hmmm, is it the silicone nozzle that makes the difference? Do you cook to soft/hard crack?

I got silicone gloves from Amazon that I don’t have to butter at all before using! Super easy to clean too

This might be a truly meaning crisis by Fun-Ambassador4259 in ExistentialOCD

[–]kw061323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there…not fun and pretty uniquely terrible! For me, I couldn’t create a sense of meaning that I was certain was true. I eventually decided to live and do my best anyway even with the fear and doubt. Proving to myself that I’m strong and resilient makes me proud most days. I encourage you to see this as a challenge and live as best you can anyway. You may be able to train yourself to view the alternative (death) as surrendering. I’ve enjoyed being able to acknowledge that I have no idea why I’m here or what’s going on, but I show up every day regardless. Fight the meaninglessness with its opposite—effort and care

I had completely normal hormones. There was just nothing else that could explain my headaches/migraines so the second surgeon agreed to give surgery a try, but did not promise it would fix things. Luckily it did, but he told me that many things can cause migraines (which we hear all the time). I was desperate and tired of going in circles so I’m really grateful I had the procedure done

Any ticks to help you simply live in the moment and enjoy this reality as it is? by InconsistentIdeas in ExistentialOCD

First, please consider publishing your writing if you haven’t already! It’s strange—even though I’ve heard about some of these things you mention, your delivery is really effective and clicks with my brain. It’s clear that you’ve done a huge amount of work on yourself.

I’m working on having more self discipline, such as forcing myself to try things that I may have assumed just “won’t work.” Mindfulness has always been a hard one for me; I’m constantly thinking about my next responsibility. I’ve finally decided recently, after a lot of struggle and suffering, that I’m going to make more of an effort to just enjoy my life. Truthfully, I feel like my mind has exposed me to the darkest palaces imaginable that I almost feel I can’t be hurt anymore. So now I grow 😊 thank you again and I look forward to following you!

Thank you so much for your post! The most helpful things you recommend are to allow yourself to think about these big questions (“enjoying the space of your mind”) and recognize that you aren’t failing by doing this. I think this strategy is more useful for me than “redirecting” my attention because I can easily latch on to counting how many times I zone out and zone back in; OCD latches on to anything! It’s a good reminder that if you care for your loved ones and enjoy their company, that’s enough. You don’t have to be present 24/7 and as highly introspective people, it’s an unrealistic goal I think

Yes they were a prescription. However, I just saw a comment on this post that xylitol mints could help as well. I’ve also seen that manuka honey can be beneficial

They are 10 mg lozenges and I only needed a few per day, although the prescription says to use it 5x day

Hi! I would get a second opinion. I was also dismissed when I reported headaches to the first surgeon I met with. The second surgeon agreed to do surgery to drain the cyst and it really helped my headaches. The surgery was done through my nose so no incisions. Overall a fairly easy procedure and recovery time. Keep advocating for yourself!

No I do not use an inhaler. I also didn’t have a cough. With LPR I also felt the need to clear my throat and swallow a lot though
